Personal History Like most Starfleet applicants, Lura Adona was eager to travel among the stars. But just as important to her was helping others with their problems. Growing up in the open society of Betazoid, she could see what was going on in the minds of her people, so she would know when others were in distress and instinctively tried to help them.

After graduating from college with a degree in psychology, she went on to get a master’s and then joined a clinic where she could get some practical experience in her field while continuing to pursue her doctorate.

It was during her time at the clinic that she met her future husband. They married several years later and she quickly had a child, but she never lost sight of her dream.

Once she got her doctorate, she applied to Starfleet. Given her age and experience, she went through the officers’ training course rather than spending the next four years as a cadet.
Service Record Upon completion of the officer training course, she was assigned to a science vessel to serve as the ship’s counselor as it explored a region of space that had been only scanned by probes up until then. The ship went into the region and was never heard from again.

A massive search was undertaken and after three months it was called off, with the ship presumed destroyed and all hands lost.

Six months later, another science vessel was dispatched into the region to pick up where the previous ship had, and it quickly made a startling discovery: a crashed Borg scouting vessel. All of the drones were dead except for one, a badly injured one designated as Three of Ten.

It was brought back under heavy guard where a DNA test revealed it was her. Surgery was able to restore her body, but her mind was another matter. She had spent over a year as part of a group mind, and being an individual again proved difficult to adjust to.

The most noticeable side effect was her difficulty in being alone. The idea of working together had been imprinted so deeply and firmly in her mind that she would experience full-blown panic attacks whenever there was no one in sight. Her husband attempted to alleviate it through video communication, but it didn’t work; she needed physical contact.

She tried going out in public, and that helped, but she needed something deeper, something more intimate, so she began cheating on her husband. She knew it was wrong, but there was nothing else that made the fear go away. She kept this up for several months until one day her husband came home early and found her with her latest partner. It was made even more difficult by the fact that he had their child with him. The next day they filed for divorce and she let him have full custody of their child.

With nothing left in her life but work, she returned back to her duties and requested a posting at something far away from home.
