Marine Quarters Area
PT Announcement

Leaving Lepidoptera - please, don't touch the display,
little boy, aha cute! Moving to the next aisle we have
Arachnida, the spiders, our. finest collection.
This friendly little devil is the heptothilidi,
unfortunately harmless. Next to him, the nasty licosa
raptoria, his tiny fangs cause creeping ulcerations of
the skin *laugh*. And here, my prize, the Black
Widow. Isn't she lovely?.. and so deadly? Her kiss is
fifteen times as poisonous as that of the rattlesnake.
You see her venom is highly neurotoxic, which is to say
that it attacks the central nervous system causing
intense pain, profuse sweating, difficulty in
breathing, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions
and, finally.. death. You know what I think I love the
most about her is her inborn need to dominate,
possess. In fact, immediately after the consummation
of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the
species she kills and eats him - *laugh* oh, he is
delicious.. and I hope he was! Such power and dignity
- unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a
slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled
this world as a stumbling demented child-king long
enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Black
Widow shall rise as his most fitting successor!

These words she speaks are true
We're all humanary stew if
We don't pledge allegiance to
The Black Widow

The horror that she brings
The horror of her sting
The unholiest of kings
The Black Widow

Our minds will be her toy
And every girl and boy will learn to be employed by
The Black Widow

Love her
Yes we love her
Love her
Yes we love her

She sits upon her throne and picks at all the bones of her
Husbands and her Wives he's devoured
She stares with a gleam
With a laugh so obscene at the virgins and the children
he's deflowered

Love her
Yes we love her
Love her
Yes we love her
Love me
Yes we love her

Our thoughts are hot and crazed
Our brains are webbed in haze
Of mindless senseless daze
The Black Widow

These words she speaks are true
We're all humanary stew
If we don't pledge allegiance to
The Black Widow

Jason stood at the end of the Marine Quarters in the corridor, as Alice Cooper's Black Widow boomed through the area and into all quarters. Looking at the ragtag group some in their underwear, some in pj's, others partially dressed.

“PT starts in six minutes,” Jason announced. “You have that time to clothe up, make sure your pack is ready and grab your weapon. The single file you'll use the turbo lifts to make your way to Shuttlebay Power Distribution Network where you'll form up in single file. Anyone who delays me longer than that, makes the entire Battalion perform 100 push-ups, prior to the PT.” She watched as some re-entered their quarters and others stayed looking at her. “Move your skinny arses. This is now going to be a daily occurrence. Six minutes is counting down!”

Disappearing out of the corridor, Jason walked slowly towards the nearest turbo lift and gave her wanted location. The Battalion was about to find out the difference between her and the major. Stepping out of the turbo lift and standing there alone, she glanced at her watch as the six minutes ticked down. The turbo lifts began to open and out filed the Battalion members. Opening the nearest Jefferies tube, she entered the JT keeping her eye on her watch as the Battalion members continued to exit the turbo lifts. Watching as they joined the single file, an occasional justle as people formed up. There was low chatter, everyone watching her.

“If you haven't worked it out yet, I'm, Jason Tanner or Blackwidow and your new executive officer. I'm also your marine instructor and I hate energy weapons. I'm a triple amputee, and I snipe with a crossbow, and I don't miss my targets. I'm an ex-mercenary, acquired by Starfleet and the Marine Corps because of my background. I do things differently. I am not the Major. You're going to be instructed in topics and weapons you've never used. PT is going to be an adventure and it is not voluntary. This morning we're going up to the marine levels via the ladders in the J-tubes. It won't always be this hard, it will be harder. You are marines. You rule the decks, you rule the Starbase and you will be able to tell me what's on every level. Where every turbo lift, cargo and general goes. It's this Battalion who is responsible for keeping this Starbase safe, and all those who live on her safe. Forget Security. Prime defence and offence are ours to cover. It doesn't matter whether it's pirates, a mutiny among the Fleeters, Civilian chaos or the Borg. You will be attending lectures at the Academy and you will be teaching civilians, and their kids, along with cadets and other departments how to defend themselves. Life is changing, and so is the Marine Corps. Grunt, Groan, Moan, Curse, Swear but don't let me hear it. Now, let's get those legs moving. You're on an adventure and when you finish you'll know this gargantuan base back to front. You draw flack, it comes to me. Now let's move. Take one of the harnesses, and clip in. There will be no casualties. What are you?”

“Marines.”

“Who are you?”

“14th Battalion Marine Corps.”

“Then move out.”

As she arrived Alex still getting used to the different timezone walked up to Lieutenant Tanner rubbing the back of her head "El-tee" she said standing in front of the Lieutenant "Major Alexandria Somers Commanding Officer G Company Omega, pleased to meet you, first off you are not my executive officer, now before I take part in this unannounced PT exercise, I would like to mention, that after this little event I will be wanting to have a word with you in private in my office over in G Company area, hell I not even had time to meet my troops yet" Somers said.

Tanner knew some people were not going to be happy, and she had her first one. "Major Somers, I look forward to a word whenever you are ready. Your people are in Marine Quarters, if you're not part of the 14th Battalion Marine Corps, then I apologise for interrupting your sleep, however, I aim to do PT every morning at this time. As the Marine Instructor, it's on my schedule." She kept her voice low and blank. "I appreciate that you want to separate your people from the rest of the Battalion, but PT is for all of the Battalion. I bow to your judgement if you don't wish to join the rest of the Battalion." Now was not the time to get into an argument with everyone watching and trying to hear what they were saying.

Looking at the Lieutenant "I think you misunderstood El-tee, I am part of the 14th, I am new here and I am not a morning person, never was, strange really considering I have been a marine my entire life, but I have softened up in my old age, been living it easy these past few months, I have forgotten what marine life is like so while I am not too happy about the hour you called us out as it was unexpected. Still, you have a job here and I am not one to stand in the way of one's duty, I will still want to have that chat, but you have been given a task, so I will fall in line with my men" Somers said.

"Then I'll take that under advisement when I yell at you for being too slow, and I look forward to that chat. I'm an exercise junkie Major, not all my PT will cause your legs to burn."

Looking at her sceptically "you sound like my old PT instructor in basic training El-tee, I rose from the ranks so I know a placate comment, still, I am hoping what you said is true, but I suppose I will find out over time" Somers said with a smile.

"One of the things I can promise you, Major, I don't lie. If you don't want the answer to something don't ask me the question. Tomorrow's PT will have you in the holodeck, wet, soggy, and working out how to get from A to B." Tanner's smile was one that said, it wasn't going to be that easy.

All of G company was in line and noticed their dishelved CO approach the Lieutenant, and say something, Marine Captain Jeff Smith looked at the rest of G company "Okay our new boss looks none too happy, what do you know of her Jaz?" Smith asked 1st Lieutenant Jasmine Allen.

While they were doing their warm-up exercises she looked over to the Red-headed Major who had her hair in a ponytail "apart from what is on her service jacket, not much beyond that" Allen responded.

The next person to speak was Second Lieutenant Torvan Sorel a female Bajoran "I hear the scuttlebutt is that her last posting did not go so well after the new base CO vanished without explanation, leaving her the Acting Command Officer, eventually she notified the Fleet and they decommissioned the new base Major Somers was not interested it would seem. There is also the fact that part of her record has been sealed at the highest level, not even Captain Von can open it, without authorization" sorel finished.

Looking at them all Sergeant K'Lagg a burly Klingon in G company found all this exercise strange, even after all this time, but he had gotten used to it and had come to enjoy it, and he felt that he had to contribute to the conversation. "What I know of her, is her family heritage is a proud one, even by Klingon standards, the Major is a combat Veteran, I heard it said that she was part of a Special Operations mission and she was a Corporal at the time and lost someone close to her and that is all I know of her locked section of her file. As for the rest, her Father Colonel Samuel Somers is a retired SFMC Officer and one of the ambassadors to the Klingon Empire, so the Major is the Daughter of a diplomat she and her father are proven, warriors. She is fully experienced with melee weapons and the type of weapons Lieutenant Tanner prefers, she can stand up with a Klingon in a drinking contest and beat most, she may be from a privileged family, but she does not hold it over anyone, she joined the Marines just to rebel as her parents wanted her to be a Fleet Officer, not a Marine" K'Lagg said.

Looking at the Klingon with a bemused expression "why Sergeant, do detect that you may be smitten with the Major, I only assume as the way you are gushing about her and that glassy look in your eyes" Sorel said in a teasing manner.

K'Lagg simply growled "not so Sir, I simply have a respect for her family and their accomplishments, I am surprised she has not yet introduced herself to us" the Klingon responded.

After speaking with Tanner Somers fell in with G Company "Greetings guys, I would have preferred to have met under other circumstances, but it seems that Tanner had different ideas, I am Major Alexandria Somers, your new CO, I am hoping we can get to know each other much better at a later date, but I noticed you had a discussion going on, what was it about?" Somers asked.

All looked at her, they seemed surprised that she had noticed something going on, it was CWO Gavin Sorensen who had remained silent until now, "ironically Major, we were talking about you and your abilities shall we say and Sergeant K'Lagg here was gushing over you" he said.

Somers looked at the Klingon with a raised eyebrow and a mischevious smile on her face, "really, did he also mention I am an Ace shuttle pilot too?" Somers said and all shook their heads "Good I am glad I still have mystery, now save all that energy for someone like Tanner likes to see pain, so let's show her what we can do huh?" Somers asked.

"Boo-Yah!" her Company shouted.

Standing to the side, and watching as the first of the Marines began the climb up the ladder, she slipped in at the end of the line. She'd wondered if Somers would join in, but didn't show any expression as she began to climb. "Move your butts marines, you're not Fleeters, and you have a hell of a long way to go to reach home. You've just started your first adventure, and remember I'm expecting every one of you to know what's on every level of this Starbase, where every Turbolift is and goes, where every entrance to this monster is, and where every hostile can get in. I want to know the quickest way to get to command, that doesn't involve transporters or TL's. Your time of leisure is over. What are you?" Tanner yelled so everyone could hear her.

When it came to her turn Alex climbed the ladder behind her Company XO, so out of practice she was, that she had to remember how to breathe 'damn I have become complacement' she thought as she reached the top of the next level and run around to a Jefferies tube and climbed in and crawled through the network heading up another level along the way she spoke to her XO. "Smith pass the word to the rest of G Company when we get up to the commercial area and get out of these tubes, the Company is to form up and we will show the ex-merc what a Company can do, does anyone know a good marine song to help us do a few laps around the commercial ring?" Somers asked.

"What about a standard classic from the old USMC book Major?" Smith asked.

Without looking back "excellent" Somers said as she paused to take a bend and then sped up again, by this time she had gotten her second wind and was leading from the front of her company.

As they all formed upon the Commercial level, Captain Jeff Smith started the verse and it was one that was none too polite in wording, but it seemed to keep her Company together and double-timing as a cohesive unit. Alex silently praised whoever kept the company in fine shape, she was proud, after a few laps of the commercial area, the Company headed towards a Jefferies tube and now the singing stopped as they all filed up and quickly entered the tubes, the last one being Alex closed the hatch and followed her team up to the next level, where they would do a lap then re-enter the tubes to climb higher.

Elsewhere......

"Heck, my legs are killing me," He thought he'd kept his voice low enough not to be heard, only it echoed.

"Swing out at the next entry Wallace and TL it back home. Anyone else who can't continue following him. And spend the time till we're back studying the base's deck listing."

"She's crazy."

"I heard that Perry. You can join those leaving." Tanner announced. "I suggest if you're continuing you remember who you are. If you've got a Borg on your arse, you'll be one of them by now. You're too slow, move your arses and pick up the place. I want three JT's to the one you're climbing." Tanner yelled at the Battalion members. She noticed that Somers lot had separated from the rest. As long as they didn't exit and use a turbo lift to get back to the marine decks, she wasn't going to complain, except to tell Somers PT was done with everyone as a group, not with her lot separating from the rest. "Take a look people G Company have vanished they are that far ahead, that if you had Borg on your tails, you'd be assimilated."

=/\= Somers PT is done as a group, with your Companies speed, the rest could be forced to step it up. =/\= Tanner used her Commbadge.

Pulling out her Commbadge =/\= Well El-tee if you and the rest of the 14th cannot keep up with G Company, you need more exercising than we do, now where do you want us to stop and wait for the rest of the battalion? =/\= Somers asked over the comms.

=/\= You might as well continue up to 120 and exit. =/\= Tanner answered.

"Blimey, this is killing me."

"You can expect more of it." E Company Captain Calawalla Bulgandramine told the mouth of one of hers. She didn't like it that G Company was so far ahead that they were being left behind.

"You can say that again." F Company Captain Arctic Gooboragandra stated, she wasn't happy either.

Triplets Abbey, Alison and Aileen Campbell continued to climb the ladders, passing ten slower marines.

"Alright people, if I pass, you can exit at the next exit and take the easier way back to 120." Tanner started to increase the pace, forcing some members of the Battalion to increase there's to stay ahead of her, while some admitted defeat and took the easy way back.

Exiting at 120, Tanner watched those who forced themselves to stay ahead of her collapse onto the floor.

"Welcome to the world of the Blackwidow people. You've got twelve days to climb those ladders and stay ahead of me, and that won't be PT. For those going on the SERE training, you'll pick up PT on your return, for those not attending, Chief Master Sergeant Quinn Vas will be taking over PT while I'm Instructing." Tanner announced. "For those of you interested Major Jacobs is in medical and very much alive and not positive to what's going around, however, we have lost a collection of marines. We will pay tribute to their lives and service when the SERE course has finished." Tanner stepped over several who lay on the floor, stopping and turning back. "Each time we do the JT's we'll be going higher until it takes you all the way to level one. Take the time to study what's on each level. Use the time I'm away to pick up the pace. I want you all with G Company and faster." Tanner stepped over another three and headed for her office.

G Company had managed to slow down their pace enough so as the rest of the Battalion could catch up, but even as fit as G Company was all were breathing heavily and all were exhausted. Somers for her part was exhausted, she was sweaty and dirty and had managed to arrange lots of water to go around the tired marines, even Tanner.

"Hey Jason!" she called to Tanner "you run a mean PT course, not done such training in my Spec Ops days," she said breathing heavily.

"PT is an adventure Major, this isn't the only time you'll climb, but G Company certainly is fitter than the rest, that doesn't mean you'll escape PT though, and as promised the next session won't burn those legs."

Looking at her dubiously, but with levity in her voice "you is evil El-tee, evil" she finished it off with a smile "as I said you have a task here to perform, does not mean I will not grumble and groan at what I am put through though" she said.

"I look forward to seeing what you can come up with." She'd heard an awful lot of grumbling and groaning. "During our next session."

Looking at Tanner "we will see, we will see El-tee" Somers said under her breath.
