Mission: A Day in the Life
Location: Marine Decks
Timeline: Before beam out

Marine Battalion Area
Executive Officer's Office

Wytara walked around Blackwidow's office and gave a low whistle. “If I didn't know you, I'd think you were about to start your own war.”

Jason sipped the lemonade slushie and waited for Wytara to get to the point.

“So far we have six hundred and eleven positive cases and three hundred and eight dead. Including the marine commanding officer. Fifty Two of those positive cases belong to you.”

Jason wondered where the Commanding Officer had gotten too, but with the hike coming up, she wasn't going to make the announcement now. “And you want my people's blood.”

“And yours.”

“My marines you're free to have. You know what mine's going to show, why do you need it?” Jason asked.

“Because you're the only person on this Starbase which has what it has within it.” Wytara knew this wasn't going to be easy. “And it may just be what we need to kill these worms and undo the damage that they have done.”

“And what if it is, you can't reach in and take a handful out. If you've got that many infected, are you telling me you have enough of a supply to inject everyone? And what if they don't want to have them inside them? I didn't have a choice. I killed three of BDOP's science staff when they tried to inject me a second and third time, what makes you think I won't kill you if you try?”

“I'm hoping that you'll trust me and let me have the blood sample, which won't leave my hands. While we're both on this hike, I'll secure your sample where it won't be touched. I don't know if what's inside you will work, or if the updated BDOP creation will work. I do know that your body treats all hostiles as threats and adjusts to attack whatever it is.” Wytara moved and stood before the transparent cases containing a collection not quite as big as hers, but containing some nastier creatures. “I've seen you stick your left hand in and be bitten and you should be dead, but you just stand there until it lets go. I doubt there are many people on this Starbase that have danced with the Borg, or many Delta Quadrant species.”

Jason snorted, “Exactly what are you going to say to those who are positive? Attention everyone, we may have a solution, but it's voluntary. I'd a modified Borg Nanites, we know that they attack anything not general to your bodies, and if we inject a small amount, we hope that these created by the BDOP will not only kill the worms, but fix the organ damage.”

“And how do you know that?” Jason continued. “And you're going to say what?”

“Your sample will be nameless, and you won't be brought into it, that I promise. I've never brought you into it yet, I told you that at the beginning when I first found out that someone on the Volcanic Erruption was playing with nanotechnology and using a baby. I told you again and again as you got older.” Wytara stated. “So what do you say? I take blood then I inject you with Schistosomiasis, then we sit and wait for ten minutes, than I inject you with the new BDOP Nanites and we see what happens.”

“And you take more blood.” Jason rolled up her shift, giving access to her tight stomach to Wytara, since she couldn't take blood from her right artificial arm or the veins on her left arm. “Take it so I can explain why your lot are down here before one of mine throws them out.” Standing up and opening her door, she gave a sharp whistle, drawing people's attention. “Okay, everyone has noticed the cadets with their microscopes. What you're all going to do is line up in front of one of them and give blood. There is a disease going around not only the starbase but all ships, and Starfleet bases and colonies. Basically if you have a rash or can't stop itching move left and take a seat on the floor until one of the cadets calls you up. If you've slept with anyone recently join those on the floor. If you've had pain, apart from PT pain, left on the floor. They'll take your blood, check it with the microscope and either clear you, or beam you to quarantine, and there are already fifty two there, so you won't be alone. Questions?”

“Some of us are going for the hike.”

“Then I suggest you hope you aren't positive and I suggest you wear full cover, so you don't come into contact with anyone else's bare skin.” She watched as several more moved left, before moving back to her office, waiting for Wytara.

Twenty minutes later it was over, Wytara was gone, fifty two had become Two hundred and fourty three positive and been beamed to quarantine. She was still negative for Schistosomiasis, and it seemed everything in her system was happily doing their things.

“EL-TEE.”

“Michaels, what can I do for you?”

“Where's the CO?”

“That I can't answer. He outranks me and I'm not always privy to his coming and goings.” Jason answered.

“Is he in quarantine?”

“Not according to the list just updated.” He was on the deceased list but she wasn't going to announce that just yet. “Let's concentrate on the up and coming beam out. Gather up the people on this PADD.” She made sure she gave him the correct one. “And have them in my office in ten minutes. Don't talk to anyone not on that list especially not Major Somers's people.”

“Got it EL-TEE.”

“And let us let the games begin.” Jason closed the door and rubbed her stomach lifting her shirt and watching the bruise form and turn purple.
