Mission: Ill Tidings
Location: Marine Barracks, Deck 119

S'er'in'e stepped off the transport that brought him to Starbase 332, he'd not even stepped off the ramp before the many scents and smells assaulted his feline nose. He could see Humans, Bajorans, Bolians even a few Ferengi traders and other ilk all around him and couldn't help but be offended by the odors.

It didn't surprise him that people cleared him a path as he drew near. Good, they understand. S'er'in'e thought. All these small creatures scuttled about with business, tiny Humans and aliens, even other marines trying to size up everything acting the part of 'bad ass marine'. Pitiful.

He checked in and was directed where to go, all he had with him was one bag in his left hand and a large wooden case slung across his back. Personal possessions, nobody need see them, unworthy of seeing them unless they be a fellow Caitian. Leaving the Docking Bay S'er'in'e made it to the interior workings of the station and followed the instructions given to him, the scents eased, odors lightened but still ever present as he walked. He found the nearest Turbolift and entered it, pleased to find it empty and he the only occupant.

"Deck 119." He ordered.

A longer than expected ride but then he'd never served on a Starbase before so there would be much to get used to.

When the doors opened he saw that he was not the only new addition to the Marine team on board this station, a line of new recruits waited. It was times like this that being an officer actually paid off. He started to filter through the marines listening to conversations as he passed, the usual types filled with egos, eagerness to serve and fight, keen for action. One Marine backed into S'er'in'e by accident and turned to voice his opinion of the situation.

"Hey buddy, why don't you......" He trailed off as at first seeing the large chest of S'er'in'e then peered upwards into the felines eyes.

"Why don't I what, hmmm?" S'er'in'e answered. "Well, something to say to me have you?" He leaned down and forward, growling at the bewildered marine. "Well, do you have a problem, little Human?"

"Uh, um, no. No problem at all." The young marine glowed red with embarrassment, seeing this towering mass of fur, the growl and fear in wondering if he was about to be eaten or something.

"Well then, make yourself useful, I'm trying to get to the Quartermaster, lead on." S'er'in'e ordered. Same old story, young and eager thinking big of themselves having graduated. It was times like this that being his size enabled him to stomp a few egos that needed it. S'er'in'e didn't know if it was fear or what it was but the Human started edging his way forward clearing a path for the feline that put him in his place. It took only 5 minutes with some light shoving and zig-zagging through others but eventually he reached the Quartermasters office.

"Just in there, sorry about earlier."

"Be gone Human." S'er'in'e spoke, when the Marine left he couldn't help but chuckle lightly. This could be amusing indeed. He entered the room and found it only held a few occupants within. The typical rule in most marine circles was 'Don't anger the Quartermaster' as he looked after, made ready and stored any gear a marine might require.

"Next, let's keep it moving."

S'er'in'e walked to the man and placed a few items on the table to be stored, mostly Caitian things as others would not be able to use them. Surrendering his locked weapons case S'er'in'e informed the Quartermaster that they were bladed weapons of Caitian's design, told the Quartermaster he could not view them but could scan the container if he wished, which he did. There was no surprise the Quartermaster didn't like it but S'er'in'e cared little for the feelings of others when it came to his personal effects such as those in the container.

"Out the door and turn left." The Quartermaster started then continued with directions to the officers quarters. Following the directions given he exited the door to a hushing of voices and score of staring at the tall exiting Caitian. He could feel the wash of relief span across the gathered men and women as he turned and made for the officer quarters.

He would report in soon to the listed Major in command, but not while burdened with his effects.
