Day One.. ahhhh

::On:::

I find these boots I got this week to be far too hard to break in, I will get them refit. The meeting today went well I thought. The Senior Chief approved of some of the plans I implemented with the staff. I reminded him that once given the absolute freedom to get their jobs done without endless paperwork things would smooth out. He will appreciate my management style when he assumes his own command. Their are just far to many people here to worry about. I have to treat them as experts in their fields. If I neglect to trust them all work will come to a halt.

The engineering team did some big work today after my meeting with them. Most of the section heads got together and briefed their subordinates on the new paperless report system. The section clerks are adamant with rage now they have lost their coveted desk jobs and have to return to actual work assignments.

I expected a flurry of assignment requests but only a few dozen have been requested. I think most will stick it out for a while before doing any serious job shopping. I have many issues after speaking with my Senior hot shot. it has been brought to my attention the internal power transfer conduits on deck 200 are fried, and the upper stabilizing stations are in constant need of repair. That would be my issue for the next shift. I'm sure they need to be replaced.

I'll be checking the progress on the station lift system projects throughout the day but need to let the team sort this one out by themselves. I checked the duty roster before returning here to my quarters and was surprised to see shift schedule were adjusted today to accommodate getting the refit completed on the slower watches.. Not to bad for Day One..
