A Request For Leave

Mission:
The Archan Job
Location: Operations
S'er'in'e had not yet been fully cleared for duty due to his remaining medical issues, still, he would need a leave of absence to go to the Homeworld for treatment. It was not something he was overly comfortable in asking but the Captain would need him fit and able instead of his current situation. To some that saw him, it may have seemed strange to see the towering feline walking a little slower than what had been previously observed but it was nonetheless what was going on. He would not need long, enough time to be treated and fix his balance issue but it was something he felt his own kind was better suited to resolving especially when it came to the more intricate factors of Caitian physiology.
Walking to the desk of the Captain's Aide he asked if the Captain was available.
Talelle smiled at the large Caitian and checked her schedule. "Captain Von doesn't have anything on her calendar right now. I can ask if she has time to meet with you, if you'd like," the Andorian girl asked.
"Yes, please." The towering Caitian spoke.
The yeoman activated her comm. "Captain Von. I have Colonel S'er'in'e here to see you."
Liarra's voice responded through the speaker. "Send him in, Talelle."
"Aye, Captain." Talelle gestured down the hall towards the captain's office, though she was sure S'er'in'e knew the way. "You can head on down."
"Thank you." A nod and then S'er'in'e started the short walk to Captain Von's Office. From there he pressed the chime to her door and waited.
"Come in," Von answered to the door chime. She looked up to see the large Caitian enter the room. She gestured towards one of the chairs across from her desk. "What can I do for you, S'er'in'e?"
He raised his hand in gratitude though sitting would pose another issue, getting up again. "I would like to request a leave of absence." He spoke. "The accident in the hanger has resulted in effects I am still struggling with which are preventing me from fully clearing for full duties. I would like to return to the Homeworld to seek treatment for my balance issues." Balance, which for a Caitian was vitial considering a fall or trip could result in a bone-breaking or worse, splintering considering the vast weight involved of the feline.
As usual, S'er'in'e was straight to the point. "I see. With Lieutenant Mason also incapacitated, that would leave the two ranking CAG officers out of commission. Are you confident that the patrols will be left in good hands? I can ask Commander Jek'Lar to help coordinate from Ops, if necessary. Do you not think the medical staff on the station can help with your balance issues?" Liarra was concerned for her friend, of course, but she also had a station and a sector to worry about. Missing a key part of that command structure was not going to be easy.
"I am confident the patrols will be conducted as normal, flight leads are capable of coordinating rosters where required and working together should the need arise due to increased demand or traffic need." S'er'in'e answered. "Service technicians and flight crews will continue to function and operate in the meantime with routine requirements." He continued.
"It is not a matter of the medical staff's capabilities, or skills, or experiences that I doubt Captain." He had to think of a way to translate the seriousness of the issue to something more relatable. "Captain, you are a joined Trill, if there was something wrong with your symbiote, really wrong, your duty to the symbiote and it's safety and wellbeing would require you to return to Trill, for testing to make sure all was well and if not....the safety of the symbiote comes first, above all else." At least that was the impression S'er'in'e had from his xeno studies.
"We Caitians, we are predators, our very being is founded on our abilities, our capabilities, our physical feats. You have met my Overseer her, how strict she was, how she held herself and the pride she had over the Caste. You also knew of the great displeasure she had at my diminished abilities and how she blamed Starfleet for it. She assigned a Guardian to retrain me. If I can not be what is expected of me even under basic physical requirements what then am I?" S'er'in'e explained.
"I do not doubt our medical staff, but when I have to consider that my very being or what and in turn who, I am. One's own kind knows best of all. If I am treated, I can return, but if not then at least I will be home to live out my days with the support of those best experienced to provide it."
Liarra rested her chin on her clasped hands. She knew enough about Caitian culture to know she didn't know enough about Caitian culture, and she knew better than to argue with someone who was a part of that culture. "I understand. I realize that some things go beyond simple medical procedures. You need to do what you need to do to take care of yourself. And if that means going on leave, then that's what you need to do. When are you planning to leave?"
"As soon as I can arrange transport, the longer the issue persists the greater the risk of it developing into something more serious in light of the risks of a fall for someone of my size and weight." S'er'in'e replied. He was confident things would continue to function in the mean time, his pilots knew his expectations and the consequences of failure, as too did the marines.
"Understood," Liarra replied with a nod. "We'll make adjustments and do our best to manage without you. Keep me posted on your travel arrangements. And make sure you get better."
