Mission: Vagrants, Vagabonds, and Thieves
Location: Middle Shuttlebay [Deck: 1040]
Timeline: MD13: 2300hrs.

Venin hissed as the shuttle came to rest on the landing pad. So far their expedition to collect their newfound and bountiful wealth had cost them the thirty bars of latinum it took to purchase the shuttle. His eye descended on the bay where just a day before he and his brother had discussed the profit-making opportunities of banking.

Now Venin just felt like crawling into a hole and drinking Kanar until he couldn't remember the crippling embarrassment of having been taken in by Crelar Rax, the Ventaxian who had traded them the supposedly infallible information on the location of an untapped vein of latinum.

Karx quietly went about the business of shutting down the shuttle's systems, occasionally glancing over at his brother. They had barely spoken on the way back, each silently dealing with their personal embarrassment and avoiding the constant reminder of it that each represented. How did this happen? the question Karx asked himself over and over again in the oppressive silence of the shuttle.

The shuttle settled and the hum that was their only noise disappeared. It was truly silent now and Karx looked over at Venin. Looking at his brother, his partner in everything since they were boys. A part of him wanted to say something that would make everything alright, but he knew he couldn't summon the words. He could only think of one thing to say and he just hoped it would make Venin feel better.

"We need to kill Crelar Rax," he hissed, breaking the silence at long last.

"We?" Venin continued staring at the console, unable to look his brother in the eye. "How would we kill someone like that?"

"We find someone to do it for us," Karx shot back, irritation in his voice. "Do you want to let him get away with playing us for fools? Do you? He paid us for legitimate, useful information with worthless gravel! He needs to pay for that."

"I don't disagree, Brother. But who do we know that would," he wrenched his brother by the arm and pulled him into whispering range as they walked, "kill someone?!"

Karx felt his shoulders slump as the harsh reality beat down his vengeful zeal. "I ... I don't know ..." His mind worked, trying to think of somebody, but he drew a blank. "There must be somebody!" he added, almost pleading.

Venin shrugged in agreement. "We can't exactly put a wire out. 'Ferengi require murderer.' Where would you find a killer in a floating city?"

"Well I don't know, brother!" Karx said, frustration seeping into his voice as he racked his brain, grasping for some way to make it happen. "We found Rax, didn't we? What's to say we can't find somebody in this place who would do the job?"
