| Personal History | Miranda was born on the Starship USS Rubin. As both of her parents were in Starfleet, her childhood was spent onboard several Starships and space stations as her parents transferred from posting to posting, never staying in one location for more than a few years. Following in her parent's footsteps, she enrolled in Starfleet Academy at the age of eighteen. During her first year at the academy, she was very insular and withdrawn, because for the first time she was on her own without one or both of her parents there to help her. She was taken in by her assigned roommate, a young Vulcan girl by the name of Selar. Over their second year, they became close friends and took many classes together. At the end of their time at the Academy, they had to part ways as they were assigned to other ends of the federation. After graduating, she was assigned the USS Normandy under Lt Colonel John Sheppard as a Junior Medical Officer. During her first year on the Normandy, Jennifer was assigned to several away teams and was asked to help out with several of the easer surgeries. During her second year, she was assigned to sickbay fulltime. Miranda served on the Normandy for four years, until she was transferred to Starbase 224 as part of their Medical Staff. While on the station, a mission into Breen Space went horribly wrong, trapping several Starfleet Officers in an extreme survival situation. With most of the medical staff occupied with other duties, she took a runabout into Breen space to look for the missing officers. During her time away from the station, her runabout was captured by the romulans, who were using this sector of Breen space for Bio-weapon research. For the next three months, she was tortured for classified Starfleet information which she didn't know. At the end of the third month a squad of Marine Commandos were able to infiltrate the facility and get her out, along with several other inmates. Having sustained a broken left arm and multiple other injuries, along with severe psychological stress, Miranda was sent to the hospital ship USS Bach for recovery. During her several months in rehabilitation and reconstruction, she studied forensic sciences and was able to acquire a PHD in Criminal Forensics. After she had recovered, Jennifer was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade for her actions and was assigned to Deep Space 4 as their temporary Chief Medical Officer as the station was extremely short handed. During the next three years, she commanded the medical staff with enough skill to be noticed by Station Commander. As a result of her hard work the promoted her to Lieutenant Senior grade and officially placed her as Chief Medical Officer of Deep Space 4. During her 6 years on the station, she met a young Bajorian Marine named D'Nel Koran. The two of them got together and started a relationship and after two years of dating, they got married with the station commander performing the ceremony. After their first few months together, Ronan was killed by an exploding plasma conduit. A week after his death, she discovered she was pregnant. She gave birth nine months later to a girl, who she named Hannah Koran Keller. Miranda continued to serve as Chief Medical Officer for a further 2 weeks before she was transferred to the USS Vesta as their chief medical officer. Not long after transferring to the Vesta, Miranda was going to give her child up for adoption, but her sister said she'd be happy to take Hannah as she already had a young girl of her own. After talking it over with her, Miranda agreed. After a short stay on the Vesta during the ships shakedown and subsequent mission, Miranda was transferred to Starbase 332 as their chief surgeon |
