| General Overview | Brought up in Japan to traditional Japanese values, Hiroto has embraced the values of working for the betterment of society, rather than the betterment of just himself. That is not to say that Hiroto doesn't work to better himself - but he does so in the interests of serving Starfleet and the Federation. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Hiroto and his father are both followers of bushido - the way of the warrior, or the ancient samurai discipline. As one of a number who have been trying to keep the ancient traditions alive, Hiroto is extremely adept at martial arts and swordplay, and often practices with his katana on the holodeck. As a result of Hiroto's work to better himself for the sole purpose of improving his service to Starfleet, he has not dedicated himself to many studies outside of his core duties as a security and tactical officer. He knows enough about science and engineering to be able to work that knowledge into his duties, but has not studied the finer points of either. He tends to be very single-minded. |

| Ambitions | Publicly, Hiroto will only admit to his ambition to serve Starfleet and the Federation, to the betterment of both institutions and his colleagues within them. And such an ambition is not a lie; it has been instilled in him since childhood. However, he does not lack his own personal ambitions. Hiroto has a great desire to improve his martial skills as much as possible, and so will often accept many challenges that come his way so as to improve himself, or prove himself the better warrior. He also would like to one day become a command officer, leading his own starship on voyages to protect the Federation. These ambitions however will often only be voiced to his family and close friends. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Hiroto's primary hobby is his development of Japanese martial arts. He has also expanded his repertoire to include other forms of martial arts, particularly those of races that he could be facing off against in the course of his duties, such as Klingon mok'bara, which he has noted has also become a favourite of his fellow officers over the years - particularly any officers who had served on either the Enterprise or Deep Space Nine, where they had obviously learnt from Commander Worf; the first Klingon in Starfleet. Hiroto also enjoys Earth electronic games from the 21st century, such as those made by Nintendo and Sony, and has reproductions of a number of their consoles and handhelds in his quarters. This is probably his hobby which is most at-odds with his on-duty persona, and so is often a surprise to anyone who is privy to seeing it for the first time. |
