| Personal History | Duff grew up on the Gulf Coast just outside New Orleans. His father owned and operated a bookstore, that also repaired antique books. Growing up with a nearly unlimited library fueled Duff's desire to learn and gave rise to his inquisitive nature. Duff's favorite novel was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, his dream as a child was to become an explorer. On his 18th birthday he enlisted in Starfleet. He graduated four years later as an Ensign. Throughout his Starfleet career he was stationed on several ships; his last assignment was as the Intelligence Officer for Admiral Churchill. The admiral was at a speaking engagement when the group was attacked. Duff stepped in front of the admiral and bore the blow of a grenade that was tossed towards them. The resulting injury left him with a slight limp in his left leg. Though the scars are virtually invisible the after affects still sometimes haunt Duff. He chose to retire and live a quieter life. Leaving Starfleet was not easy for Duff, but through some of his former connections he has obtained a job as a reporter on board a Starbase. |
