Locker Assignment and Range time
Posted on Sun Aug 14th, 2016 @ 9:24am by Lieutenant Commander Craig Travis & Master Chief Petty Officer Arathenar ch’Darnath
Mission:
Brave New World
Location: Security Centre
Craig had gotten himself moved in and started to situate his quarters and desk how he wanted it. He figured it was time to get other things situated. Craig tapped on his console to pull up the whereabouts of the Master-at-arms. The computer came back that he was at the armory. So Craig made his way over and walked in the door to see the Andorian male closing up a locker.
Ch'Darnath closed the locker as he became aware of the stranger entering the room. He paused, his antennae leaning in the direction of the doorway. Without turning around, he knew it was somebody he hadn't met before. "Something I can help you with?" he said in the gruff tone he used whenever he had the chance to make a first impression.
"Well actually there is. I am Lieutenant Travis I am the new Assistant Security Chief, and I was coming to meet you and get a locker assignment. I also wanted to see about setting up some weekly range time." Richard stepped up to the Master Chief and offered a hand of friendship.
The Andorian had turned and was looking the new 2IC up and down. He had already familiarised himself with Travis's service record, having been informed of his impending arrival a few days earlier. He looked at the proffered hand and his antennae leaned forward slightly. After a moment, he took the hand and shook it firmly. "You look like a typical marine, El-tee," he said, with a suspicious inflection in his tone.
"I suppose you can slap whatever uniform on a Marine you want, but you will never change his core." Travis laughed. "Hope you don't hold that against me. Couple things I need is an assigned locker for my gear and I was hoping you could get me penciled in for some regular range time twice a week."
"Well ahead of you, sir," ch'Darnath replied, his demeanour still standoffish but almost as warm as he ever got. He walked across to the nearby workstation and grabbed a PADD, which he tossed to Travis. "Here are the times I've assigned you. I insist on all security personnel getting at least two sessions on the range every week, on pain of losing their certification." He paused and lifted his head so he looked down his nose at the lieutenant. "By the way, I'll have to re-certify you before you can get started."
"That will be fine Master Chief. Any other issues to report??" Travis kept it business like because that seemed to be his way of doing things
The Andorian shook his head and walked over to a nearby locker. "Nothing comes to mind, sir," he said as he tapped a code into the locker. It clicked unlocked and he opened it up and stood beside it. "Except that this is your locker," he said. "Now, how about we get that certification out of the way right now? The range is currently free."
"Well no sense putting off what we can get done now." Travis grabbed his vest and rifle and side phaser. "Lead the way."
Ch'Darnath nodded curtly and lead Travis to the range. Time to find out what the new guy can do, he thought to himself as he allowed an amused grin to creep across his face, safe in the knowledge that the man behind him couldn't see it.
Travis always got a rush from range time or any training. Other than his standoff attitude the Master Chief seemed very compitant in his job and that was good.
