Mission:
Indomitable Will
Location: CAG Office

S'er'in'e arrived at his office rested following what started as simply resting in his bag style chair with his Mate ended up sleeping upon it overnight. Everything appeared ready to be a normal routine day until her heard a commotion on the Hanger deck. Standing from being seated behind his desk he peered out upon the vast area and soon found the problem. The Overseer had taken it upon herself to visit the Hanger for herself, flanked by her guards and themselves by security. From what he could see the Overseer wanted a closer look at his fighter. He darted out of the office and leapt the 3 meter fall from the upper level to the hanger floor landing on hands and feet. He quickly made his way to his fighter in an attempt to stem the problems taking place.
"Honoured Overseer." He spoke as he bowed, but not before seeing one of his ground crew hanging from a harness under the craft with the undercarriage doors open. "May I be of assistance."
The first to react were the bodyguards, instantly eyeing up S'er'in'e. Mar'ess then turned so see her warrior. "I will speak with you privately." Eyes glared even fangs appeared in anger at the scene she had witnessed.
"As you wish." S'er'in'e spoke still bowed having not been given permission to stand upright. He saw Mar'ess walk past followed by her guards, upon doing so he stood upright and followed. When they arrived at his office he told the security guards to wait outside.
"How dare you allow....these aliens access to my technology." Mar'ess exploded, she viewed the caste as hers and rightfully so given her position. "I came here to view for myself, without others at what you do here, and I find them crawling over the craft."
"Honoured Overseer, I understand your displeasure, I too am not fond of the intrusion they impose upon the craft but Starfleet has very strict protocols in place when it comes to combat craft. After it was damaged in combat it was grounded, I was unable to effect repairs myself due to another assignment with the Captain and only the ground crew can certify a craft fit for flight. The ground crews are passionate people and care about the ships they care for. They have a saying 'Take care of the fighter and the fighter will take care of you'."
"I am not interested in Starfleet or alien ways. I will not have aliens to have access to what is mine. I will have a small team sent to maintain your craft." Mar'ess shot. "No further alien interference will be tolerated do I make myself clear."
"Very Honoured Overseer." S'er'in'e spoke realising that it was pointless to argue, her word was final and left absolutely no wiggle room.
"I have with me visual and audio records of your fight with the disgraced." Mar'ess spoke. Her voice softened only slightly. "While I am appauled he harmed...your Mate, to which I await proof she is worthy of you I add." It was evident that she was also unhappy about that little detail as well. "It took you too long, I watched the battle and I know you to be faster and more capable than what I witnessed in the recording. You have grown sloppy, forgotten the training I have provided you, allowed Starfleet to make you soft. The female, Von, does not know I have this information, I wish to test the honesty of this female with my request."
"Honoured Overseer, understanding must be made in light of my situation. Starfleet does not afford the same level which can be expected on the Homeworld, Holodeck programs can only keep a blade so sharp but at some point the metal in which its forged begins to dull and tarnish." He was about to get word in about Samanthia's pregnancy when Mar'ess cut him off.
"Your service to this alien organisation has softened you, not as much as I expected I admit but clearly there has been some loss of ability." Mar'ess spoke looking at S'er'in'e. "We have new programs for my warriors training, you may be familiar with some of some of them. I expect you to complete them."
"Yes Overseer."
"I will have one of my guards stay with you while you do so, she will inform me of your progress and failures. She will train with you." Mar'ess made it abundantly clear that this was non-negotiable.
That struck S'er'in'e hard. Males were forbidden to touch females without permission. All the instructors were male and the Overseer had indicated she was to train with one of her guards. "Honoured Overseer, I am forbidden to harm a female, the training can be...."
"I am aware of how harsh the training can be, I was a guiding influence in their creation." Mar'ess interupted. "For training purposes only, you are given permission to make contact with my guard, only during training and only to a point where she is satisfied of your skills and no more. You are to forgo the traditional customs, heed her instruction, am I clear?" One of her guards stepped forward.
S'er'in'e knew right away that he was at a disadvantage, females we smaller, more agile and flexible while males were stronger and often more capable in the application of sheer brute force. However training with a female would indeed make him faster, give him an edge. It would be difficult but he welcomed it. "As you wish Honoured One."
"You will find her quarters and access to one of your holodecks." Mar'ess paused. "Training will be conducted outside your duties here. Captain Von considers you a valuable asset on this facility, I will entertain that you remain here but should you fail your training I will recall you to the Homeworld so that you can resume your former self."
Had S'er'in'e really become soft? Had he lost his edge? Two questions that struck home hard and without mercy. He knew something would change when he left the Homeworld, standards were not as high in Starfleet physically as it was with the caste but he did try and work out when duties permitted and his Mate was occupied with her own work. If the Overseer had seen it then perhaps others did too which forced him to wonder what his Father would say about it. "I understand Honoured Overseer."
"I will return to my ship, my guard will stay. Heed the training well warrior, the future here depends greatly upon it." Mar'ess turned flanked by the remaining guard to walk out of his office and along the walk way out of the Hanger Bay.
S'er'in'e bowed as she left and was for a fraction of a moment relieved but that moment came to a crashing halt when the guard that remained spoke. "You will find me quarters, we will begin training in the morning."
"Right this way Honoured One." S'er'in'e answered. He escorted her to find her quarters, part of him dreaded what tomorrow held, the very possibility that he would be recalled home even after what Samanthia had gone through tugged emotionally hard at him.
