Attack Aftermath: S'er'in'e
Posted on Wed May 31st, 2017 @ 6:40pm by Lieutenant Commander Marit Lantry M.D., Ph.D. & Colonel S'er'in'e
Mission:
Shadows and Whispers
Location: Infirmary, Starbase 332
Having stabilized Captain Von for the time being, Marit decided to check on S'er'in'e, who was being treated on a nearby bio bed by a nurse. Although they'd established early on his physical injuries were less severe following the attack than Von's, Marit was more concerned for his psychological state. This attack with Mark the third time he had to defend himself or people he cared about in the course of his duties, and given his conflicted feelings about who he was versus who he had had to become to serve in Starfleet, she imagined this latest attack only increased his frustration and confusion.
Lantry knew he would need emotional support as much as medical care, and as soon as she offered it, the better. Marit waited until the nurse was finished with her scan and was walking away before she stopped the nurse and accepted the PADD with his medical record, requesting some privacy for the two of them, before she approached the bio bed and allowed the nurse to get back to her duties. Gently, Marit offered, "I'm here to help get you patched up and see how you're doing. Is that okay with you?"
"As you wish Councellor." S'er'in'e lay still on the bed having been given some mild pain relief for the injuries inflicted upon him. "How is the Captain." Yet again he in the course of his duties was the direct result of harm towards a female. Almost as if he had done it himself and while Von may praise him, he wouldn't because he knew had Von not stopped him, he would have killed the man.
"She's stable and we're taking care of her," Marit offered simply. "Right now, I'm here to take care of you," she added, looking up at the bio bed's readings and taking out her tricorder. "How are you feeling?"
"My injuries will heal Counsellor." S'er'in'e replied softly, more feline inflections coming out from his usual tone of voice. Though the pain sedative was a welcome removal of the edge he'd developed.
"Of course they will," Lantry replied gently. "That doesn't mean you don't deserve help to have them heal. Besides, I have all people understand wounds are more than just physical." While she let him sit with that thought, she began her own scan of his wounds.
S'er'in'e with no recourse but to lay there and recover did exactly that. He knew that until his wounds were treated than he had to make the best of the given situation and right now that was laying there, waiting and being calm. "Why help me Counselor after our last meeting, I was most unkind, even if you prompted it."
Marit stifled her smile. She had never met someone who was skilled at self-deprecation and assigning blame at the same time. "A therapist is sometimes required to provoke emotion to allow its release," Lantry explained. "As a consequence, therapists must also have thick skins to absorb whatever emotions come our way. You were angry and you needed a safe place to sort out your emotions. I would never take that personally, and I know you would never intentionally hurt me. Besides," she added with a wider smile, "if I turned everyone away who had ever gotten angry with me, I wouldn't have anyone to see. Now," she said after a short pause, "let's see to those wounds, shall we?"
OOC Lori: I'm sorry for the short post, all, and I'm especially sorry to my partner. This month just got away from me and the summer is going to be busy as well, but I hope we can all continue to write together.
