Reporting for duty
Posted on Wed Mar 14th, 2018 @ 3:41pm by Lieutenant John DeMarck
Mission:
A Day in the Life
Location: Corridor and sickbay
Timeline: 1300 hours
The doors to his quarters slide open with a soft "wssss" sound. Stepping out in to the corridor John started to think about everything that had happened these past few weeks. A month ago Captain Monague came to him informing him that a position had come available on Starbase 332' s medical staff. The captain thought John would be the ideal candidate and had submitted his name for consideration. The choice had been made and john was being transfered. Having two weeks leave on the books John decided to return to Earth first. His sister Julie was there on leave. Moving across the quadrant meant putting even more lightyears between the two of them. Plus Judith was supposed to stay with him for three weeks soon and that couldn' t happen now. Seeing the both of them back on Earth, even for a short while, was all he had for now. Explaining to his little 4 year old niece why she couldn' t stay with him was hard. His sister understood, being in Starfleet herself. But how do you explain to a four year old that the sleepover she was looking forward to, being exited about, wasn't going to happen now.
The turbolift doors opened right when John wanted to press the button. "John my Brother" Katagh said in his deep dark voice. "You' re going up to sickbay aswell?" The crewmember standing beside the man looked at Katagh, then at John. The expression in his eyes made clear exactly wat he was thinking. It was the same as most people thought when Katagh introduced John as his 'brother.' " Yeah, have to report to commander Varen at 1300, you?" "Same" Katagh replied.

Stepping into sickbay things seemed quiet. But having nearly 33 years of medical experiance between them they knew sometimes the medical staff is at their busiest when things seem quiet. Both men walked straight through into the CMO's office. "Lieutenant John Demarck and doctor Katagh reporting for duty ma'am" John said to the commander sitting behind the desk.
