Mission:
Weathering the Storm
Location: Archia IV
Senior Grade Cadets:
George Zickerman - Majoring in Security - Andorian
Frederick Archer Hiedleburg III - Command - Human that comes from an Old English Aristocratic family
Serenity Blue Cloud - Biologist, Science - Apache
Arlene t'Sil - Security/ Tactical - Vulcan
Errowyn St.Cloud - Command/Operations.
After bumming around on Archia playing tourist. The Senior Cagets; Errowyn, George, Serenity, Frederick, Arlene; headed back to their shuttle that they had signed out from the Shuttle bay. They was in high spirits and carrying their purchases with them along with their travel packs.
"We should do this again on our next break from the Academy and before we depart for our assignments within Fleet." Frederick spoke as he hit the button to gain access to the shuttle.
"Definitely." Errowyn spoke as she entered the shuttle first and heading back to her quarters to stow her belongings.
"Better than ending up on extra detail for disturbing behavior." Arlene gave a hint of a smile as she looked pointedly at George, following Errowyn.
"You need to loosen up Arlene. That Vulcan attitude will cause you untold trouble in the future." George joked with Arlene, knowing full well that Arlene will ignore him.
"It is emotions that will retard growth of a civilization and is the cause of many wars. Look at the Klingons.. Humans with their violent history. It still baffles the great minds of Vulcan that you humans managed to claim your rights to travel in space." Arlene countered, before disappearing into her quarters aboard the Danube Class shuttle.
Serenity patted George's arm. "Stow it. You'll lose the debate with her." Squeezing by him to see what the blinking red light on Coms panel was all about.
Everyone fell silent as the voice message was blared through the interior of the shuttle.
==//== Attention! Attention! All ships are grounded till farther notice. Archia IV with agreement with Federation Star Fleet. A Class 1 Ion Storm is approaching the System. All Ships and shuttles will be grounded till farther notice. Thank you for your cooperation. Please stay tuned to this frequency for updates. Archia IV Areospace Command. This notice will be broadcasted again in fifteen minutes. ==\\==
The five of them looked at each other in the ensuing silence after the broadcast. A soft hiss of the radio carrier wave slowly became audible in the growing silence. They was going to be late and definitely miss out on accountability rollcall and checks.
"Huh... " Errowyn spoke up breaking the silence. "... I guess our vacation just been involuntary extended..."
She moved to the operation console and powered up the radio. She fiddled with the dials getting on the correct frequency. =/\= "Starbase 332. This shuttle Hercules NCC 4379. Cadet Senior Grade St.Cloud." =/\=
=/\= Hercules, this is Starbase 332, Lieutenant McGregor. How may I be of assistance, Cadet?" =/\= As the rest of the Cadets stowed their gear in their assigned quarters and gathered in the bridge / crew section of the Danube to listen in.
=/\= "We've been grounded due to an advisory of an incoming Ion Storm and been grounded on Archia IV." =/\= Errowyn spoke calmly, even though her heart raced at all the implication of being away from the Starbase, even though they had permission to take the trip.
=/\=That is an affirmative. Stay on planet till farther notice. I'll send word to your Faculty Advisors of your where abouts. Enjoy your unintended extended vacation and be advices to stay in communication with us, Cadet. Are you alone at this time?" =/\= Lieutenant McGregor spoke.
=/\= "There is four others with me at this time. Senior Cadet t'Sil; Blue Cloud; Hiedleburg; Zickerman." =/\= Errowyn spoke, looking out at the peaceful surrounding and blue sky as far as the eye could see.
=/\= The Academy's Troublemakers..." A soft snicker faintly heard behind the Lieutenant Mc Gregor as he spoke. "Thank you for the information and I'll pass the word on to the Commandant of the Academy. Be safe." =/\=
The carrier wave frequency died as Errowyn leaned back in the comfortable crew seat. She looked at her fellow Cadets. "Looks like we are going to be here for awhile.."
"Lets hit the bar!" George spoke up with a big smile on his face.
"Officially in two hours, we're suppose to be reporting in for duty and classes." Hiedleburg spoke up in his command voice, stopping George from leaving the shuttle. "While we're stuck here. It is our obligation to report to the Federation Embassy here on Archia IV, for the duration of this situation. Lets stick together as a team. As it is to our advantage. We have a shuttle under our command."
Serenity took her seat at her station aboard the Danube as she listened. "I agree." She looked at the rest. "We're getting valuable field experience that other Cadets would be giving what is sacred to them to be in our place. When that storms hits. Everyone will be in lockdown. Then have to deal with the chaos and reorganization."
Arlene sat at the Tactical while George stood nearby. "Concur with Blue Cloud." Giving her support to Hiedleburg.
George, being a bit of a rebel, knew these were his best friends at the Starbase Academy and if he needed support, these fellow cadets would be there backing him up. He nodded his cooperation to Hiedleburg. "I'm in."
Errowyn nodded as she was the last. "I'll lockdown our shuttle so no Embassy Pogue can steal it for his pleasure cruise." She turned back to the console and got busy changing the access code to a private one.
