A Moment of Time

Mission: Weathering the Storm
Location: USS Jackel // Starbase 332

Erica moved through the cramped ship of the Jackel. But to her, it was home. She had just left her quarters after making sure her shipboard gear was secure and any valuables were packed so they wouldn't get damaged incase of a breech where the many of the garrison ships were parked. She'd rather be out in deep space where there was room to run and maneuver instead of being tied to the ships berthing slot. Amongst the other ships that could damage the sleek predatory craft. She gave a feral predatory smile. They each deserved each other. Her and the Jackel. To bad it had been branded with a canine moniker. Everyone knew that felines were the supreme predators.

She grimaced and emitted a soft growl when the lights flickered from the connection to the external power source. One more thing to check along with the small but very efficient engineering crew that were assigned to the Jackel. With the warp core shut down and all anti-matter containers contained securely for the duration. Ship was dead, except for the power provided by the station and soon that would be shut off as that power would be sent elsewhere, where needed.

Maybe this was writing on the wall that it was time to make the transfer to the fighter wing. She was highly skilled. But a bit rustic in multi-tasking as a Combat Pilot and Tactical all rolled into one. She smiled as she remember that the fighter wing was commanded by a Caitian and a very handsome one at that with good breeding. It never hurt to flirt with the those above you in position and rank, even though he was taken by that Akiashiro queen.

She growled again, startling another Jackel crew member as they passed each other going the opposite way. She shrugged in apology quickly to ease the nerves of the other. Was she jealous? She reflected back when she saw him for the first time. That flare of love? Definitely lust as wild thoughts coursed through her mind. But as may be, their course hardly crossed each others. Hers busy bouncing between her two jobs. Primary; the Jackel and Secondary; on-call shuttle pilot for the Starbase 332 when she was available.

There will be others as she was still in her prime, besides she was too wild to settle down currently and being out here on the edge of the Federation suited her just fine.

A sudden commotion drew her attention from her thoughts, up ahead. She put on a burst of speed to see if she was needed. Seeing the gathered crew where the commotion had erupted, she came to stop, giving a soft, yet audible snarl to get attention of those blocking the passage. Crew glanced her way and moved to the side. There was a cargo grav sled that spilled it cargo blocking the corridor as two crew were in heated discussion. Not only the Cargo blocked the corridor, but a key turbolift access point.

She moved closer, announcing her presence. She sized up the situation as the two stopped their argument to look at her with anger in their eyes for each other. "Verbal fighting isn't helping matters any. Lets get this loaded and on it's way. Time waits for no person."

Erica reset the grav sled and pitched in reloading the spilled crates. "Is this the last of the stuff that needs to be removed?"
She asked, taking a look at the crate markings.

"Yes Lieutenant." The Crew that was in charge of the detail spoke up. "Before...." He fell silent at the glare from Erica.

"We have enough troubles with the approaching storm without the crew being territorial." She calmly purred with slight, yet noticeable under tone of threat. "You both will be dealt with later, when the Captain and your Section Leaders have time to deal with you both." Glaring at the two obvious ringleaders of the ruckus.

She knew full well she was going to let the matter slide, unless one really pressed their luck in the matter. Since none was hurt, except in feeling, it was her choice to notify the appropriate chain of command of the two of them. But fortunately they didn't know it. These two were always trying to get the better of the other. Or get out of work at the other's expense.

"You two." Pointing out the two ringleaders. "Will empty the sled together while the rest of you return to your workplaces." Eyeing the others that had gathered to see how the encounter turned out.

She stood there watching the others disperse and two head off with the loaded cargo sled in silence as they gave each other dirty looks. She knew they would start up again as soon they were off the ship.

Erica entered the bridge of the Jackel and moved to her station. It was a quiet place as most of the activity was going on the deck below the bridge. She looked around at dark bridge with just maintenance lights to see by. A screen was lit to show the status of the ship. Majority of the sections showed the ship prepped for the oncoming storm.

Her ears flickered at the soft breath from the Officer of the Watch. She looked over at him, sitting in the Centre seat, relaxed. "If you have nothing to do, Lieutenant. And not required, you're free to leave the ship. Just make sure you check in with Guard posted of your departure."

Erica gave a soft growl as she nodded, giving one last look over the bridge and left. She left the bridge and headed for the exit. She gave the ship a soft pat as she stepped from the ship onto the station proper. She paused long enough at the guard post to get her name on the roster checked off.

"Another down and few more to go." Guard muttered and he looked up at Erica with a smile, "you're good to go, Ma'am."

She nodded and took off, deeper into the station to her place with the rest of the crew for damage control, response team as needed.
