Mission:
Weathering the Storm
Location: Akiashiro Deck : Level 1403 : Central Section
Timeline: Coinsides with the Arrival of Admiral S'iraa
Samanthia paced the central section of the deck, moving amongst the various others that also lived and worked on Deck 1403. With entire decks population and work force confined to the Central Area around the turbolifts. Temperature rose slightly with air conditioning and life support for the deck working hard to keep things tolerable. Still tempters were flaring more frequency from slight jostles and normal bodily functions that was normally overlooked.
Children at first were patient till boredom settled in and sought entertainment elsewhere. Even meeting up with friends and acquaintances to seek entertainment amongst themselves, began to play amongst the packed adults. But then it was a lot more roomier here than in the emergency shelters throughout the station and in the upper levels. Their shrieks of delight or dismay began to grate on the adults nerves. Even when of the children tripped, bumped and jostled them by accident in their playing.
Samanthia carried Mariah safely in her arms as she meandered through the throng of residents, workers and children. She hummed softly to sooth Mariah. She smiled softly looking at her and S'er'in'e's daughter, who looked content and softly purring.
Several monitors showed the approaching ion storm off in the distance, but fast approaching. Samanthia watched in awe as she shifted so her daughter, Mariah could see and watch along with her. Down on the right corner was a clock counting down the time till the Storm hit.
"Look, Sweetie," Samanthia softly spoke watching a flight of fighters move across the face of the screen to intercept an inbound long range shuttle. She pointed them out to her Daughter. "Daddy flies one of them, when he aint stuck in the office."
"Mia-ow! Da-wa!" Mariah reached out her hand towards the screen.
Samanthia kept her voice light to keep the worry that her Mate and father of Mariah wasn't out there flying in the face of the approaching storm. "Yeah. Maybe we can go visit daddy when the storm passes by. You would like that?"
Mariah eyes was glued to the mesmerizing swirl of colors of the storm being displayed on the screen. She snuggled closer to the warmth of her mother and grabbing hold of her shirt. "merr.." Softly.
Samanthia shifted Mariah closer, wondering what it would be like to see the ion storm with her own two eyes. She knew that she would see colors that even a computer programming couldn't match. But then it could see colors on a different spectrum. She wondered what it would be like looking at the storm through eyes of her daughter who had both human and feline DNA.
She could get lost and let time slip by just watching the maelstrom of swirling colors, occasionally lit up by both bolt and sheet lightning. She knew that Science department was going insanely crazy studying the phenomenon and all the raw data of the Ion Storm.
"There you are! I took the liberty of moving your stuff in with me!" Tamerue spoke, coming up on them. "Come. We're getting ready to eat." She reached out and ruffled Mariah's hair, getting a soft "merrow," from her.
Samanthia followed in the wake of Tamarue, as she carried carrying Mariah. "Much appreciated." Softly to Tamarue. "I hope the storm passes quickly." She spoke eyeing the others as they lined up to access the replicators that were now open for business.
A few Techs were taping the replicator feed lines along the wall on the floor so that they would be out of everyone's way.
"How you holding up?" Tamarue spoke glancing back over her shoulder at Samanthia and Mariah, entering the room just off the Central Section.
"Just worried silly about my husband. I hope he aint out there flying CAP with his troops." Samanthia spoke softly, following Tamarue.
Samanthia settled on one of the big floor pillows that was used for sitting on. She shifted Mariah to her lap, letting her rest up against her belly, facing outward. She felt Mariah squirm to get free. She gave her daughter a gentle loving hug and placed her on the floor next to her.
"Being a male, he'll probably be. Reasoning with himself that is where he can do his best to protect you." Tamarue smiled at them both, Watching Mariah crawl around, exploring the new environment she was in. "And everyone else at the same time." She glanced at the doorway as the door opened, admitting Rapheal.
"And that is where a man should be! Facing danger right in the eye, ready to give his life so that his wife and legacy may survive to give prayer and praise that he may be honored throughout the generations of his descendants!" Raphael scooped up Mariah. He held her up and looked her over, ignoring her plaintive cat sounds of displeasure of her exploration being interrupted. His voice softens as his focus turned to her. "Little kitten. Remember your father for it is he that gave you life and will ensure now that you'll live to bear fine sons to protect you and continue his legacy."
Tamarue and Samanthia smiled at Raphael tucking Mariah in the crook of his arm and up against him. He settled between his wife and Samanthia. "The Ion Storm is about to fall upon us. Lets us eat." Passing Mariah to Samanthia as the servants brought in food for the four of them to eat.
