Someone Misplace A Station?

Posted on Sun Aug 18th, 2019 @ 9:10pm by Captain Liarra Von

Mission: Starbase 332, Where Are You?
Location: Bridge. U.S.S. Dreadnought

The U.S.S. Dreadnought, the fleets newest and largest starship every built lay in orbit of the planet where Starbase 332 once was. Its sudden disappearance cause some confusion as well as concern for Command at the loss of one of its major regional outposts. Fears that the loss of 332 would open the door for illegal activities to fill the security vacuum left behind so the Dreadnought was sent to fill in this void and conduct an investigation as to what happened. The large vessel had launched all its fighter wing in a search of any sign, debris, energy signatures, even venturing into local spacial anomalies such as nebula in search.

With any orbital station above a populated world comes a measure of trade. Some things the planet was importing it was doing so from 332 and with its sudden disappearance it left those needs unfulfilled. The Dreadnought lacked the scale of manufacture and fabrication capabilities of a full sized Starbase but the Dreadnought was far from small nor under equipped. Taking up what it could the ship founds its facilities working at capacity to meet the demands, and there were many of them.

The Dreadnought had been on station for 11 days already and so far there had been no sign of the Starbase, no energy signatures, no debris indicative of battle, no shuttles or life pods, it was for all intents and purposes...gone. Captain William Hood had been in constant communication with Starfleet Command over the situation providing updates every 12 hours. Multiple meetings and several heated called to the Archan officials who informed him about a storm passing over which prompted Hood to send two whole wings of fighters to investigate the path of the storm under the impression 332 had maybe been pulled off its position along with it.

As time passed the growing influence of the Dreadnought continued to expand as civilian ships were delivering cargo, picking up, minor repairs, even providing brief moments of reprieve from travel weary crews. While the Dreadnought could function like this for a duration it was however not what it was built for and Hood was faced with the challenge of facing long talks with Command about what the plan was for the future.

After another day ended Will found himself asleep only to be woken rudely by a voice demanding his attention pulling him from his dreams. Rubbing his eyes he looked at the clock, 03.16am it told him in offensive red numbers to his eyes. "Hood here." He moaned waking up slowly.

"Captain, sorry to wake you but there is a subspace anomaly forming on long range sensors"

"Recall patrol craft, deploy the twins." The twins were the two Defiant class Escorts docked at the rear of the ship. "I'm on my way."

Captain Hood had reached the Bridge just as the Twins had cleared Dreadnought air space.

On the fringes of the ion storm a brilliant flash of light lit up the sky. A massive wormhole opened amidst the swirling electricity and space dust.

"Captain, I'm detecting a mass fluctuations in the wormhole." A science station reported to the Captain who was seated in his chair.

The wormhole rippled as a large object started to emerge. The wormhole closed as quickly as it opened, leaving only Starbase 332 in its wake. The station was intact, but signs of damage left the hull pock marked and scarred.

"Open a channel." Hood called. "Starbase 332 this is Dreadnought. Captain Von...." Hood could only hope that with what he was seeing that comms were still somewhat functional.

The comm channel crackled while the damaged station tried to connect. After a moment a voice cut through the static. "Dreadnought, this Captain Von of Starbase 332. It's good to see a friendly face."
