The Wounded & The Aftermath

Mission:
The Archan Job
Location: Medical Bay
Despite his injuries S'er'in'e insisted that his pilots and staff be treated first, they had suffered injuries far worse than he and he could wait. Questions whirled through his head just as steadily as the ringing did, unable to hear anything else due to his ruptured ear drums and needing the end of a biobed to lean against to help steady his dizziness and sway. As he looked around, he didn't need to hear what was going on, he could see it. The faces of pain and suffering, the colors of blood, torn attire, the rushing of medical staff. What happened? What was the cause?
His ears rang with a high pitch, like a constant tone unyielding. He could feel the slickness under his fur, the matting caused by dried blood, the aches and pains, even the knocks to his joints as he scrambled over debris and fighter alike to help discover what ultimately was Lt Mason. From where he was he couldn't see her.
He looked down at the Padd he'd been given, us was using it to communicate due to his hearing loss. He looked down at it to read the list of injured personnel and Lt. Mason's status had not been updated yet. A drop of blood dripped into the Padd's surface, his nose had not yet stopped bleeding. Why had this happened? Was this a terrorist attack? Sabotage? He knew Security would be all over the incident soon enough finding answers checking logs, audio and visual records, reports and even the staff. There was a cause somewhere and he'd like to know who or what it was.
Samanthia came barging into the infirmary that held the those who was involved in the explosion. She moved with purpose and determination up to the nurse's station. "Excuse me. I'm here to see my mate, Colonel S'er'in'e. Do you know if he's dead or alive?"
The nurse looked up at her from her position behind the counter. A bit of disbelief shown on her face at Samanthia's claim of being his mate. "Who are you?" Looking determined to keep unnecessary people from clogging up the infirmary corridors so that the doctors could move freely to treat the fresh influx of patients from the Air Wing Hanger.
Samanthia got ready to blast the poor nurse to hell and back as everyone should know about her relationship with S'er'in'e. She took a deep breath as the thought came unbidden to her before she could speak. ~~this is a big station and everyone doesn't know everything of whose who and those in relationships. "I'm Samanthia Akiashiro who is the wife of S'er'in'e." with forced calmness. "It should be in S'er'in'e's dossier."
Nurse looked down at her screen as she typed in the request while Samanthia fidgeted a bit with worry. The nurse smiled as she watched the screen for a few seconds, then looked up at Samanthia. "He's alive and waiting for treatment. Section 4, Bio-bed 15. His condition is..." She broke off at watching Samanthia hurried moved away in the proper direction without hearing about his condition.
She barreled into S'er'in'e leaning against the bio-bed, wrapping her arms around his waist, ignoring his bloody condition, dirty and disheveled uniform. She leaned her head up under his muzzle. "Oh, thank all that is Sacred!" She murmured as she held him tightly as the weight of the horrors from the past dissipated as she held onto him.
Though riddled with aches and pains they all seemed to pale when his Mate, Samanthia, arrived. Even if the sudden rush and embrace hurt, he'd never let on because her simply being here made the discomfort worth it. He felt her say something but heard nothing, peering down a little to see that dried, damp, even wet blood now littered her hair and side of her face. "I..." He spoke but because he couldn't hear his own voice it came out a little louder than usual. "I cannot hear anything, use this." In his hand was a Padd, that could be typed or spoken to and it would transcribe it for him.
She took a deep breath, slightly wincing at him speaking a bit louder than normal. She released him as it dawned on her that her cheek was wet. She reached up and brushed at the wetness. Only realize it was blood when she looked to see what it was. She looked up at him, as she fully released him, but still held onto his paw like hand that had nothing in it. "Oh!" softly as she looked up at him. "You need to be treated! You can't take care of your family and troops wounded like this!" She gently tugged him to the side of the now empty bio-bed he was leaning against, letting the Padd to transcribe what she said into text he could read. She glared up at him. Yet it was softened by her concern that she might have aggravated his injuries. "On the bed now!" Becoming a bit bossy. "I'll check on your troops for you, once you get settled." Added to make sure he would comply at her bossy attitude and wisdom.
S'er'in'e's eyes could be seen reading the words as they formed on the Padd as they were transcribed though the tugging and gentle suggesting made her wishes clear enough. As he sat on the bed he saw that he'd stained her cheek and shoulder of her attire. Wounded pride would have surfaced were it not masked by a body with many injuries. He was not sure laying down made the dizziness any easier but the rest of his body was thankful for the relaxing of many aching muscles that had been constantly working in little movements to combat the swaying from his standing position.
Once Samanthia saw to the comforts of S'er'in'e, smiled warmly at him. "Feeling any better?" Samanthia asked a bit loudly, as a doctor showed up as soon as the bio-bed began chirping and beeping. She stood back on the other side of from the Doctor with the bio-bed in between them. Several Nurses showed up and began to clean up S'er'in'e, she wanted to help, but only got in the way and was kicked from the space around the bio-bed that contained her Mate. "Ack! I can help!" She yelped at being firmly removed the area. She grabbed some clean towelettes to clean up herself once it dawned on her she had gotten blood all over herself from S'er'in'e wounds. She stood back out of the way as the medical staff scanned and cleaned up S'er'in'e. She smiled a bit as she removed her bloody blouse to expose satin sleeveless undershirt tucked neatly in her skirt.
The treatment took nearly an hour but the side effects would last much longer. The cuts were easily treated, and his perforated eardrums healed but his balance would be off for a while, which for a feline, a fall could prove disastrous as they depended on it. The Doctor found Samanthia and walked over to her. "Ma'am, we just finished treating the Colonel, physically he is fine, bloodless was minimal and looked worse than it was, especially for someone his size. The biggest issue is his balance. Caitian's depend on balance which is why their tails sway as they walk, run, jump or anything really. Though his centre of balance has not changed his sense of balance has been disrupted. It's temporary, should be a week or so before its back to normal." The Doctor explained. "I can have you beamed to your quarters or anywhere else if you have another location, but he will need help getting around. A fall for him could easily result in broken bones or worse so if you have any means or aids at home, I'd recommend them, or if not we can replicate something."
Samanthia listened to the Doctor as he explained the situation of S'er'in'e. "Unfortunately, Akiashiro Deck has transporter inhibitors." Her mind racing, thinking back to her time looking through old medical journals during the time she was with Fleet Medical. Remembering a mobility device that a person could push to provide support while walking and could be used as a seat if needed. "A walker would be useful in his case." Then frowned as it probably would be embarrassing for him. "I'll draw it out if you have something I could use."
The Doctor handed over his Padd after switching it to draw mode. "Use this." Looking interested as the device she just told him about. He watched her quickly sketched out a simple design of one and explained each part she etched out on his Padd.
"This ought to work nicely. A place to sit if he needs to. Seat cover will cover a basket to carry stuff in if needed." She spoke handing back the Padd. "It's used by the older people when they reach an age where balance does become a problem. Its also can be used in Physical Therapy if needed. These were very popular in the twentieth century by the elderly."
The Docter saved it on his Padd and ran it through the Medical Data base coming up with it. He nodded as he figured out the size of the Walker that would benefit S'er'in'e and had it produced for him.
Even before S'er'in'e opened his eyes he could feel the waving shift in dizziness wash over him repeatedly. He sat up gingerly as he took his time trying to get his bearings. Not so much location but how his body was going to deal with the dizzy spells he'd have to endure for a little while. It was however a relief that he saw his Mate, Samanthia, standing to the side waiting patiently for him. "My Mate." His voice soft, mild compared to his usual.
Watching him sit up slowly, with his eyes closed. Then open to look at her. Samanthia smiled warmly at him when he spoke. She spoke softly, looking at him. "I'm here, S'er." Stepping closer to hold out her hands to him. "We have a bit of a walk to get home. Hopefully this Walker can help. Even has a seat in case you need to sit for a spell." Nodding her head to the device. She was already going over the route where less people would see S'er'in'e.
S'er'in'e looked at the walker, he knew he'd need assistance getting home and there was no way his Mate would be able to support his weight if he were to fall and such a fall would potentially add additional injury. He placed his hands in her, dwarfing them with his own but it was the touch that meant the most. He knew that the sooner he was out of public view the better. "I'd like to go home now." He asked softly, not liking people seeing him in this state.
Samanthia nodded, liking the way his big hands felt. even the claw tips in their relaxed state. She shifted a foot out and caught the walkers wheeled leg and pulled it closer to him, facing the proper way so he could grab onto them. She stepped back, letting her hands slide from his, giving him room to stand. "Let's go, My Mate."
S'er'in'e nodded though even that threatened to topple him as his balance was thrown off. "Yes." He wondered about Mason, about those that had suffered from what happened. Coupled with that was a wonder as to what was the cause of all this chaos, he hoped an investigation would reveal some answers.
