Samanthia gave a soft growl at the microwave at the thought of racial purity must be maintained. She turned and approached S'er'in'e and placed her hands gently on his chest. "I was selfish to not to think of the repercussions of me falling in love with you. I don't regret it. Not even one minute of it. And having Mariah to cement our relationship. She brings happiness to the both of us." She removed one hand and gently ran her hand over Mariah head and down her back. "I can sacrifice going the Cait Archeologist dig sites. But you need the treatment that Cait Home world can provide. After treatments, you can tend to Mariah."
"No." S'er'in'e quickly remarked. "We will go to the Homeworld, you will go to the sites, I will get the treatment and for our Daughter....I know of two Caitians that would enjoy her company." At least then all parties would get what they wanted for his parents, time with Mariah.
Tilts head to the side as Samanthia looks up at S'er'in'e. "Your parents?" A soft smile appears. "I can adjust my schedule on Cait, if it won't effect any of your folk's plans? And ask them and alert them, we're coming with a Colleague of mine from the Academy here on Archa. Probably will have to stay a few days someplace to make the final arrangements before Selene and I head out to a site. And you a place to stay after you get your treatment done."
She steps away from S'er'in'e, heading back to the mircowave to remove S'er'in'e's steak from it. She sets it on the table in S'er'in'es spot at the table. Quickly inserts her and Mariah's much smaller steaks into the microwave. She then grabs silverware, One set that is usable by Caitians and two for Mariah and herself. Sets the table. "What would you like to drink, Sere?" Glancing him.
When S'er'in'e joined Starfleet he knew that there would be times that the treatment provided by his own people, especially when he reaches the all-dangerous age of around 60 years. Starfleet's medical knowledge had grown by leaps and bounds over the decades but that could not rival the knowledge of ones own people in the treatment of it's own. He didn't expect the trip to the Homeworld to last long mostly because he doubted his Caste would permit Samanthia and Celene to stay for an extended time, he knew he'd pulled some strings but what those strings were attached to he'd find out later no doubt. "Water, please." S'er'in'e answered when he rotated to face the kitchen again. He wondered how his parents would react, not only to Mariah but also because once again his visit comes at a cost....his treatment. He eyed the meal that was prepared for him by his Mate on the table, patiently waiting for the rest of the meal to be placed before he'd sit and eat. He walked to the console and with a few sounds from selections he'd submitted a medical leave request to the Captain.
Samanthia settled Mariah at her spot at the table and retrieved a glass of water for S'er'in'e and set it next to his plate. She had a small smile of accomplishment that had gotten Celene and her to go to Cait and look over some Archeological dig sites. A soft ding was heard as the steaks finished cooking. Soon were pulled from the microwave and She busied herself in cutting up one of the streaks for Mariah. She hoped that Mariah would be okay at staying with her Caitian Grandparents and not get bullied by the other Caitian children. If they found anything new, she knew they would not be credited with the find as it would've been discovered eventually. But just think of the write up in their journals for use in lectures along with pictures. It would be a crowning moment for herself and Celene.
She finished cutting up Mariah's Steak and set the plate before her and her plate at her spot. Then grabbing drinks for Mariah and herself before sitting at the table.
S'er'in'e watched the motions, Mariah eagerly awaiting food, his Mate grabbing drinks. "Would you like to speak to Celene about Caitian customs, or yourself, being her friend?" The last thing he wanted was to put effort into arranging the visit to the Homeworld only for a misunderstanding to put it all at risk and force their departure. Even as he began to eat he looked at Mariah, wondering how she would fit in, how her experience would be, how she would be treated. Though he understood little of his Mate's studies he knew it was important to her, and while he would get the treatment he needed the opportunities the visit provided would be worth it to everyone.
Samanthia placed the drinks before everyone at the table before sitting down. "Yeah. It'll give me time to brush up on them myself also. Maybe even teach her a few phrases that would be helpful. Hate to get kicked off planet for something as simple as that." She scrunched her face quickly at how a society could be so bound by traditions and etiquette, but then she didn't come from that rigid lifestyle herself. She glanced at Mariah, where she was being taught Caitian Traditions on how children were supposed to act around the Caitian Elders, even Kin. "I apologize if I came off a bit wild when I went to Cait for the first time. I probably messed up a few things." Giving S'er'in'e a shy smile with a bit of embarrassment. "I should've asked beforehand on the way to Cait."
"If it were anything too serious you would have been informed." S'er'in'e replied. It was expected some zeal would be present when visiting a new world and its culture, but he knew his ways could be difficult to contend with. "If anything your experiences will provide valuable insight in to what to expect." He hoped that Celene would abide by what was expected, especially since her presence was tied to Samanthia's and both could be removed from the planet by the actions of just one.
"Lets keep our fingers crossed. It would be upsetting to be allowed access and get kicked out on the possible verge of a grand discovery." Samanthia looked a bit dreamily at that prospect, then sobered up. "So definitely be giving lessons. Maybe we could even practice them on our trip to Cait."
"That would perhaps be best, however you know I cannot touch Celene without your consent." S'er'in'e answered. "But lessons would help avoid incidents that would risk your ventures at the dig sites." There was a brief pause. "You should be prepared for what ever the Overseer may have in store also."
"Definitely." Samanthia stood up and began to clear the table of the used dishes with practiced ease of being a mom. "As for the Overseers... We'll have to take his or her measure. If there is going to be problem Celene and I can always leave the site and lodge a complaint. But being Cait, I'm sure the Cait Academia would side on whomever is in charge of the Site." She looked thoughtful as she set Mariah on the floor to go play. "As for touching Celene..." Gave a pause as she thought quickly. "ask her first. I can understand accidental touching's. It's bound to happen being on Danube Class shuttle."
"I have been in close quarters with females before, I am sure I will manage." S'er'in'e answered, in part he was looking forward to seeing home again, in another, not so much knowing the stigma they would face with a non-purebreed daughter and yet, he looked forward to having her paw and claw prints added to the family plates at the province townhall.
Samanthia smiled at S'er'in'e with warmth as she approached him. Her movements graceful and giving him a hug. "You've are a wonderful mate and father." She purred softly as she buried her face into his neck fur.
