Another Day at the Office?

Posted on Mon Apr 4th, 2011 @ 10:37pm by Samanthia Akiashiro

Mission: Shore Leave - Archa IV
Location: Warp 12 :: SB-332
Timeline: MD03 0630 hrs

After helping out at Warp-12 to the wee hours of the Morning and do to the unusual busy traffic of civilians out that night in support of the Lessening of Fleet Personel presence and personel. At least confined to less visible means and stayed in the background and provided extra security during emergancies, Custom support and responce to the aid of civilian ships in the sector against the pirate activity or crimminal behavior against them.

Samanthia elected to to stay at the club and slept on her cot in the Manager's office. Waking up and taking care of her morning routine, clean up, change of clothes, food which she ate in the club proper amongst the patrons who had made their appearance for a quick meal and morning coffee and to converse with people coming off duty or chance meetings with a acquaitiance or co-worker.

She listened to the general banter and gave a wave and smile to those that she knew and a few regular patrons of the place. Plus the establishment's employees, which some had joined her as they grabbed a bite to eat also with her to discuss the latest happenings about the station.

"I wish that clean-up crews would get back to work. My son played kick the bottle on his way to school this morning with the trash that been accummilating!" A petite waitress spoke. "he accidently kicked some trash into the main walk way and some Security Officer nearly jumped down my son's throat for it. I gave the man a piece of my mind!"

"It is kinda getting abit bad out there. There are gangs out there. I couldn't take my usual short cut to arrive on time!" Another peron spoke up as he sat down with his meal at her table. A shift manager responcible for inventorying the club's stock to keep it stocked from last night usage and during the day business. "I heard several of the sanitation crew are staging a walk out from the orders they recieved from Labor Management Office."

Samanthia scowled as that meant more of a rodent population to deal with. Even though the station was free of them now or as everyone like to think, would be more noticeable with the crews on a walk out strike. "As you do your inventory. Check for any signs of infestation," looking at the man, resuming her calm appearance, smiled slightly as she recieved a nod of compliance.

She looked over at the Bar Tender Supervisor, "During the primary two shift, slow down on the real alcoholic drinks servings. If you can subsitute the real stuff with synth, do so."

"Yes Ma'am. That's gonna hurt our business alittle." He spoke thoughtfully.

"What's happening outside..." Referring to the Promanade Concourse and all the protests going on, "... It would be wise to do so. At Least if an incident does happen that is alcohol related, we can show we did our best to prevent it from happening. From our establishment wise."

The Supervisor nodded, "I'll pass the word to tenders on duty and pass it along to others as they come on duty." taking a bite of hisscrambled eggs.

Samanthia looked around her establishment, seeing a patron drop a used napkin to the floor and leave it. It was going to be a long day as a waitress moved by the table and picked up the napkin and returned to the patron with a pleasant reminder to help keep the place neat and this was a place of gathering for others who enjoyed the place.

The man apologyzed, even though he wanted to throw it on the floor again after the waitress left, but seeing Samanthia watching, he paid for his meal and left, leaving the residue of his meal behind. Waitress came by as it was her job to bus and clean tables, cleaned up the table for the next customer.

She turned back to her supervisors and continued to lay out what needed to be done and listening to the feedback from them. Soon she was alone at the table as shift bagan for the Warp-12 staff. She stood up and moved over to the big viewport that looked out into space.

She whispered to the stars as she stood there, finishng off her drink, "From one hotspot to the next..." She looked out watching several Akiashiro Freighters with a swarm of freight shuttles around them, unloading and loading freight. Wondering if she should let Fido run the place and crew aboard on of them.

"CSS Archangel..." Came a male voice used to command, seeing her interest in the two merchant ships.

Samanthia turned towards the man that spoke to her, looking at his clothing and seeing the Akiashiro emblem on him. "You crew aboard that ship?" Curious. Seeing his well groomed long beard, shoulder length hair, steel eyes were focused.

"I captian that ship." He moved up to stand next to her, pointing out his ship to her. "It's the one farthest out."

Another big kilometer long frieghter that carried big payloads and followed a scheduled merchant run about the sector.

"Impressive." Looking up at him, "It must require a large crew to operate?"

He laughed softly. "It would seam like it does, But it is mostly automated and cargospace. Requires a few people to actually operate than your basic Starfleet ship. Maybe 30 at the most plus the odd detatchment of security, depending on what's being hauled. Plus the odd passenger here and there." He looked at the ship with pride.

"Does that make it a prime target, like the other ship that gotten in trouble?" Samanthia spoke in her soft voice with interest.

"We keep to our flight schedules and route. Which is well known and kept an eye on by Akiashiro Shipping and the people we do business with. With allowance of a day either way." He spoke softly, glancing around the room. "That is what provides us our security, plus the routes are patroled by the military."

Samanthia nodded. "Even if you go into another sector that is not patroled by Fleet?"

"Then we rely on them that control that sector to keep it safe for Merchant ships." He smiled abit, looking out at his ship., spoke again in a softer voice, "plus personal defensive weapons for the crew. Authorized by the Merchant and Fleet for protection while in transit."

She nodded and smiled at him, "excuse me, I need to get to work," turning and moving away to start her day.
