Mission:
Swing State
Location: Cait :: S'er'in'e Residence
Samanthia freshen up quickly and changed into appropriate attire of her status within S'er'in'e family and put on the headpiece after retrieving it from the place where he placed it where she could easily access it. She wrinkled her nose as she was more interested in meeting up with the Caitian Archeologist and heading out to the chosen site to get to work a long with Celene.
Celene dug out her best outfit. She knew that when visiting others outside of family, first impressions were important. Hearing the exchanges between S'er'in'e and Samanthia, she smiled at the way Samanthia was a bit flustered and easily shifted one's presence from a housewife to an equal within the time it took her to change.
Mariah ran through the house, exploring every room she could access. Soft purring noises emitted at each new place opened up to her. Soon she ran back to where everyone was at. Eyes lighting up at seeing the headpiece that her mom wore. "Merrow!" Holding out her hands to the headpiece. "Canni! Canni!" She shrieked in delight and demand for something unique herself to wear.
Samanthia looked over Mariah, still wearing her travel/play outfit. Seeing it still clean with a few dusty spots from exploring. "No Mariah." She spoke softly as she picked up Mariah. "I'll get one replicated for you later."
"Mew! Now momma!" Mariah demanded in a softer tone laced with disappointment. Looking hopeful at jewelry headpiece.
S'er'in'e had finished getting things in order. He was sure that Samanthia would have already mentioned something about how things are done on the planet with cultural ways and protocols, but much rested on the smooth going of this visit, even with his parents. "Are you ready, Elder." The word sounding almost strange when he said it in light of his constant and correct term for her of Mate. Her role as Elder was an important one and while she herself may not be Caitian she assumed the role from his Mother. S'er'in'e was an only child and so when Samanthia claimed him, it was natural her position in society would shift in a world where the female held all the power.
He hoped she was ready, he needed her to be.
Samanthia looked around at hearing S'er'in'e words, thinking that his parents had arrived. Once seeing that it was only Selene, Mariah, and S'er'in'e was the only ones currently in view. It then hit her that she was Elder as it pertained to Caitian cultural ways. She got a bit nervious as she looked at S'er'in'e. She gave a nod, signaling that she was ready. She turned to Selene, to look at her outfit. It was acceptable as it was appropriate for any level of society and even if it wasn't, she would take responsibility as Selene wasa her guest. She moved to a lounging floor pillow that Caitians prefer to sit on. "Settle here, Selene," Motioning her to have a seat near her pillow. Not on the side reserved for S'er'in'e.
Selene moved to the indicated pillow seat and settled there on the pillow. She took her cues from Samanthia, curbing her youthful nature and was curious at seeing a culture other that humans and her culture.
Samanthia then settled on her pillow with Mariah, getting comfortable and tucking Mariah next to her. "I'm ready." She spoke to S'er'in'e, with a slight nervousness tinging her voice.
A critical moment stood before everyone. For Samanthia she would formally assume the mantle of Elder, introduce Mariah to them, Selene the close friend and for himself he got to see his parents again. He hoped Selene remembered the points and tips that were mentioned on the trip to the Homeworld because even beyond this residence much rested on conduct if archeology was to be pursued on the clearances he'd managed to obtain for them.
The residence's systems had informed him his parents had arrived. With a calming breath walked to the front door and opened it. Only glances were exchanged, rituals and tradition had to be satisfied first. His Mother donned traditional attire as did his Father though it was clear time had been less favourable to the latter with the added grey fur, dulling of original colour and slowed pace. He lead the way to the room where everyone else waited, walked in to where his Mate sat. "May I introduce my parents." This was mostly for Selene's benefit.
"My Mother, M'roaa and my Father and superior, S'ir'tha." S'er'in'e introduced. It was almost instant that S'er'in'e saw the shift in posture when seeing Mariah.
"My Mate and Wife, Samanthia and our daughter Mariah and to the side, Selene, a friend."
Today was a difficult day for M'roaa but one that countless mothers had to do in days past. When the position they held in traditional society is bestowed to another. The bow M'roaa gave Samanathia was low, respectful, meaningful. "Elder." She spoke clearly having practiced the word in Federation Standard. While the family relationship wouldn't change between them, the cultural authority would by leaving Samanthia with all the power as the Mate to the eldest son. It was not all glory and grandeur though, with the title of Elder came the responsibility. S'ir'tha bowed though age and injury effected his ability, but the effort and determination remained in the attempt.
S'er'in'e could read the body language of his father who was processing the scents and smells assaulting his nose. Something that S'er'in'e had mentioned to the females in preparation that they avoided scents not of their own.
Samanthia stood after shifting Mariah a bit so she could stand, rising a bit to quickly for the occasion with concern for S'ir'tha. She curtsied with politeness and respect the occasion demanded. "Please rise, Elder M'roaa, S'ir'tha." Then she settled back on the pillow. "Please sit." Motioning to the pillows that had previously arranged beforehand.
"Welcome to my humble home. I deeply apologize for not providing refreshments as my Mate also in need of medical attention. I hope you understand for the deviation of this occasion demands." Sitting more upright than lounging when they first entered.
Selene kept quiet, watching with interest. This was more that she bargained for. Her gaze shifting between the three Caitians and Samanthia from her pillow she was lounging on. Hearing the about the condition of S'er'in'e, Spoke up softly. "I'll get the refreshments." She stood gracefully, giving an Archon bow of respect, as S'er'in'e parents settled on their cushions. Which freed S'er'in'e up, so he could be there with family.
Mariah watched with curiosity, fidgeted a bit, then settled down as she took in their scent, nostrils flaring. She looked up at Samanthia, gently tugging her mom's dress to get her attention.
Samanthia looked down at Mariah, softly spoke. "Your Caitian Grandparents." Then placed her finger on Mariah's lip to keep Mariah quiet. "You'll be introduced soon enough." Looking back at M'roaa, speaking in Caitian, >"My kitten."< Giving a soft smile of a mother showing the warmth and love for her daughter, no matter what the situation was. She nodded to signal the continuation of the occasion.
