Mission: The Pak'Leth Problem
Location: USS Jackal
Timeline: After Commodore Gunning leaves.

Erica smiled at receiving her orders and new assignment to a real ship of the line. Even if it was a Defiant Class ship. She had heard a lot about them and did extensive study on them. She changed direction from heading to the shuttle bay and moved to the docking berth of the USS Jackal to get a quick view of the ship and personal tour of the ship while it was docked in port.

She entered the ship after logging in with the ship's security system to be allowed on the Jackal. Eyes sparkle with delight and giving off a soft pure of delight as she made her way through the ship up to the bridge. She entered the bridge, seeing the lone female on the bridge.

Liarra heard the port egress open again. She knew that it was very unlike Gunning to have forgotten something, so she knew right away that she was being joined by someone new. She took a moment to switch out her rank insignia before turning to face the newcomer. "Hello, Ensign. What can I do for you?"

Erica looked at the lady that spoke to her, "Just checking out my new assignment, Ma'am," tone unsure of the lady's rank, but respectful with an underlying tone of excitement. "I'm the pilot of this ship." Then paused for a second then continued. "I'm Ensign De'Havean," approaching the lady, coming to a respectful stance a few paces away from Liarra.

Eyes darting over the bridge, taking in the view as she was attentive. Clearly she wanted to check out the helm controls, but going through the formalities of intro'ing herself to a fellow crewmate of the Jackal.

Liarra extended her hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Ensign De'Havean. I'm Lieutenant Command..." Liarra trailed off for a second before catching herself. "Excuse me, make that Commander Liarra Von." She circled the center chair, her hand sliding over the port-side console. A smile grew across her face. "I'm the captain of this ship."

"I heard a lot about these ships and wanted to fly one," Erica extended her paw/hand to gently clasps Liarra's wrist gently in the traditional Caitian manner when the Commander got within reach to do so while keeping her claws retracted. "Gratz on yooz promotion," picking up the slip of tongue when not used to using the newer higher rank.

"Thank you, Ensign. You actually just missed the Commodore giving me my promotion and new assignment. I've taken the Jackal out on missions before, but now she's actually my ship. I'm not an expert pilot by any means, but she is easy to fly. She's very maneuverable in capable hands. I'm sure you'll like her."

Erica nodded with a soft purr, then spoke, "I'm pretty sure the Jackal will jump to a Caitian at the helm." Erica let the Commander's hand go after a quick congratulatory shake. "Will we be taking her out anytime soon?" Eyeing the vacant helm seat.

Liarra nodded. "I'm sure we'll be taking her out soon. At the moment, most of the crew is on the station since the ship is considered a garrison vessel. I'd like to keep at least a skeleton crew on at all times." The new commander paused for a moment as she realized that she was rambling. "But that's not really your concern at the moment. I'll schedule us a patrol for tomorrow. I can tell that you're itching to sit at the helm."

"I've been known to hotwire a few ships if the wait is too long.." with a wink and slight chuffing sound of merriment sparkled in her eyes. "If there is anything else....? I've a ship and it's helm to get familiar with." Not wanting to delay the Commander if she has business elsewhere as she politely edged towards the vacant helm seat that's been calling for her. "I'll take first watch here." Mentally rolling her eyes going against the old axioum of Never volunteer while in any military organization.

"I can be scrappy in a fight, Ensign. You might want to think twice before you try stealing my ship," the captain replied with a grin. Liarra started towards the port egress. "I'll get out of your hair and let you get used to the helm." The Trill took another look at her bridge, proud of how far she's come.
