A Garden, A Vedek, A Girl, and an Angel of Death
Posted on Tue Apr 6th, 2010 @ 9:27am by Lieutenant Commander Melissa Daniels M.D.
Mission:
Commissioned
Location: Bajor, First City, Vedek's Garden
Timeline: Current
Kris sat down at the Vedek's Garden and looked over the large and serene garden. She pulled out a PADD and listened. "Good Morning Kris." The Voice Stated.
An image appeared. "This man is Voran Nar. A Member of the Bajoran Vedek Assembly. We now have reason to believe that Mr. Voran is a suspected Collaborator from the Occupation, and still maintains ties to the Cardassian Union. With these ties in place, we believe that Vedek Voran is feeding information about the Agricultual projects on Bajor."
"This is dangerous to Colonial and Bajoran Security. If Vedek Voran manages to feed information about the nature of agricultural development on Bajor to the Cardassians, we suspect the Cardassians would attempt to deploy a toxin that Agricultural Program would be powerless against. Without any agricultural exports, the Bajoran Economy will collapse. Your mission, terminate Vedek Voran at all costs." The voice continued, "As usual, we expect your standard finesse in this execution. The Bajoran government must not know we were involved here."

Kris entered the garden at sunset, just when the last of the Vedeks were finished tending the Garden. She noticed her target tending to one of the plants and moved toward an area where she could take advantage of the shadows before she could strike.
Mara tugged furiously at the plant. She had never felt this dirty or miserable before in her life and this damned earring itched. She tugged at her lobe and finally disconnected the clasp from the back, tossing the now loosed jewelery in amongst the plants. Maybe no one would find it there. She went back to yanking at the weed in the darkened corner of the garden and wondered, once again, why her parents had felt a week 'getting to know her spiritual side' would appeal to her in any way. They should have figured out by now that she didn't *have* a spiritual side. Her eyes caught the figure of the attractive young Vedek who was walking down the path towards her and she sent him a small smile, as she wiped a bit of dirt from her forehead. Maybe this hadn't been entirely a bad idea.
As the Vedek walked down the path, Kris began to walk toward him with the sun behind her to make sure that he could not see what was coming. Before him stood a dark figure that eclipsed the sun. But Kris did not see the girl turn behind the Vedek. She aimed the silenced pistol the split second she came into view behind the Vedek, and fired a slug into the Vedek's head.
Mara watched from where she was well concealed as the man's expression slackened and he slumped forward into the flowers that she had spent *all* evening tending. She hurried over to him and rolled him over, his eyes vacant and staring as she found the bloody fissure in his skull that told her everything she needed to know. She gaped and looked up and around. "Somebody help!" She choked the words out, just as she caught sight of someone, someone definitely not a Vedek, as the figure disappeared into the darkness of the coming eve.
She didn't say anything, the eclipsed figure then vanished into the nearby shadows. The Shadow produced by the sunsets concealed her escape, and it was like she could disappear at will.

Kris began to make the report. "As ordered Vedek Voran has been terminated. Agent was not identified. Now that Voran has been dealt with, the Bajoran Agricultural projects will continue unhindered by Cardassian influence."
She spoke as she thumbed the earpiece around in her hand. "On a second note, execution was witnessed, but the Agent was not identified. Witness was a young Bajoran Girl. Witness could not identify the Agent due to being blinded by the sun."
Being seen was sloppy, but it was excusable as long as she was not identified.
