Boarding The D'Kora Class

Mission: The Mystery Men of Mira
Location: Deck 121, Marine Holodeck Training

They had run the drill several times... The Holodeck operator needed to make some adjustments to the program that was glitching up. Dunmore saw this as an opportunity to speak with the Platoon Commanders. As young officers are they were huddled together to the side of their Platoons. The discussion came to a halt as the Sergeant Major walked toward them. They were uncertain of him. He was a large Marine and Forty Years in uniform.

"Gentlemen, please don't stop on my account." He stepped into the circle of Marine Lieutenants.

Tully used his low voice with the young Men.

"The D'Kora class seems really big, I know. It was built for trade, long duration trade to be exact. Our friends the Ferengi aren't fools. We have been working on this particular model because your gonna be standing on one of these things very soon." Tully's calm tone seemed to sooth their concerns as soon as he started speaking.

"Look, in most cases we'll board through the transporter room. That gives us a fire team to secure that location for a minute till the next fire team shows up. The vessel has 22 decks. We only need Four of them to control the ship. If things go well it shouldn't take us more than Ten minutes to get an entire Platoon on her. And I don't see us using that many Marines to search the vessel, I'm sure a full squad of armed marines in full battle gear will get them in the proper mood for cooperation."

"But what about the crew." Mentioned one of the officers.

Dunmore smiled. "OK, there could be as many as Four Hundred crewmen depending on their cargo, but I'll wager not many who will go toe to toe with us... Besides that's not how they work anyway. Why fight when you can conceal and bribe. The agreements we have in the sector stands... we can board any vessel for inspection. Of course they don't like those rules but that's to bad. They believe that we're actually to stupid to find the contraband their stashing."

Dunmore looked up to the deck operator and got the thumbs up. Dunmore moved away from the officers and motioned for the Platoon to gather around him.

"We're going to run this scenario the rest of the shift, Remember your timing. Hit your checkpoints and fields of fire. Lets stop bunching up and start looking like we have been doing this for years. This scenario won't have any crew on it, so stay focused on the movement. The first one will be a low light situation with no targets. Now lets look sharp. The Major plans to review video on this."

After a few groans and moans the scenario started. Fire teams were moving well and the timing was much better. The platoon leaders even seemed a bit more confident. Dunmore new they would be nervous basket cases their first time out, but it was like that for all Marines. If things went like the CO planned they would be able to board vessels in their sleep after a few weeks....
