A New Plan

Posted on Fri Apr 13th, 2012 @ 12:00am by Lieutenant Reggie Eito

Mission: The Mystery Men of Mira
Location: Main Engineering Breifing Chambers

::On::

Reggie Eito stood in the center of the chamber as his officers and section chiefs entered the auditorium. The seats had been arranged in a large circular fashion with the speakers platform in the center. The seating was close to 400 and he hoped it would be enough for his new team. Of course the briefing was being broadcast to the work centers for the team members who were mission essential to catch what the new boss had to say. Eito kept the meeting restricted to Star Fleet personnel only. He would meet the civilian contractors in a few days....

The lights dimmed as the engineers found the last seats available. A hologram of the station appeared in the middle of the stage. It dwarfed the small Lieutenant. It was smoothly revolving in the dark room.

Reggie began. "Ladies and gentlemen, fellow engineers. Welcome. My name is Reggie Eito, and I have the honor of being in charge of one of the Federations largest station projects. This station has a mission that is very demanding on it's support staff. You have had the best educations that the Federation could provide. Today I'm asking you to use it."

"I have looked at the units manning document. We have more than enough personnel to get the job done. There are the largest industrial replicators in space on board this hunk of metal. From now on you shall have support to make the decisions you need to make to get the job done. You have been working in an environment that has weighted you down with reports and acquisitions. That ends today." Murmurs floated the engineers.

"Now don't get carried away with yourselves, There will be some rules to start out with. I ask that you act in your individual fields.. I need power pro techs to stay at the plant, electrical on task and structural to stay on top of repairs. I will not have a staff to check your work, so get it done right the first time. Your motto is "don't walk away from nothing'. I will hold you to it. Now, our first issue is the the blasted lift system. I have reviewed the issue. Several teams will be assigned to check the system and schedule lift vehicles for maintenance. Most will be replaced with this prototype."

Eito pointed to a hologram drawing that appeared beside him. "This car will work longer and create power for the station through suspended hydraulics. We shall attack the system during the dog watch as not to hamper crew movement. Your going to be swift and sure. By my calculations this station should be fully capable at all stations in Three weeks. I'm including the assembly of the cars and rewiring needed to make the hydraulics provide power. The power is generated through the breaking of lift vehicles at high speeds and will be collected by pressure generators, converted into power and stored or returned to the stations grid."

Reggie started to see some of the crew supervisors taking notes and craning there necks to see the model...

"Here's the best of all, with time you spend begging for plan approval or sitting around waiting for parts can actually be spent getting the job done. After that I don't care what your up to." Many nods of approval from the last statement.

"Let me focus on one other issue before I turn you lose today. And that's safety. If your not sure what your doing just stop and ask for help. If someone asks you for help you had better drop everything and help them out. If I here of a mishap that was created by stupidity the repercussions will be most severe. WORK TOGETHER."

"OK, the senior Chief is giving me the signal to stop.. I need the chief Engineer team in charge of the warehouse and replication to remain behind. You are dismissed and thanks for coming by."

As the crowd dispersed he observed several Chief warrants approach...
"Have a seat." Eito pointed to the first line of bleacher seats

"I have been a very busy man the last few hours. "I'm going to give you experts a chance to explain why half your section just can't show up for work. Then tell me why hundreds of parts requests are not being met. Then If I don't like your pitiful excuses you can tell me what your next assignment is going to be..."

Nothing. Several of the older warrants just attempted to blame other sections. Eito listened to the excuses for Ten minutes. Reggie knew his target. One warrant was louder that the rest and had been there the longest. He had actually made the statement that his team was inferior, it wasn't his fault he was surrounded by idiots.

When the warrant finally ran out of air , and others to blame Reggie smiled. He looked at the large man, "Chief I just want to be the first to congratulate you... on your immediate retirement at half pay. I suggest you look for a new set of luggage and get off my station." Eito snapped his fingers and two security officers appeared to escort the warrant to the next transport of station.

"Now that the rest of you are firmly briefed on my commitment I suggest you pull yourselves together. I want major improvements in your sections. Clean and organized warehouses and get those parts made same day. Any questions on how to do that? I didn't think so. Get to work. If you make a commitment to this station I shall forget your shameful past."

Eito turned on his heel and walked out of the auditorium. he quickly retreated to his office to begin monitoring the progress of his engineers.
