Mission:
The Mystery Men of Mira
Location: Deck 200
::On::
Lieutenant Eito had arrive early. The panel was removed quickly and Reggie pondered at the circuits for several minutes. He had used some interesting software earlier that tracked hot spots at certain locations. This panel adjacent to a lift station had a signal that he needed to check. After turning off the anti-tamper switch he tested the board. Yup it would soon cook itself. His assistant watched as he removed the board and inspected it. Corrosion had ruined the mounting surface.
He smiled. "Please get down to the warehouse and grab me a few of these Circuit boards and about ten moisture bags, Make sure they are pure silicon though." The engineer took off like a shot. Reggie turned back to the conduits searching for the cause of the corrosion in the panel. After tugging and pulling the harness back he observed a small ventilation filter at the top of the panel. It was very hard to get to and completely clotted with dust and looked like it had never been changed. In fact it was so well hidden most would never see it. He pried on it for a few minutes and finally tore it out. He could feel clean air suck from the small opening.
After several minutes of study on his padd Eito was sure this would be a main cause of the lift panels overheating. Maintenance had not been properly carried out over the years. The filters were never checked and clogged, thus creating moisture and corrosion in the unit. He tapped his padd and did the math. He realized he would need a lot of those small filters...
His assistant returned. "Here you go. Sure didn't take long to get this part." He laughed as Eito reinstalled the board and sent him on another mission. "When you get up to the warehouse have them check for upgrades on this filter an get me a few maintenance carts full of them."
"Yes Sir."
Reggie had moved from one lift station panel to the next monitoring the conduits heat at each panel. After Six hours he had completed over Twenty panels and they all had the same clogged environmental issue. The Senior Chief had checked in with him and was explained the situation. Soon there was several teams out pushing carts and changing out the filters.
Reggie stepped into his office and went straight to his computer. Tapping the screen 'Computer, list ambient temperature on lift stations 12 through 22.' There it was, the levels had dropped significantly in the last Six hours.
'Computer, list temp alarms for those sections and all automatic resets and overrides.' He looked at the screen before he started there were hundreds of resets... After the panels were checked and filters replaced there were only Four. But those Four panels had reset properly and working at the proper temp.
After several more calculations he was surprised to observe the lift station panels that had been repair were running at 100%. Up from 44%. Success.
"Lets monitor these lift panels and check the filters every Three shifts. That will solve have of the lift issue." The Senior engineers nodded in agreement and were of to organized more teams to attack the panels. It would take a few more shifts to get the system back to optimal levels but the effect was indeed dramatic to the crew.
The next plan was to complete the lift car upgrades as soon as possible. he spent the next Ten hours coaching several teams on the station. He was glad he was wearing softer boots..
