Gunning took another swig of his drink and laughed at the barkeep's story. "That reminds me of one I heard back in Scotland. There was this golfer, right. And he was not having a very good day..." The voice of Captain Gunning trailed off in the commotion of "Warp 12". With the ongoing war exercises, there was a lot of talk about the Sojourners, but most of the conversation was just the patrons trying to unwind. Customers from every walk of life were sharing their drinks, finding a common social hub to relax and drink their cares away. Gunning's presence didn't really attract too much extra attention since he often came down for a drink and to mingle with the station's inhabitants. It was both a chance to catch up with his older crew members, or get to know the new.

Kuramochi walked into the what she was told was the best bar in town going by the rather odd name of Warp 12. She had arrived a few days early and decided to spend those getting use to the place and the people. Hence she was in her own outfit of highly detailed black and silver and even brought her bow and arrows along which generally didn't stray far anyhow. She spend about a minute taking the sights and giving a friendly nod to those who noticed her before making her way to the bar. The bartender swiftly approached her to take her order. "Scotch Islay single malt." she told the man and waited for her drink.

Having finished his tale, Alex turned to the newcomer. He did not immediately recognize her, but that was not unusual on a station this size. "Scotch, eh? You've got good taste."

"Well it is one of the few drinks that my body tolerates and it tends to be the better tasting of the lot." Kuramochi said with a smile, she knew perfectly fine who the man was, but she wasn't going to tell him that or tell him who she was, if he didn't know all the better as she could get to know the man with his defenses somewhat lowered. The barkeep put down a glass on the bar in front of her with a nod and hurried off to help others. Kuramochi than took the glass and took a careful sip of it.

"I'll drink to that," Gunning answered, raising his own glass of whiskey. "I do occasionally try new drinks. We have a lot of people come through the station selling a lot of different tastes. I don't know how she does it, but Ms. Akiashiro always has a wide and varied selection. Still, you can't go wrong with the classics." He takes a sip of his drink and sets it back on the table. "So what brings you to the station. I'm guessing you're Starfleet. I doubt security would let you walk around with a bow otherwise, even if Commander O'Connell is away."

"I am indeed, on my way to my assignment I thought I dropped by here before getting to work. As for the bow well they didn't like the idea, but it was cleared anyway, part of our tradition." Kura said and took an other sip, "And the classics are indeed the best, though I have leaned to the Islay mainly."

"Good choice. I personally prefer something from the lowlands, though I'm a little biased since I grew up in Glasgow. I'm guessing that you're Klune judging by the bow. So, where's your new assignment. Are you serving here, or just passing through?"

"You are sharp, most don't know my species and the bow alone is hardly a give away as it comes merely from my clan of hunters, still enough kinetic energy in it to drop about anything short of this elephant I saw in a holodeck once." Kura said taking an other sip, she hoped the capt wouldn't notice her still kinda clear skipping of his last question, but than humans where prone to compliments she had noted and they made them forget things once in a while.

"The bow was an important technological advancement on ancient Earth. Empires rose and fell by finding new ways to utilize the bow." Gunning went on chatting about history and weaponry, and missed Kuramochi's misdirection. "I've personally never handled a bow, though I have shot a few ancient firearms."

"The bow is a weapon that asks more from a person in strength and in mind, hence it takes years to master it, compared to a few weeks to be a good shot with a rifle or days with a phaser." Kura said sipping some from her scotch.

"That is very true. Still, there's something to be said about carrying a more easily concealable weapon." Gunning gestured toward her bow with his glass. "I'm sure you don't take that with you on every mission."

"Generally not, but I have other tricks up my sleeve." she said and moved her sleeve up a little showing a few fine throwing knifes, "Ceramic compound gets past about any security sensor, but than to actually hit something with these is an skill few have." her smile was oddly friendly without any mean tone to it one could expect from what she just showed.

"I'm glad you're on our side," Gunning responded with a smile. He started to take another sip of his drink. "You are on our side, right?"

Kura dug her hand in a pocket and took out a coin, "Lets see, tails Federation, head Romulan Star Empire." she said with a faint smile and flipped it in the air before catching it swiftly and putting it on the back of her hand, "Tails, so I guess I am on your side." she said and the coin vanished again, for a good reason it was a coin with 2 times the same side.

"Let's hope we don't have to rely only on luck. I've known it to come back and bite me on the rear."

"My latest mentor told me the following; Luck is really nice when it is on your side, always appreciate it when it is, but always assume it is not and prepare accordingly." Kura said with a faint smile and put down a by now empty glass on the bar, "But humor and tell me a tad about you, with us just talking about me I am starting to get curious."

"I'm not sure there's much to tell. I was born in Glasgow on Earth. I've played a lot of football, though less in the recent years. Through my early career I focused on tactics and security. I have a half brother who is also in Starfleet, Jordan. Last time I heard from him, he was serving on a ship in the Delta Quadrant. Since I've been in command, I've spent way too much time worrying about my crew, and nearly got us all killed by walking into an ambush at Thane." He finished off the rest of his scotch. "That's me in a nutshell."

"Not half bad, outside of the ambush I don't like being caught of guard myself." Kura said and leaned against the bar looking at the man for a moment or two, "However I guess that is part of the reason they send me here." she got up and smiled. "Allow me to introduce myself, Ensign Kuramochi Chiyeko starfleet intelligence and assigned to here as chief of intelligence. O and most people call me Kura or Chi, both work." She didn't stand at attention or salute seeing the setting was informal and she wasn't on duty nor in uniform, so she simply extended her hand for a shake.

Gunning stood and shook her hand. "I had a feeling. Most members of the intelligence group that I've dealt with tend to be pretty sneaky. I guess it's in the job description. Captain Alex Gunning, commanding officer of this here station. It's nice to meet you, Ensign. With the Sojourners acting up, it will be nice to have someone dedicated to intelligence again. Welcome aboard. If you need anything, my office is usually open, but I have a feeling that you already knew that." He added a broad smile with that last statement.

"Who says a locked office door would keep me out in the first place?" Kura added with a mischievous smile. "All joking aside glad to be part of the team, 5 years of school and training and you really feel the itch to get working again."

"Well, welcome aboard. I should probably get going. It's getting a bit late. I'll see you in Ops in the morning. It was nice meeting you, Ensign." Gunning shook her hand and excused himself from the lounge. He knew that he should probably be getting to bed, but he felt like going for a walk instead.
