Deck 1403

Samanthia replaced everything back the way it was in her spare room, except a small easily carried case. She carried with her as she left the apartment with a smile on her face at the future held for her on this discovery. It would surely bring more notice from Fleet and the science community. As Iconian Artifacts sought after by everyone and their pet animal. And a newly discovered one would propel her new career into the limelight as a premier Archeologist and forcing 'Mr. Isotep' to drop her like a hot potato.

She moved through the corridors of Deck 1403 towards the business side of the deck and the hangers. She had a bounce in her step coming to the Security Checkpoint into the Merchant Consortium. Since they knew her pretty well, they let her pass with the usual greetings and checking of the ID. Her personal communicator that was linked to Akiashiro business network and her own, chimed.

Samanthia scowled as she took a look to see who was calling her. It was Zeb from The Dive. She debated briefly whether to call him back or pay a visit. Ended up passing her case off to an employee with instructions to secure it aboard her type-6 long range shuttle, then turned, making her way towards the central section and the turbo-lifts.

She knew that Zeb rarely called her and when he did. It was something important. Besides he hada knack in handling the rougher elements of the Star Base. Someone you could trust to watch your back.

She stepped aboard the turbolift, "Deck 2301" She commanded, giving the Security team that held the lift for her, causing delays at the other three central turbo-lifts. She leaned against the railing as the turbo-lift descended down to the proper level.

Deck 2301

Samanthia moved through the busy industrial and warehousing deck to The Dive. A lot of the workers waved, nodded, greeted her as she passed by them in the maze of corridors. She smiled at them, yelled back her greetings and a few she returned their waves.

The Security Team parked themselves near the turbo-lift. Joking to each other they should hold up the lift again. But they let it go. Seeing it would give them more time with an easy assignment.

Samanthia walked into the Dive, seeing it was a bit more crowded than usual. She picked up snatches of conversation as she passed by occupied tables.

"... heard there was a new Security Chief.."

"...Like the last one? Show up and then ..Poof!?" Making hand motion of disappearing or exploding into nothingness.

Samanthia continued on, moving to the bar. Seeing Zeb hard at work, polishing the already highly shined bar-counter. She gave him a wave as she slipped past the divider into the Employee area of the Bar.

"What's up?" She spoke as she settled onto her barstool behind the counter. She watched him put away the rag and moved next to her. He signaled for one of the waitresses to work at the bar, getting drinks.

"Not much. Just the usual rumors of getting a new Security Chief while you was out and about from the station." Zeb spoke as he leaned back against the back shelving. "Just wondered if you heard anything about it through your family?"

Samanthia looked thoughtful. She had forgotten about checking her messages that usually was stored till she deleted them. "Nothing yet. I should go check real quick." Another delay. "Is it okay to use the office computer?"

"Yeah go ahead," Zeb nodded as he was curious about any information on the new Security Chief to the station.

Samanthia stood up and entered the backroom that served as the storeroom and office for the Dive. Making her way through the stacks of booze and various other drinks to the office with Zeb following her. "How's the place running?"

"Got a nice set-up here. Everything always prepped to be moved if needed. Just have to scrounge for new furniture if this place gets raided by some stupid customer." He spoke as he watched her settle in the chair behind the desk.

Soon Samanthia had her messages up on the screen and going through them quickly, looking at those from Family and Akiashiro Merchant offices. There was a brief mention of a new Security Chief, But so far nothing concrete was showing up. Not even a blip except for the appearance of one. Then nothing.

"Either he decided to sneak out the backdoor without even saying hi or he's terribly very shy." Samanthia spoke exiting her message center. "From one extreme to the next. All gung ho to a total Zippo!"

Zeb gave one of his smiles, "Yeah. Even a Zippo can cause trouble for us." Tilting his head at the stock that created two of the walls to the office.

Samanthia nodded, looking thoughtful. "See if 'Others' have anything on this new Security Chief." Standing up to vacate the seat.

"I'll pass the word, Sammy." Zeb spoke in his thoughtful manner. "See what I can find out from this end."

"I'll do the same upstairs." She left the office heading back to main part of The Dive.
