A New Aquantance

Promenade

Samanthia moved through the busy corridors of the Promenade, having slipped her security guard entourage. But they would catch up sooner or later. It seamed that majority of the refugees had settled down as there was less of them. Either been relocated to another planet or gotten suckered by the OCS into jobs elsewhere within the Alpha and Beta quadrant. It whipping around a corner and right into a towering Marine back, trapping a furry tail between them. "Ooof!"

S'er'in'e took a moment to observe station life, it was different to wgat he expected as he watched the people go about daily routines and lives. He was given the looks one such as he might expect but thought nothing of them, he thought little about much until someone walked into him unexpectedly from behind.

By necessity his tail quickly wrapped around the person to prevent himself from falling, the act obviously seen as a desperate one. Caitians use the tail to balance themselves from falling which could result in injury if the fall was a bad one. He quickly regained his balance with the aid of his hand on the near bulkhead. He was not sure how to feel, mildly displeased perhaps since he was walked into and he was indeed a figure hard to miss. Or angry perhaps as a fall could have caused him serious injury.

Once composed again he slowly turned to face the person responsible and in doing so gradually unwrapped his tail from then. He came to see a slender female of approximately five and a half feet tall, black hair to each side of her face and intregingly blue eyes. "Are you alright Ma'am?" He asked, he was not the softest person to walk in to.

Samanthia was about to step back, when the tail wrapped around her upper abdomen, trapping her as the Caitian regained his balance. She braced herself as she caught his uniform jacket to help steady him. She let go when he began to face her, feeling the tail slide off of her. "I'm fine." Looking up at the towering Caitian that stood before her. "I hope I didn't cause you any duress." Him being a Marine had to be made of sterner stuff. She stood there looking at him. "Besides this is a very busy corner! If you wanted to rubberneck at the crowds. You could stand over there." Pointing to spot that was free of obstructions and a bench to even sit and relax upon.

Samanthia looked him over taking in his stature. Taking note of the rank and uniform. She sighed softly, made eye contact with him again. "Or sit at one of the many cafe's or bars or taverns or lounges to observe those that pass by."

She definitely wasn't Fleet by how she was dressed in nice pair of beige slacks, sandals, nice cream yellow white blouse with a few of the top buttons undone. She had just freshly arrived from the planet that was nearby and easily seen from the station.

"Thank you." S'er'in'e said softly' his voice laced with more feline undertones than usual. "I am new on board this station. I am so far still unfamiliar with the dealings on board and its many facilities."

He looked at her attire. "I apologize." Indicating with his hand that he had left some errand strands of fur upon her attire. He had not meant to dirty her so but the situation as it was forced his hand.....or tail to be more precise.

"For what?" She looked down at her clothing. Seeing a few cat hairs on her blouse, she shrugged and wiped them away with a flick of her wrist. "Being new to here to the station? Or standing in middle of a major walkway?" Looked up at him again. "There are information kiosks and a very up to date route marker systems. Let me get you a glass of.. or a bowl of creamy milk for my blundering into you like a klutz. It's not often we see Caitians on the station."

"Both it would seem." S'er'in'e answered. "A glass would be most welcome." He bowed his head slightly the act itself having the effect of the light glinting off his gold sheathed ears. "I am S'er'in'e." He spoke introducing himself as he stepped aside to allow her to lead the way.

"Nice to meet you, Serine." Samanthia didn't bother to make the effort to pronounce his name correctly as it was close enough for her. She liked the way his name sounded. "I'm Samanthia Akiashiro of the Akiashiro Merchant Consortium." She moved on down the new corridor lined with shops and various businesses. We run about 90% of the station." As if the Fleet was here at the Akiashiro's Blessings.

"Honoured to meet you." S'er'in'e replied, perhaps not the most ideal way to meet someone, bumping into them but a friend was a friend none the less. "Trade would appear to be profitable." He spoke while following her. He saw various shops and stalls, those shopping and sellers with many goods. He was hardly bothered over her pronunciation of his name, not many could manage it and he was used to it.

"Well... Fleet's stronger presence here has brought more trouble to this sector," Samanthia glanced at S'er'in'e, "than it's worth. They're hindering trade both to outlying planets and into the Federation." Giving a shrug as she moved gracefully. Occasionally giving waves and smiles to those she knew as they made their way to Warp-12, her Lounge/Club. She glared at a bunch of uniformed security personnel with the Akiashiro Logo patch as she gave them a discrete wave off.

"I am sorry to hear that." He knew it all to well though, it always was the case when free independent traders were saddled with the needs and wants of a major power and Starfleet was no different. "I hope I am not distracting you from prior plans of business or your Mate with your offered drink?" As he followed her through the crowds he noticed the looks, following stares, mutterings at this tall feline in tow behind a noted member of society on the station.

Samanthia laughed softly, "Only thing that keeps me here is my business that I am in charge of. Warp 12 Lounge and Club and The Dive down on the lower decks. Which a lot of the Marines find much more to their liking." Looking back at the Towering Caitian Marine following her. "I'm single at this time." Slowing her pace to walk beside him. "You have a mate?"

From what he was hearing Samanthia seemed a very busy woman with her various charges on board the station. He was glad to hear she was single, Caitian teachings hand down a rather strict decree dealing with females whom have a Mate as conduct has to be in such a way that leave no cause for the Mate to take offence or shame. Since she was single it did make being there with her, to share a drink, much easier as there wasn't someone attached to her he had to worry about. "No, I do not. Amongst my caste the Elders at the right age pair a male and female together, they live together for one standard year where it is hoped in that time they will develop feelings for each other. I left the Homeworld before it was my time and so I have no Mate."

There was a hint of pain to his words, his parents were so proud of him, his accomplishments, his training and teachings. When he departed Cait however he could see the disappointment in the eyes of those he loved knowing what he was surrendering to Starfleet and other offworld interests.

Samanthia glanced up at the towering Caitian beside her as the made their way to Warp-12, "I'm sure you'll find a mate worthy of approval of your Elders bringing honor to yourself and clan when the time is right." She gave S'er'in'e a warm smile patting his arm gently. "I wouldn't worry to much about it. Unless you got a rare non-curable Caitian Disease that'll cut your life short."

"Not that I am aware of, I am as fit and healthy as the day I left the Homeworld." S'er'in'e replied as they walked through the establishment. The pat on the arm restored some ease at the situation though the looks still stemmed forth towards him. Warp-12 appeared busy and S'er'in'e asked. "Is this establishment always like this?" Hives of people moving about, laughter, talking and the like.

"Except when I'm closed to change the holographic setting and for the two hour major clean up." Samanthia led him into the busy Lounge like club. There was several performers in Fleet uniform playing softly a lively jazz number on the stage. Another group of performers, from the looks of what they was wearing, were going to put on a theatre production. "22 hours - seven"

She lead him to a seat that offered privacy, yet good view of the big view port of the stars, ships, and the room of patrons. The room had the look of being inside a huge main room of a stone castle or fortress with the tapestries of various activities from ancient times from different species all across the known galaxy. Even the floor had straw covering that cushioned people's footsteps and paths, where majority traveled, clear of straw to show a stone floor. Plants arranged in a manner to provide privacy, yet still gave a view of the sage and view of the stars.

Samanthia turned to a passing waitress, "Glass of creamy milk and my usual." Motioning for S'er'in'e to have a seat as she sat across from him. Letting him take his time in taking in the view. Even the few tapestries that showed ancient Caitian activities.

S'er'in'e continued to follow, observe and take in what was going on around him through the changing scenery that made up the establishment. The view from where they sat was commanding yet partially shielded by plants and other decorations which afforded them a degree of privacy. "Samanthia." He paused as he turned his attention back to her. "If you don't mind my asking, with all your duties and requirements of business, do you have time to hobbies or the like when your time is not so demanded by work?"

"Archeology," Samanthia spoke softly wit ha soft smile. "Anthropology is next on the agenda once I get my doctorate in Archeology. Iconian specialty." Turning her attention to the stage as the room darkened just enough to see to avoid accidents, except for the stage area which the Thespians took the stage after the Fleet band vacated the stage. "You have any interest as hobbies or leisurely things to relax you?"

A different waitress came by laden with a tray of various drinks and served them their drinks, nodding at S'er'in'e with an appraising look. Then gave Samanthia a nod as she scooted off to serve others their drinks, while the Thespians began Romeo and Juliet. Romeo Vulcan/Romulan as the female was Klingon. They was speaking in their respective languages. Of course above them in holographic was the translation in text.

Certainly an in depth woman with an eye to that she seeks S'er'in'e thought. "Nothing as exciting as perhaps a double doctorate I'm certian." He gave his best covert evasion, a private individual as he was was. "Holo deck activities mostly, I like to train in private." He sipped his drink, it was cool and slightly sweet and just the right thickness to allow ease of consumption. He split his attention between the show on display and his table partner. "I would guess business often takes you off station and back to it would it not?" The lighting as it was dark enough to nearly mask his size to the background.

"My schooling does. But the Consortium provides the liquors and stock for the Lounge. I'm just the Senior Manager of the place with semi-free reign of the place to run it how I please. As long as I show profit." Samanthia leaned back in her seat, enjoying the moment before getting ready for her trip out into the unknown.

S'er'in'e nodded, education was always important, be it civilian or military the learning of knowledge was a valued element of life. He sipped his drink again as he gazed back at the performance, quietly whispering the words displayed above the performers in Caitian. Then realized what he was doing without realizing. "Sorry..."

Samanthia smiled, "No worries." She then spoke Juliet's part, ad-libbing the emotions behind the words, leaning towards S'er'in'e as she spoke softly, loud enough to be heard, yet not to interfere with those listening. Letting herself be caught up in the moment and to see if the Big Caitian Marine would relax enough to participate.

"If I profane with my unworthiest hand. This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand. To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." S'er'in'e replied in standard this time, in Caitian the meanings would be lost in translation. In order to understand Humans and Starfleet one first had to understand its history and culture.

Samanthia smiled delightfully at S'er'in'e, "I see you're well versed in Earth Litature." She suddenly frowned seeing a flashing light over the bar. "Excuse me. I must depart. Please enjoy the rest of the play." She stood up and departed. Heading to the bar with purpose.

S'er'in'e watched Samanthia depart, wondering if at a moment he'd done something to offend. He stayed to watch the rest of the act before departing hoping while doing so to catch sight of her again but failing to do so.
