Station Security - The Setup

Posted on Mon Nov 23rd, 2015 @ 7:24am by Commander Jordan Gunning & Master Chief Petty Officer Arathenar ch’Darnath

Mission: By Dawn's Early Light
Location: Security Centre [Deck 13, Starbase 332] & Various Locations Throughout
Timeline: 1040hrs.

[Security Centre, Deck 13]

"This is Station Security Operations Station SO-1. All civilian and non-essential personnel are to evacuate to designated muster point A as of oh-five-hundred hours.

"How's it going?" Gunning emerged from his office looking like he'd just gone ten rounds with an Elasi pirate and placed a hand on the shoulder of his Master-at-Arms who was glaring intently at a console.

The Andorian grumbled and curled a lip as he said, "Like trying to heard half a million tundracats ... in the dark ... without a net."

"Well, with the internal sensor power being given over to the long-range sensors, we don't have much choice but to do things individually." The Commander chastised gently. He wasn't surprised that the old Non-Comm was looking a bit irritated - he felt it himself. Most of the internal sensor arrays had been powered down to help the preparations in other parts of the station, meaning that there was no guarantee they'd be able to get everyone and with the relative unpopularity of the evacuation plan among the civilian population, there was no guarantee that everyone on the lists which had been given to Bancroft would turn up at their muster points.

"Oh, I understand, sir," ch'Darnath replied, shaking his head wearily. "I just don't like it."

"Bancroft'll have it in hand, don't worry. If there's one thing she is, it's fastidious. Who better to hand over all the paperwork side to?" Gunning himself had been working around the clock with his own personnel and those from Ops setting up the 'Evac Centres' at they'd come to be known. Hastily fabricated bunk beds and eating tables were inserted into some of the larger rooms and cargo areas near the station's central core and would be sealed and guarded during the duration of the battle. Without adequate time and - most importantly - resources to fully evacuate everyone there was no other option.

The master at arms nodded, "Indeed, she probably is the best of the bunch." He stood up straight and rubbed the dull tension at the back of his neck. "Still, I worry about what might happen in those snake pits. All those anxious people in a confined space ..."

"Factor into that some of the less desirable elements of the civilian population and we could have a powderkeg. That's why we're relying on our teams to do their jobs." He hoped they didn't do them too forcefully.
