Mission: The Art of Survival
Location: Von's Office
Timeline: Current

S'er'in'e tucked away in his office had been going over the updates on craft repairs, two fighters had been repairs and were undertaking flight trials for certification but many were still grounded. A new shipment of craft were coming but there was no news yet on when they would arrive and this delay caused some ground crews to wonder if they would be sticking around 332 or they would be reassigned elsewhere.

New pilots were also inbound which meant a fresh wave of orientation treks of the hanger, craft and ground crews when they arrived but new people always had rough edges and most of these were fresh from the Fight School. He tried to keep people busy and distracted from the blatantly obvious lack of craft and people but those efforts would only go so far and he was running out of ideas. What craft he did have operational formed only a partial CAP around the station and some were on training manoeuvres as per the orders he'd given Mason to help the new pilots gain experience and comfort with the craft. Other pilots were still on light duties and some no duties at all as they recovered, a small number were shipped to Earth with mental complications resulting from the battle, a few resulting from ejecting. S'er'in'e couldn't help but wonder at the sheer helpless feeling they must have experienced, no way to fight back, no way to return home but drift there watching friends battle and die and the constant fear of being picked off by a stray shot, or one not so stray at all.

The peace that was his office was broken by Captain Von's assistant, Yeoman Talelle, informing him that Captain Von would like to see him.

"I will attend presently." He closed the link with a puzzled look on his face, surely 4 claw marks don't warrant the Captain's attention. He left his office having issued orders relayed to Mason upon her return to resume operations as normal until his return.

*** Captain's Office ***

"I have been summoned by the Captain." S'er'in'e spoke affording the customary bow to the female.

Yeoman Talelle looked up at the towering Caitian, her antennae twitching at the site. There was no mistaking him with someone else. "Captain Von is expecting you, Colonel," she answered somewhat hesitantly as she gestured towards Von's office.

"Thank you." A slight bow in parting and he stepped through the doors.

Von answered the door chime with a simple "Come," not even looking up from her desk. She was engrossed with the travel orders detailed on her terminal screen. As she heard the swoosh of the doors closing, her eyes darted to see who had entered. "Ah, Colonel. Please have a seat." Von gestured at one of the chairs across from her.

"Captain." Another bow afforded before taking a seat. "You summoned me, how may I be of help?" His tail had coiled about his waist lest he sit on it, he didn't want to injure if further.

She didn't waste any time getting to the point. "I've been summoned to Cestus III to discuss the recent Ritorian aggression. I was hoping that you would accompany me."

"Of course Captain, a few questions. When do we leave, are there special considerations to account for?" S'er'in'e asked wanting to make sure that he picked the right craft for the requirements of the Captain.

"We leave in the morning, oh nine hundred. We won't be able to spare any of the garrison ships, so we'll have to take one of the smaller shuttles. We shouldn't expect any issues, but I am a bit worried about any Sojourner remnants. But it sounds like the Ritorians have been keeping them busy. I don't expect any issues, but it's good to know that I have a good pilot along for the trip. Besides, I figured the more of my officers I can get well versed on the situation, the better."

"As I understand Cestus III is almost a three day trip at medium warp, I would suggest the Aerowing Yacht, she is small enough to aid avoiding detection while at the same time providing comfort to yourself while on board for an extended period." S'er'in'e suggested, he was confident in his abilities even if his own fighter revealed otherwise but that was not his fault. Conflict often yields unseen surprises.

Von nodded along. "That sounds good to me. While we're there, it will be a good opportunity for you to make your argument for the fighter resources that you've requested." She held up her hands to stall any dissension from the Caitian. "I've submitted your requests, but I'm getting push back from the bean counters."

"I understand Captain." He hoped they were strong if they were going to push back against him when he got there. "With your permission I will begin preparations of the craft immediately?" He wanted minimal delays for when the Captain arrived, simply board and go.

It was still difficult for her to get used to S'er'in'e needing permission from her, but she wasn't going to argue about his culture. "Granted, Colonel. Once the arrangements are made, let Talelle know and I'll meet you in the morning."

"As you wish." S'er'in'e replied with his typically usual response when concluding a conversation with a female. He stood up unwinding his tail from his waist, a slight bow to Von as customary and then departed. He had to make sure the Aerowing was in top condition since its passenger would be the Captain herself.
