Troublesome Fighter

Posted on Wed May 4th, 2016 @ 2:30pm by Colonel S'er'in'e & Lieutenant Commander Le Austin

Mission: Brave New World
Timeline: Current

S'er'in'e had arrived in his office following breakfast with his Mate to see his crews still working hard to bring yet more craft operational for use, it was and still would be for a while a large feat in light of the losses they took in the battle not long ago.

Stacks of reports awaited him on his assistants desk and he collected them as he passed, most of them were updates on repairs which to his surprise some of the crews were pulling extra shifts which yielded two additional fighters for use in the CAP. Still there was much work to be done and supplies were at a premium considering the station wide repairs that were under way, perhaps though he may yet garner additional parts by a visit to Lt.Cmdr Le Austin. With additional supplies the reports indicated that another six fighters could be brought online within 2 days. That was an oppertunity that couldn't be avoided.

=^= Computer, locate Commander Le Austin? =^=

"Lieutenant Commander Le Austin is on Deck 625 near The Silver Ferengi Club," the computer replied in it's usual sing-song tones.

S'er'in'e made his way to that location which didn't take long given his long stride with each step. When he arrived he found a busy sight before him. "Excuse me, I am looking for Commander Le Austin."

"You found him," A set of boots hanging out of an access hatch replied. "Can't crawl out right this sec, who's that and what's up?" He asked.

"Lieutenant Colonel S'er'in'e, CAG." S'er'in'e replied to the voice from within the hatch. "I am seeking to acquire parts and systems for fighter repairs while we await shipment from Aerospace Command."

There was a snap, a loud his, and a pained yelp, followed by a mellow flow of steam from the access hatch, "Ow... yeah... okay, I fixed it..."

Austin crawled out looking at an angry red hand, "I scorched the hell out of myself, but I fixed it," He said with a sigh. He grinned at the pilot in front of him, "That's the best part of Engineering. You fix the problem then you have to fix yourself," He said with a chuckle.

"I don't think we've met yet," He said, offering the Caitian a hand to shake. "What kind of parts are you looking for?"

S'er'in'e shook the hand of the Commander, mindful of his claws lest he scratch him. "I have everything of Federation design here listed, there are some parts that are for my personal fighter however many parts that are needed for it can only come from the Homeworld."

Austin scanned the parts list carefully, going over each item. After a moment, he started nodding, "Yeah... I can repurpose most of this list," He said, "Should get it here faster. The Primary Modulator Piston and the Tertiary Influx Release Valve... those will be tough. May have to wait for resupply on those," He admitted, apologetically. "As far as the Caitian parts... I actually might have a resource to get those quick down on deck 945... He owes me a favor, so it shouldn't be too hard," He explained.

"I have the Caitian parts already requested from my Caste, I did however want to inform you of what those parts were before they arrived on the station. As for the Federation equipment, with the reduced capability of my wing at present I will be happy to accept what assistance you can offer." S'er'in'e replied. "I will provide import documentation should you need it when my parts arrive."

Austin gave a thumbs up, "No worries, mi amigo. If you want, I can probably get you the Caitian parts now, and we can replace them when your parts come in? I don't know if that makes a difference to you or not, but it'd at least speed up repairs some," He explained. "Unless it's a cultural thing I'm not aware of... I'm not super familiar with Caitian customs," He explained, offering a grin.

"It is a cultural thing, which is why I brought you the information about what it was that was coming, on the Homeworld those of my caste that graduate training are each afforded a fighter. Each is assembled by hand, the act of it in itself of importance to the significance of the graduation." S'er'in'e explained. He just wanted to let the man know the details of what was coming in case of hazardous materials or the like.

Austin raised his eyebrows and nodded, seemingly very impressed, "Very cool. I didn't know that. I'll let you know when your parts come in ASAP, okay?" He offered, respectfully.

"Thank you." S'er'in'e replied glad that he was making some headway at least into getting some of his damaged only fighters back in the air. "May I come to you should I require additional parts or is there someone else I should seek?"

"Nope, I handle all the req orders, so feel free to find me. If I can't get it through normal channels, I probably know someone on station who can supply it," Austin explained. "I wouldn't mind getting to tinker on that ship of yours too, if you ever need an extra set of hands. Promise: I know what I'm doing," He said, hoping to get an in with the CAG. The better relation he had with the department heads that depended on him, the better he could do his job.

"I will....consider it." S'er'in'e replied. It was obvious from his response that his fighter held some degree of importance to him and while it was better than a flat out rejection the hint was still abundantly clear.

It wasn't the buddy buddy, back patting response he'd been hoping for... but it was better than no at any rate. "Cool," He responded brightly. He held up his scalded hand which was now starting to blister and looked at it with a bit of concern, "Ah... yeah... I hate to cut this short, but I'm thinking this is going to require some dermal regeneration at this point," He said. "Catch you around?"

"Indeed." S'er'in'e replied then left the Commander to his medical needs.
