Mission: The Art of Survival
Location: Unknown M-Class Planet
Timeline: Current

S'er'in'e left the Captain making sure to take a good look through the vines that draped the entrance to make sure his exit went unnoticed and told the Captain he would use his claws to tap on a rock to indicate his return. With a final glance back at the Captain he lowered his position to appear exactly what he was, a large feline. Free of carrying the Captain his movements were quicker, more fluid and so he was able to cut the distance to the shuttle much quicker than before and to throw anything or anyone off he didn't take an exact route. As he travelled he found that he was not the only predator around, other large creatures that moved as he did, bulkier, heavier and equally armed roamed these areas. He detected no scents or tracks at the cave but it did add another threat level to the situation they found themselves in.

During one particular moment where he had to go around what appeared to be a parent and four infants, he observed them but aware that he could not dally lest he himself be hunted. He could not afford to be injured, the Captains survival greatly depended on his own condition, injured as it was. When the moment presented itself he moved and continued his efforts towards the crash site.

A few times he had to slow down as his injuries plagued him, he found himself short of breath but he knew physical exertion such as this was simple for a healthy Caitian, why then was he having troubles?

When he arrived at the crash site the shuttle still smouldered, smoke lightly emanated from the many breaches in the hull. The area was eerily quiet as if the crash had scared away the birds and creatures for a small distance around it. S'er'in'e was grateful for this as it would help him listen for incoming threats. He watched and observed for 10 minutes hidden within a row of bushes, the suns rays now fading to night but he could see clearly enough. Having seen nothing moving or nearing the crash he moved in and entered the wreck. Time was of the essence and he knew that, his search had to be quick but detailed enough not to leave anything vital they might need behind.

Towards the rear now that the fire had died out and they could get to it he could see what the Captain had mentioned about the damage. It was fortunate that he found a medical kit but it was badly burned, much of its contents destroyed. The scanner still worked however and he took this moment to scan himself, the news was grim. As he closed the scanner he knew it was only a matter of time, few days at most, he'd have to tell the Captain at some point.

S'er'in'e headed to the Captain's quarters to see what he could collect, now that the threat of being burned alive or perhaps the shuttle exploding had passed he could make a more detailed examination. He found a tunic of hers and zipped its front, tied its sleeves together, a makeshift sac. He found some of her effects, underwear, some uniform trousers and undershirt, a book and in another section of the ship two more packets of rations. He found a blanket, whole it was too big so with the use of his claws he tore it in two, rolled these up and put them into the sac. He was about to grab a pillow for the Captain when he heard something. He listened, it was coming from above.

He slowly exited the craft using it to hide behind while he saw where the sound was coming from, it turned out to be another shuttlecraft. It was landing behind the ridge and once out of sight S'er'in'e moved to the row of bushes he used before some few hundred meters away. He opted for this because the round was solid rock, there was no loose pebbles or rocks to worry about falling and giving his position away nor were there twigs or other tree matter that might cause a sound with his passing if stepped on. Silently and patiently he waited, he calmed his breathing from the momentary rush to the bushes as he didn't know how much time he had till that shuttles occupants crested the ridge. Silence once again became an ally.

He heard talking and wrist lights now the sun had dropped behind the mountains, he didn't think he'd been gone this long, that or perhaps the planet had a faster rotation than normal. Regardless however, his attention was needed on other things. He saw three figures crest the ridge and head towards the crash site, careless waving of lights gave away vital details. One was a Klingon, one was Human and the last Nausican. He could hear the Nausian most out of the trio as the silence aided in carrying his voice through the night. He watched as they entered the wreck. The search was quick as clearly they didn't find who they were looking for, the next moment of truth came by in a fortunate twist of discovery.

S'er'in'e watched the Human scan the area, made evident by an extended arm and a slow rotation 360 degrees. Clearly his answer displeased the Klingon who snatched the device out of the Human's hand. The ensuring argument that he heard told him that interference was blocking readings, that and he surely would have been detected at this distance otherwise, even without his commbadge the verbal exchange and shoving was enough of a translation. This was a critical piece of information. With all the information he felt he could get and mustering all the light-footed grace a feline could muster he slowly and quietly retreated from the area.

Injury or not time was an enemy and one that had taken a whole different, mobile and armed twist. Natural predators he could content with his size and vocalisations. Three armed, intelligent individuals however were a whole different matter. Once enough distance was between them S'er'in'e picked up the pace sometimes leaping into a full on sprint direct to the waiting Captain. His wounds pained him fiercely but he had to get back to the Captain and update her, they may have to move soon and put more distance between them. Moving during the night had advantages but also additional risks, nocturnal predators ruled the night and he was a newcomer here.

S'er'in'e's paced slowed considerably as he felt out of breath, his shoulder pained him and his chest stung. There was nothing to be done about his injuries much like the Captain's leg but his ways put her needs above his own, even if she depended on him.

When he returned to the cave it was dark, clouds loomed above and the moon hidden behind them trying to cast its light upon the ground between the breaks. He tapped on the stone as he mentioned not sure if the Captain would be awake or not. He then entered breathing heavily from the run to return with his cargo on his back. The night had turned very cold, he doubted that the trio would search for them tonight opting for daytime and better visibility in light of not having the use of scanners.

"Captain." He spoke softly, heard and understood now that he was in range of her badge.
