Captain's Log, Stardate... unknown

I fear that I may have walked my crew to their deaths and, even if that isn't the case, the death of their careers. Our ignorance of the politics of the time appear to have landed us slap-bang in the midst of a chain of events which will alter the landscape of Galactic South for centuries to come.

Our haste to reach the Archans for information on the spacial distortion which threw us here has seen us run into the Ritorian Confederacy in their land-grabbing heyday. They are treating the Excelsior with an undue level of respect, presumably based on the fact that they've scanned our ship and have realised that our armament is enough to take down every vessel that they have in the sector.

I suppose that's reassuring, if nothing else.

Prax informs us that the library computer records state that the Excelsior chose to deactivate the 'psyonic generators' around the planet but it does not explain how they managed to do it without taking heavy damage. There are at least three heavy battle cruisers which could put up a fight against the Excelsior and probably inflict some serious damage upon it. The records indicate that she escaped the system without so much as a scratch on her hull.

Other indicators seem to suggest that Starfleet were instructed to send a defensive force to Galactic South in the wake of the events here which appears to have been the catalyst for the construction and placement of Starbase Three-Three-Two. If that is the case; what is there to say that we're not meant to have been here all along? The idea that the Excelsior could make it out unscathed without our help definitely seems to suggest that there was a second ship. A stronger ship. Our ship.

It's strange, waiting for history to play out like this. My own impression would have been not to interfere but to return with the diplomatic right to attack- to have orders from Starfleet. I don't know about Sulu but it's in the history books. Someone launched a volley of torpedoes straight into the orbital generator and blew it to smithereens. We just can't let on that we know it's going to happen.
