The Carthage is now on the third day of our exercises. So far we have had no contact with Commander Ratchford and the Jackal. That's a good sign, but I know that crew to be very resourceful, and I have a feeling the Commander has a few tricks up his sleeve as well.

We have arrived at the Garus system. There doesn't appear to be any alarm, so we may still remain undetected. I've asked Lt. Commander O'Connell and Captain Griffiths to prepare to head to the planetside facility. Their objective is to locate Doctor Michael Montell. While Dr. Montell is aware of the exercises, and is expecting us to come after him, he does not know when. It is safe to assume that our team may run into opposition. Of course, this is a simulation, so they will be using dummy phasers that are only set for low stun. Safety is always a concern when dealing with live fire situations.

For the sake of the exercise, it will not be required to actually bring Dr. Montell aboard. Our team merely needs to locate him and contact the ship. With a little luck, we will be en route to our next objective within the hour.
