New Day, New Attitude...Hopefully

Mission:
Brave New World
Location: Operations Center, Starbase 332
Liam stood in the turbolift, as he did the day before, on his way to the Starbase's Operations Center. He had finished the task ordered by Commander Le, and now it was time to see what other torturous tasks the Bajoran had in store for him. There would definitely be some time and effort needed to mend their relationship, but if Liam sucked it up, he figured he could do it.
As the doors slid open, Liam walked over to the Operations Hub and smiled at the Commander. "Lieutenant Harrison, reporting for duty, sir." This time, Liam was sure to leave out any mention of a work station. "What are my orders for today, Commander?" he asked with forced enthusiasm.
"Get to your workstation and get to work," Austin replied, regarding the kid and nodding to a work station in the corner. "I need my computer systems working like clockwork, and from what your record says, you can make that happen."
"...That's it?" Liam asked raising an eyebrow at the Commander. "No enormous task that will take me the whole day? Nothing that has me crawling through jefferies tube after jefferies tube?" He didn't realize what he was saying as he said it, the words just flowed out of his mouth. Only after he spoke did he realize that he should have just kept his mouth shut and gone to his little work station.
"Nope," Austin replied, smiling. "Look, you screwed up with me, then you had to report to me. I gave you a life lesson and a crappy job to complete. The data conduits you replaced are operating far beyond normal operating standards, which means you not only did the job you did it well. So you didn't blow off a menial task just because it was a bull assignment. Which means you and me? We're good," Austin replied, nodding. "Just keep that man of yours from scrapin' the deck plating up in my hangars, okay?" He replied, grinning a bit. "Sojourners tore up enough, I don't need Starfleet Personnel helping too."
"Well, I can't promise anything for Tyler, but you can be sure I've learned my lesson here," Liam told Austin with a laugh. "Make sure you clean up the mess before your boss sees it." Liam looked over to his computer terminal and then back to Austin. "Is there anything specific you need me to work on today?"
"Nope, open task list. Unless you start cherry picking, I don't do hard assignments. Grab what you want and run with it," Austin explained. "Although... after yesterday, I won't notice if your cherry pick for a day or two," He said with a grin and a wink.
"Sounds good. And I don't cherry pick, sir. They're all the same to me," Liam told the Bajoran with a smug smirk. "Well, sir, I look forward to working with you. I hope we'll be able to achieve great things together."
"I'm sure we will be, Harrison. Stay out of trouble," Austin said, offering the younger man a casual salute as he turned back to his duties.
"Will do, sir!" Liam exclaimed as he smiled and began to head towards his duty station. The Bajoran man wasn't half bad, once Liam got to know him. Hopefully their relationship would continue without Liam crawling through access tubes all day.
