S'er'in'e had just come straight from his office back home with haste following an uncomfortable encounter with the Elder. It seems that his Mate had angered the Overseer and now he would pay the price for it. He expected that she may have trouble with his ways just as he did with hers as he found Human social struggles and pitfalls difficult at times to navigate. Mar'ess made it clear that in no uncertian terms she was recalling him to the Homeworld, away from Samanthia.
Did she view Samanthia's inclusion in his life so slightly that she would remove her presence from him? Would she risk his health to get her way? Of course she would. Mar'ess was the Overseer of the Caste, her will was indomitable, her command exactly that, a command. Every male served without question, every female elevated to rightful places of authority and for some positions of protection.
The token clutched in his hand he swept in through the doors not even letting them open fully before sliding betwwen them with the grace only a feline could muster. He had been told some of what transpired between Mar'ess and Samanthia, but not all.
"My Mate?" He called not sure if she was home or not then berating himself for not checking first.
Luck was with S'er'in'e as Samanthia appeared from the bedroom. She looked at him from top to bottom. "I suppose Maa'Resss seen you?" As she came to a stop in front of S'er'in'e, blocking his farther advance into the Quarters. "And you're here to tell me something that neither of us gonna like?" She had taken note of the time and it was way to early for him to be properly off-duty.
S'er'in'e nodded. Mar'ess was most unfavourable about Samanthia and well within her right S'er'in'e was punished for it. Mar'ess even went so far as to indicate dishonour and shame to the Caste for the inclusion of this 'Alien' into his life. As harsh as that was for S'er'in'e to hear Mar'ess nor S'er'in'e could do anything about it now. "She gave me this." He opened his large paw to reveal the token Mar'ess had given him. "The Overseer is recalling me to the Homeworld." His ears wilted and tail hung lower than usual. "She has forbid you from following until she deems it appropriate."
He closed his hand again. "She told me about what happened. My Mate that headband was not bribary, to call it such is a great offence to my Caste and our ways. It is yours by right, you saw my Father and that which he wore. I too will have that should I reach his age. Mother does not wear hers, she was never comfortable wearing it but that is her choice. The Overseer was just trying to get information about what happened to the disgraced Caitian to enter into the 'Halls of the Fallen'. Nothing more." He hoped this explanation impressed upon Samanthia the sheer gravity of the situation, one which she alone created.
Samanthia looked at him as she took the Token from him and looked it over. Giving herself time to think it over. "Then she should've asked you." She spoke softly, looking back up at him with an haunted look. "If it weren't for me in the heat of anger, Cr'eal would still be alive." She pocketed the Token and moved to look out the viewport into space. "And if I order you to stay, Would you still go?" She turned the token over with her hand as it was in her pocket. She looked at him over her shoulder at him.
"The Overseer will go the female first, always the male second. It is her way." He took a single step in from where she blocked his further entry. "Cr'eal attacked you, a female. Even had you not ordered me to do it I would been required to do it by Caitian Laws. A male can not harm a female, it is the ultimate disgrace." He paused as she moved away from him to the viewports. "Should you order it, I will obey." Both of them knew all too well that there would be consequences of that, if Mar'ess couldn't touch Samanthia then she certainly could get her claws into him.
=^= Chief Kane to Colonel S'er'in'e. Colonel, could you come to the Hanger Bay please?" =^=
S'er'in'e dropped his head, such an inopportune interruption if there ever was one. =^= I am on my way. =^= He looked back at Samtanthia still standing there at the viewports. "You know my answer my Mate, you need not even ask." He bowed to her as he typically did. "I will return when I am done in the Hanger." He purred his parting and the doors closed.
Samanthia sighed softly as she turned to look out the view at the stars. She wanted to bring happiness and stability to S'er'in'e life. Not being pulled in several directions at once between two cultures. She held the cursed token in her pocket. She scowled as she could've been more polite. Yet her command weighted heavily on her. She left the apartment and moved to Elder's suite of rooms.
