Location: Starbase 332
Timeline: Two days after Sharpe's arrival

- Officers Quarters -

Currently, the application to get a billet together was still in the cue so Sharpe was in his quarters getting settled in when the door opened and in walked Alex, smiling, then he took in how she was dressed and he groaned.

"When was the last time you used that particular Program Alex?" he asked.

Looking down at her outfit then back up "actually I have not long arrived here myself, but last time was that time on earth before we went our separate ways due to our postings" Alex said.

Sharpe took in her outfit, she was dressed in 21st Century combat fatigues, boots and a T-shirt, she had her dog tags showing, her usual pack was not with her nor were her swords, same for her pistols, so he figured that she would replicate holographic ones, if he was honest with himself, he did not understand why she never did that when she had first created said program.

"Give me a moment to get me changed and then we will go" Sharpe said as he left to get changed, during this time she walked around his quarters, he had two undershirts hanging up, his original yellow undershirt, then the blue one she gently caressed the fabric as she looked at his desk, it was remarkably well organised, he even had an old image of her with short hair, she made a mental note to get him an updated one to him, now that they were in the same place, it would be easier.

Fifteen minutes later Paul exits the back room in a similar set of combat fatigues he looked at her "okay lass let us go" he said and they both left his quarters and headed for the nearest turbo lift. While en-route they did a bit more catching up.

"So Alex, what have you been doing since you arrived here? It must have been a culture shock to go from a ship-based marine detachment to a full-blown Battalion?" Sharpe began.

Giving things a thought for a moment as she gathered her thoughts "well not long after I arrived here and got assigned my Company we had a drillmaster who was a bit O.T.T, then she suddenly left, so we were in the middle of a SERE training and I had to call it off, frankly I think everyone was happy, as, from the moment the instructor arrived, we did not have any breathing room. Otherwise, I have been getting to know my Company, it was one of those initially set up by Major Naomi Griffiths the former MCO, remember her?" Alex asked.

"Yes, I heard that she had to step down from her post as MCO on this Starbase, thus I assumed that she did not have the chance to develop the Omegas" Sharpe finished as they both rounded a corner and entered the nearest turbo lift, the moment the doors had closed.

"Holodeck One," Alex said and the lift took them down and across to their destination.

- Holodeck One -

As the pair walked out of the turbo lift and down the corridor, they closed in on Holodeck One and entered, Alex went over to the arch and began to type things into the interface. Where Paul was standing a long table with a very large assortment of weapons appeared on it along with a set of Wakizashi twin silver Desert Eagle Pistols, a Katana blade, a Walther PPK and a pair of P90s along with the P90 magazines. There were two modified packs and other accessories to accompany the weapons as well as modified extended Desert Eagle ammo clips.

Alex walked over to the table and put on the combat harness and then loaded up one of the backpacks with her ammo clips, this one had a dual ammo clip dispenser when it was loaded she put the pack on. Then added P90 magazines in the various pouches on her combat webbing. She tied down her twin holsters and put in the loaded desert eagles, finally she inserted her blades into the built-in scabbards on the pack, as she was doing this Sharpe was doing similar with his equipment.

"I do not know about the swords Alex, I have not used my Katana for a long time, why did you write a program that included blades anyway?" Sharpe asked.

"I dunno, I guess I like melee combat too much" Somers commented.

Both loaded their P90s with the sole remaining magazines and the rest of the program loaded in, first came to the environment and the point they were to defend. Sharpe looked again at his girlfriend "what level did you get on this solo again?" he asked.

"I succumbed to level 31, so I managed to get to level thirty out of one-hundred levels, with luck we should make it past that with two of us" Somers answered.

Looking at her incredulously "you do know that our ammo is finite?" Sharpe said looking back at him "this is why there are swords incorporated in this program, so are you ready?" Somers asked putting on some safety glasses, still looking dubious Paul followed suit "Computer begin" as battle cries could be heard getting closer both cocked their weapons.

"Showtime!" Alex said and the moment the first line of hostiles came into range both opened fire, picking their shots carefully and with precision, Alex more so than Paul.

In the brief moment as the hostiles charged Somers spoke "Computer play Somers Retro tunes list, loud-ish" she said, knowing this strange command will have the computer play her music and keep it high enough to be heard over the battle but low enough as not to distract.

As the hostiles came closer the first song to play was the music theme from the Matrix by Moby...

For some reason hearing, this music in the background did not bother Paul, the first song was different from last time, but he found his girlfriends predictability on the holodeck with her music comforting.

Even with shots carefully chosen, Alex was the first to shout "Reloading" with Sharpe a few seconds later, this went on for two hours before they had come down to their last magazine, which runs out quick enough. Both ditched their P90s and switched to side arms. As Sharpe only had one pistol he had pulled out his Katana and was swinging it with skill in between shots, the moment his clip was empty he ejected it and the dispenser from his backpack dropped down and he moved the Walther to it and reloaded it as he brought the pistol forward he let the slider reload the weapon as the dispenser retreated back up inside the pack.

Just like Paul, Alex had changed to her side arms and thanks to her extended clips it took her longer to empty the ones loaded with the pistols. He glanced over and as if things were moving in slow motion he watched as both her pistols fired their last round and they remained open signifying that they were empty. Alex pressed release buttons on the sides of the pistols and the clips dropped out, then in one swift motion as she kicked a holographic Breen back with a force backed by adrenalin she pointed the heels of the pistols in the direction of where the dispensers would drop down. As if on cue the moment the weapons came in range of the sensors the dispensers dropped down and still in slow motion she expertly inserted the new clips and as she brought the weapons forward again the dispensers retracted and she released the bolts allowing the semi-automatic motion to re-cock her pistols and the very Breen she kicked away charged again as she fired a newly loaded round into his head, blowing the back of his helmet outward, the Breen was dead before he hit the ground.

The Next song began it was the instrumental version of the Mortal Kombat film theme, this was mixed together with Mission Impossible theme, on a brief quiet moment, Sharpe thought it a strange mix of songs.

Then things seemed to go to normal speed as Sharpe had to duck to avoid a Jem'Hadar bladed weapon, he promptly shot his assailant and moved onto the next. This went on for as long as their pistols had clips to use, before too long Sharpe had holstered his pistol and had pulled out his combat knife in his other hand and was fighting with melee weapons. Alex was moments behind him her right pistol remained open, signalling that it was empty, so she released the locking mechanism to bring the bolt forward and then she holstered the weapon and in one smooth motion she pulled out one of her Wakizashi and began swinging at her left-hand pistol finally fired its last round and doing the same with that hand she pulled out her other Wakizashi blade and went into full melee mode.

As the duo fought melee style, Somers seemed to have gone into the "Zone" on a glance over she looked at peace as she slashed, stabbed, parried and kicked at the enemy, there were tougher opponents than others "Computer level?" Somers asked out of breath a little.

"Level 30" the computer responded, both Alex and Paul shared a look as good as to say 'When did we get to level thirty?' in hindsight it seemed to tally with the level of difficulty they were now facing and the holodeck safeties had been lowered enough as damage could be caused but not death, it was part of the program.

Each level took longer and longer to complete so for the continuing minutes the pair were fighting for their health as all flesh and blood type opponents gave way to Borg, these holographic drones did not make charging cries, they just steadily walked towards the duo. "This is Level thirty-one," Alex said.

"Well at least I now know why you failed the level 31, you had these guys to face" Sharpe said and Alex could only nod as she began slashing at the drones as did Sharpe, ironically the song that began playing was the song from Starship Troopers: Marauder film "It's a good day to die"

Both fought on valiantly and there were many dead hostiles a fraction of them drones, but the bodies were piling up, then both found themselves on the floor looking up at frozen Borg with their assimilation tubes extended as the main chorus of the song was playing.

"Participants are classed as deceased, program halted" the computer announced.

As the dead and frozen hostiles began to vanish "Computer, did we get past level thirty-one?" Somers asked.

"Negative" the computer replied, Somers, looked over at a grinning Sharpe "WHAT!!?" she asked angrily.

Still smiling "perhaps you could remove the Borg entirely and find another enemy if there is not one, you could make one up," he said and watched her anger give way to an idea. Picking himself up off the floor he went over to her and helped her up.

All that remained of the simulation was the ground and environment, both dusted themselves off, and looked around "Well Alex, you still know how to program a tough simulation" Sharpe said and Alex simply looked at him.

"Computer save data and end program," she said and the environment ended, as their weapons and kit were holographic-based, they too vanished, as the pair walked to the door "after you are cleaned up and smelling fresher, come you by my quarters," Sharpe said with a look in his eyes.

Alex looked at him and smiled "you got it sailor" she said and winked at him as both held hands as they left the holodeck eventually they broke apart as both had their own quarters to go to.
