A Day in the Life
Timeline: Before Weathering the Storm
Fitting, Gabriel thought, that he would be on the Brisbane once more, heading to Starbase Three-Three-Two. His first posting. His first posting! He couldn't believe it, even as he reviewed the PADD in his hand displaying the station and all it's specifications. Gabriel took a sip from the root-beer in his other hand and glanced out the window to view the stars passing at warp speed.
"Hey Gabe," Captain Vanern's voice brought Gabriel's attention from the stars, "mind if i join you?" With approval, he sat across from Gabriel. "Starbase, Three-Three-Two, eh? Not a bad posting, especially for a first one. Although I have heard that they're preparing for an Ion storm, one way to get your feet wet, or soaked as may be the case." Vanern took a sip from his own cup of coffee and glanced out the window. "I'm glad I got to see you again after the training cruise, you where a fine operations officer, I hope Johanna is proud."
Gabriel took another drink as Vanern spoke to him, "Ya, mom's definitely proud, couldn't stop smiling at graduation."
"That's good to hear, when i was going through the cadet roster for the cruise and saw 'Lirsek,' I was certainly surprised, Johanna is a good officer, and I'm sure that you will be too." Another sip.
"Thank you, sir. do you know much about Three-Three-Two? Specs only say so much." He half-lifted the PADD for emphasis.
Vanern looked upward in contemplation, "Well Archa IV is definitely a must for shoreleave, kinda like Risa, but natural."
The intercom chimed, stopping him from continuing, "Captain Vanern, We will be arriving within the hour."
"Of course," Vanern rose to leave, "I'll let you return to your drink, we can speak again later." Vanern headed to the exit of the lounge and off to the bridge.
Gabriel let out a breath he had been holding, It's always awkward when your parent's friend tries to speak with you. With that discomforting situation out of the way, he went back to his reading. He changed the PADD to display schematics for a 22nd century phase pistol replica he planned on building. Back to what he had planned on doing the rest of the trip.
