A Day in the Life

Soft music played softly in the dim room as Samanthia finished up with her accounts with Warp-12 and the Dive. She stood up as she shut off the computer she was using. The room darkened even more, yet there was enough light to see obstacles in her path. She stretched, easing the muscles from sitting way too long from School, then her business and flight time to and from Archia IV. She looked around the apartment, smiling softly as once again the feeling of contentment filled her. She had a family again. Husband and daughter. She was going to school once again and running her businesses while knowing her daughter was being attended to.
She moved quietly on bare feet through the big common room towards the second bedroom where their daughter slept. She peeked in through the open door, letting the dim light highlight the form of their daughter sleeping peacefully in a tangle of blankets and a favored stuff animal hugged loosely in her grasp. Smiling as she quietly slipped to the bed and gently untangled the blankets and smoothing them out over her daughter. She could hear the soft purr coming from her daughter as she leaned close to place a soft kiss on her cheek. "Sleep with pleasant dreams little one of mine." She murmured as she pulled away to a soft, sleep filled "mmmmeerrrrr."
She straightened up and slipped just as quietly as she entered from their daughters bedroom. Her smile grew a bit as her thoughts turned from their daughter to her husband. As Caitians would say, "her mate'. She closed the door till there was still a slight crack in the still opened door. Now it was their time.
S'er'in'e had just been appointed the Chief of Strategic Operations for the entire sector, a posting that would see him spend more time in Operations than his office down on the flight deck. While he still had lingering doubts as to if he'd enjoy the role viewing it taking him away from what he enjoyed, Von asked, he accepted. He walked through the doors quietly with one arm seeming to carry almost 15 padds all lined up in his bent arm against his chest. There was much to read, catch up on and learn for his new role. Everything was going well until he walked through the door and just as it closed one of the padds slipped from his arm onto the floor.
It was obvious as to why there was silence in the room, he could only hope he didn't wake his Daughter. "My apologies." He whispered and in doing so his tone filled with feline tone and inflection.
Samanthia smiled as she approached him, seeing the armful of padds and one on the floor. She used the side of her foot and kicked it, sliding it into his corner of the common room, where it came to rest in easy grabbing distance from his chair. She took half of them as she spoke, "No worries. Mariah whont be disturbed." Carrying them over to his inhouse desk and dropped them helter-skelter onto his desk. "Enough time for that later," Knowing he'll follow, she turned facing him, grabbing the rest of the padds to add to the pile, getting them all mixed up in a jumble.
She gently pushed him into his big easy comfortable chair, giving him time to adjust for his tail. "We've rarely seen each other during the day and wake at different hours or go to bed at different times. Knowing that we lead busy lives, lets the other get the rest they need, which is greatly appreciated." She nodded to him in that feminine knowing way that brook no argument for it was the truth. "The station ain't going to fall into chaos if you fail to read those till tomorrow." She settled upon his lap and began to undue his tunic, "It is our time." Burrowing up against him once his tunic was loose.
The chair was comfortable since it was essentially made for him and she was right however, they could wait. He felt his muscles ease, his shoulders drop, for the first time today he let himself relax to feel just how tired he really was. Like a façade, a face that he'd put on all day and now behind the doors of home he could relax and take it off. The scent of his Mate was welcome, the closeness, the touch worked to sooth. He didn't like the changes, the different hours, the missing the family time, the sacrifices he was making. Samanthia he knew was understanding, she too had duties that took her away but there were times when family called to him more than duty. He placed his head on her shoulder and tension, stress radiated from him. "I am sorry to be so busy."
Samanthia gently yet firmly began to massage him. working the uniform tunic off of him. Enjoying his closeness and weight of his head on her shoulder. "No worries and forgiven," Whispered into his furry ear that was closest to her mouth. She worked her hands up, pulling away a bit to remove and toss his tunic to the floor. Her soft Caitian gown opened down the front, to enjoy his furry body against her smooth skin. She resumed her massaging, working deeply into his tense muscles. "Tomorrow at 1100 hours, we, including Mariah, need to get our yearly physicals out of the way." Snuggling into his warmth as she feels his tenseness fade away as she continues to gently massage and brushes his exposed fur with her fingers.
She heard his rumbling purr soften and deepen. She smiled, realizing he had fell asleep. She was wrapped up in his arms and tail curved gently around her calf. He was comfortable and she was too. She snuggled deeper against him and slowly drifted off, knowing her weight was a comfortable presence on his lap and up against him.
Both missed the thud coming from Mariah's room and the exclamations from impact. Soon Mariah, with her newfound freedom, realized the hurt faded quieted down and began to explore the dark, yet familiar surroundings. She discovered the door slightly open to the rooms beyond which was brighter than her own. She crawled towards the doorway, pausing as the door slid open all the way, reviling Momma snuggled up with someone unfamiliar, yet familiar, on Daddy's big seat. She smiled and exclaimed "Momma?"
Her eyes widened when her Momma didn't move in response to call. The big Feline ears twitched and his nostrils widened in taking in the new scent. She paused watching Momma and the big Feline that looked like the one in the picture with her Mother. Momma wasn't fighting, nor making any sounds. She crept slowly forward till taking in S'er'in'e's scent. It was remembered as it was occasionally on Momma when she came in the morning to take care of her.
"Da?" Mariah spoke in babyish Caitian. Seeing no response except the subtle movements of being asleep and the instinctive ears opening swiveling towards her to assess the threat level of her. Since Momma was in his lap and no scent of injuries coming from either of them. "Mamma?" She inquired next, getting no response as Samanthia's ears were some what buried.
Mariah eyes narrowed with determination, she extended her little claws, dug in with them and began to pull herself up. Knowing her claws wasn't doing any harm to S'er'in'e furry hide, she definitely avoided Momma's smooth furless skin as she climbed up onto his lap. His scent was very familiar as Daddy and seeing her Momma looking content as she slept in his embrace. She knew he was Safe, Friend, Protector of Momma and now her also. She snuggled in close to Momma and in the crook of S'er'in'e's other arm. She listened to the deep comforting rumble of the masculine purr of contentment.
Samanthia woke at her usual time, began her stretch to get the blood flowing, to realize that she had fallen asleep in S'er'in'e's lap. Then registered they wasn't alone. She looked at Mariah sound asleep in in her lap, tucked back against his other arm and his pawlike hand placed protectively on Mariah's abdomen. A soft warm smile appeared at seeing the protectiveness of S'er'in'e towards his daughter. She reached out carefully and did a quick check for cleanliness of Mariah.
She looked up at S'er'in'e, seeing him looking down at Mariah. His predatory eyes round and soft with warmth, contentment. His rumbling purr soft as if he was singing her a lullaby which only those of feline blood could understand. She saw his eyes focus on her as she stirred to a new position, taking more of Mariah's weight in her arms and resting her against her breast. She leaned close to S'er'in'e, muzzled her cheek against his. "My family!" She exclaimed softly in a whisper.
