You and your words flooded my senses. Your sentences left me defenseless. You built me palaces out of paragraphs, You built cathedrals.
I’m re-reading the letters you wrote me. I’m searching and scanning for answers. In every line. For some kind of sign. And when you were mine, The world seemed to Burn.

The music played in Felicies quarters while the red headed security officer sang to the music, nursing the strong drink she held in her hand. She sat sideways on the couch, leaning back against the arm rest as she stared at the stars, another sip, while the music continued to play she leaned toward the coffee table, grabbing the bottle and topping up her glass.

I'm erasing myself from the narrative. Let future historians wonder, How I reacted, When you broke my heart. You have torn it all apart. I'm watching it burn.

She raised the glass to her lips again, sipping slowly as she savoured the strong flavour of the amber coloured liquid as it caressed her tastebuds, closing her eyes momentarily as she listened to the lyrics. Tonight especially, they spoke to her.

You forfeit all rights to my heart. You forfeit the place in my bed. You'll sleep in your office instead. With only the memories, of when you were mine. I hope that you burn.

As she exhaled slowly, eyes closed, taking another sip, the memories all seemed to blur in her mind. It was only as the song came to a close that she opened her eyes again, turning her gaze back to the stars. "Computer, what's the time?" she asked.
"The time is twenty hundred hours."
Finishing the drink, Felicie stood up, topping it off again before heading toward the bedroom, glass in hand. If she was going to meet the others on the promenade at twenty one hundred she would need to start getting ready. While it wasn't exactly a hot date, it was still dinner, drinks and dancing, and it was something she was definitely looking forward to.
She looked at the dress laid out on her bed and the heels on the floor, smiling before heading into the bathroom and setting her glass on the counter top before she turned on the shower and waited for the water to start warming.
A smiled played on her lips as the music changed and she started singing along with the words she knew by heart.

But I don't want it, No, I can't want it anymore. Something has changed within me, Something is not the same. I'm through with playing by the rules, Of someone else's game. Too late for second-guessing. Too late to go back to sleep. It's time to trust my instincts, Close my eyes and leap! It's time to try defying gravity. I think I'll try defying gravity, And you can't pull me down.

She stepped under the warm water and let it run over her body for a moment before she rejoined the song again.

I'm through accepting limits, 'Cause someone says they're so. Some things I cannot change, But 'til I try, I'll never know! Too long I've been afraid of Losing love I guess I've lost. Well, if that's love, It comes at much too high a cost! I'd sooner buy defying gravity. Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity And you can't pull me down!

She had just stepped out of the shower and reached for a towel when the computer chirped to remind her of the 'appointment' scheduled on her calender. Felicie smiled and moved back into the bedroom, wrapping her hair in the towel before she started to get dressed.
Yes, her music was definitely setting a mood, and it was making her happy. Resolute and determined, but more than that, just happy. She slipped her feet into her heels and unwound the towel just as the second reminder sounded.
Tonight Felicie was going to start embracing life again.
