Belated Reporting In

Posted on Sun Jan 6th, 2013 @ 1:41pm by Lieutenant Commander Miranda Keller MD, MBBS & Captain Liarra Von & Captain Alexander Gunning

Mission: Reindeer Games
Location: Deck 28

Miranda was walking along Deck 28, looking for her new quarters. Although she'd been on a starbase of this size before, she always found navigating her way around was an adventure in itself. As she walked along, checking the door numbers as she went, Miranda ran in to another officer walking in the opposite direction, causing her to stumble. Steadying herself against the bulkhead, Miranda quickly turned around to see if the other person was ok, "I'm so sorry, I should have been watch where I was going"

The other officer had turned just as quickly to check on her. "I was just about the say the same myself." The other officer dusted himself off. "Don't worry about it, things happen." Gunning checked her rank. On a station this size, it was easy not to know everyone, but Alex had prided himself in keeping up with most of his officers. He extended his hand to her. "I'm not sure we've met. Captain Gunning."

"Oh my god, sir I'm so sorry i didn't mean to bump into you" Miranda said, a little flustered by finding out that the person she had ran into was her new CO. Great, not the best way to start a new career Mirri she thought to herself as she brushed down her uniform, trying to look her best. "And no sir, we haven't met yet, I'm Lieutenant Keller, the stations new chief Surgeon" she said, taking the offered hand.

Gunning chuckled as he shook her hand. "Don't worry about it. Neither of us look hurt. Accidents happen. And it's nice to meet you, Doctor. Welcome aboard. I know we have a lot of medical centers on the station, but the primary surgical center is off the main sickbay. I'm sure Doctor Daniels can give you a much better tour than I could."

Miranda nodded, "she did, the Doctor was a great help. She showed me around sickbay and helped me get settled in"

"That's great. I'm sure you noticed that our facilities here are much larger than your standard starship. We have a lot of people passing through this station on a daily basis, and a lot of them need medical attention. I'm sure Dr. Daniels will be keeping you busy."

Miranda smiled, "I have no doubt about that. I've been told that we're treating a ships crew that have been infected with some sort of pollen that we're having trouble treating"

Gunning laughed. "That's right. I know infections are serious business, but I can't help but be a little amused. You should see the incident report. I heard they had to scrub down half the ship."

"Well, I'm willing to do whatever I can to help out. As a surgeon, pollen isn't really my field but I was the CMO on my last posting so I'm not completely useless."

"That's right. I knew I recognized your name. You were on the Vesta, weren't you? That was a shame the way that worked out. She was quite a ship."

Miranda nodded, "From what i was told, she was the most up to date ship active, Sickbay was state of the art, half the medical equipment I was using were portotypes of the next generation of tools. I had to replicate most of the standard equipment to use while I got used to the new stuff"

"Well, hopefully they fix that issue with the engine and get her back into service. You really saved our hides at Thane. We have access to quite a bit of new equipment out here, just not as early as the new prototypes. Still, you'll find that this station is pretty well stocked, even if Doctor Daniels doesn't use all of it."

"That's alright, the surgical bay hasn't changed that much over the last twenty years"

"Well, I'll leave you to get settled in. I'm sure you have some things to take care of." Gunning shook Keller's hand again. "It was nice meeting you, Doctor. I'm sure you'll like it here."

Miranda smiled, "I'm sure I'll fit in here just fine"
