Assessing the Situation

Posted on Wed Nov 20th, 2013 @ 9:31pm by Captain Liarra Von & Major Alexandria Somers & Lieutenant Commander Le Austin

Mission: Picking Up the Pieces
Location: Starbase 332 - Ops

[ON]

Naomi and Le Austin both well armed with standard Phaser weapons set on heavy stun beamed to the location where the rest of the team had beamed into.

"Ensign Report" She said.

A rather shaken operations officer was running around ops. A number of exploded plasma conduits surrounded the room, circuit panels and cables exposed and dropping from the ceiling. The lighting flickered, making it difficult to get around the room. "We're not quite sure, Captain. Primary sensors are offline, long range communications are offline. Two of the primary spacedock doors are inoperable. We have short range emergency Comms, but we haven't been able to learn much beyond an explosion of some sort. We didn't even know that you were back."

"Okay" She said and looked at Le Austin "You know this station better than me, what do you suggest?" She asked.

Austin was already moving into place, pulling up screens on the console in spite of it's broken screen. He worked silently for a moment, only stopping once to suck blood from his finger when he cut it on a raised piece of the cracked screen, "I'm trying to check system logs.... there should be a few micro second delay as each system failed, with the oldest time being closest to the origination of a blast..." He said. He tossed a schematic of the station up on screen and a green to red gradient began materializing, finally culminating at a single location, "There," He said, pointing at the bright red dot blinking in the center of the holo. "That's where the blast came from." He explained, not bothering to take note of where it actually was as he moved back to his next task.

"Reroute power from secondary systems and bypass junction Nine-One-Alpha-Seven... junt over to Two-One-Alpha-Nine and see if you can't restore power to the internal comm systems," He said, snatching the Ensign by the arm and pulling her closer and showing her what he wanted her to do. "Then reroute the primary power from sections C2 through C14 and shunt them through these sections so we can at least get emergency power back on line there, okay?" He said, making sure she understood and giving her the most comforting look he could muster.

The ensign nervously nodded and went to follow the orders. As a young operations officer, she rarely found herself placed in a command situation, and she was thankful to have superior officers back in charge. She moved to a working console and followed Le's lead. "Aye sir, I'm rerouting to junction Two-One-Alpha-Nine."

Austin gave the young Ensign's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, then turned his attention back to Naomi, "What's the plan, Captain?" He asked, checking the charge of his Phaser and making sure the stun was as high as possible without breaching into the world of deadly.

"Shoot first ask questions later, we need to get things done quickly as possible, also see if we can find out what actually happened here, and they do not have to be in that order" Naomi responded.

"We need to get some order restored," Austin replied. "I need to get a team down to the blast area to see how bad the damage is. That's near some pretty critical systems," Austin explained. "Can't really do that until--" Suddenly the ops area was washed in panicked distress calls and pleas for help. Austin grinned slightly, "Until internal Comms are back up. Good job, Ensign."

The ensign looked sheepishly at the engineer. "Thank you, sir."

"Computer, mute all channels but this one. Command override Le-Tango-Niner-Alpha," He said to the air. The computer chimed it's usual tonal affirmative, sending the room back into silence.

"All hands, this is Lieutenant Le Austin, I need a sitrep from all departments ASAP," He said, calmly, falling easily into the take charge mode he'd learned so well over the years, "Starting with Medical, how bad are we hit?"

A voice from the medical department came through the comm. "Lieutenant, this is Dr. Kolar, we've been bringing in wounded and setting up triage, but we don't know the extent of the situation. All I know is that gurneys have been rolling in non-stop for an hour. We'll need some time before we can provide a casualty report. For now, we're trying to concentrate on treatment."

"Understood, keep at it. Security, Tactical... how well are we locked down? Do we know who did this?" He called over the general channel.

"What transporters and airlocks are still operational are fully locked down," said the voice over the comm.

The ensign operations officer that had been assisting Lt. Le added "Docking control has locked down all ships, sir. No one has been able to leave since the explosion."

The voice on the comm continued. "That's correct. No ships have docked or disembarked since the explosion. However, that doesn't eliminate a time bomb or some sort of remote detonation. Whoever set the explosives may have left before."

"True. It also doesn't eliminate the possibility that we could have more bombs planted. I'm assuming you guys are doing eyes-on sweeps to see?" Austin asked. "Are our sensors operational enough to scan for any unknown devices or materials?"

Naomi was on the Command level with Le Austin manning the tactical station and sensors trying to find out what actually happened, but leaving it up to Le Austin to lead the way, she was a Marine not a Fleet Officer.

"I can find nothing on the normal or Tactical sensors Lieutenant, what to suggest?" She asked.

Austin shook his head and thought for a moment, "Nothing to it but to get down there, eyes on, and figure out what happened and if it's going to happen again," He explained. "Engineering, I need a team to meet me at juncture..." He paused to look over the map of the explosion again. "Juncture T-198. We'll spread out from there and make a sweep of the damaged decks. EVA suit up, and bring me one too. I don't want any of us getting a surprise lung full of vacuum," He said into the comm.

After an affirmative from his department, he looked back over to Naomi, "Can you get some of your guys mobilized? Have them work in conjunction with Security. Start searching ships, cargo, everything. If you find anything suspicious, let me know."

"Sure can" Griffiths said and tapped her Commbadge =/\= Griffiths to Marine Alpha Team, meet me in Security, we got some huntin' to do=/\= She said.

=/\= Yes Sir meet you there =/\= Came a male voice.

Austin gave her a final nod and whispered a quick run of encouraging words to the Ensign before disappearing down a Jefferies tube to rendezvous with his team. He hadn't been in a hot situation like this since Bajor, but he was glad to see his mind still went into crisis mode effortlessly. Somethings you never forget, no matter how much you want to.

-Security Office-

As Naomi entered the Security Office she saw her Marine Team there along with security, going in she cleared her throat "okay Ensign Johannsen will lead the Security teams and do searches of the ships before they depart, you will split up into pairs one Fleet and Marine per team, understood Ensign?" She asked the Security Officer.

"Yes Ma'am" He responded.

Griffiths nodded and looked at her eleven marines "We will also pair up and search the Cargo bays" She said looking all around the room, "remember people keep in contact at all times, when complete meet back here and we can make reports, any questions?"

No one had any, so clapping her hands "okay let go people" She said as the Security and Marines split into mixed pairs.
