Mission: Vagrants, Vagabonds, and Thieves
Location: Docking Port 312

Melissa had wondered when she'd see this base again. After a month of teaching a seminar at Starfleet Academy, she wondered if she would even get back. She began walking through the corridors and even the lower promenade, with her duffel, for about an hour, and she finally let out a sigh. "It just dose not seem to be the same." She spoke to herself. She half-expected to see Nilani or Alex here. But now, it was all just new faces, and old wounds of a chunk of a base disappearing out of it.

Even she had changed. Her one time long hair was shorter now, and she now wore the skirt option with medical overcoat on her uniform. She began walking toward the Warp 12. She did not know where Samanthia went during the attack, and the bar was a mess after the bombing. The last time she was in it, she was using it as a makeshift triage area in all the chaos.

She walked near the Warp 12 and it was still closed, and still with damage from the attack a month ago. The Door was ajar and she walked in. She then sighed at the state of it. "Lower section looters. Would have expected they would have sacked the bar in all that confusion." She moved to the bar.

Samanthia looked over her shoulder at the sound of the female voice. Holding the electronic notepad, she was using to get the updated inventory. Eyes blazed with fury as a lot of holo-projectors been damaged, majority of her stock had been looted. Especially the hard to get semi-illegal drinks she served there. "You shouldn't be in here. There is still a lot of debris laying around." Turning to point to the marked path through the debris. "The upper level of the Restaurant is open for business, Miss..."

She studied the woman, unsure of what she wanted. Hiding the frustration of being interrupted as she took note she still had her duffel. Another Fleeter, and to make it worse, Medical. Hoping she wasn't an Health Inspector to cause more trouble.

Melissa was somewhat surprised. "And I'm still single Samanthia. By the way, are those inhibitors working for your Thormariez Spice allergy?" She stated hoping Samanthia would recognize her voice.

Samanthia looked closely at the Medical Officer. Light of recognition filled her eyes as a smile warmed her expression. "Melissa!" Voice filled with warmth. "Have you gotten quarters yet?" Placing the electronic notepad onto the counter, "have a seat if you can find one. Holo-projectors are on the fritz." Looking at the depleted stock behind her. "I'd offer ya a drink, but a lot of the better drinks have taken a walk."

"Yeah, I know. The damn sojourners have done a number on this base." Melissa noted. "Lower section scrappers and salvagers." She noted. "I looked everywhere for you after the attack Samanthia."

"I'd left the station for an Archeological Dig in the Savoy Sector near Trill. Iconian Ruins. For once we got there before the Tombraiders." Ordering drinks from the restaurant to be brought down.

"And they took my favorite chair." Melissa moved toward the usual chair she sat in after a long day at medical. "I have an idea Samanthia. I have, set aside, quite a bit of latinum from... well.... lets not go into where it came from." She noted. "I've wanted to open a restaurant for some time sine I first arrived here, but it's quite hard to do so when you're a doctor, always someone who needs my full attention. But I think that Latinum might be useful in getting the Warp 12 open again." She concluded. "It won't be the same if I cannot come in here to wind down." She smiled warmly.

Samanthia smiled warmly. "I'd greatly appreciate it. At least it will help in replacing the lost drinks that are more popular with the personnel here." Moving from behind the table she was using as the bar counter, and placing full bottles of liquors she found untouched and not taken by the looters. "At least it whont take long with the repairs to the holo-projectors. At least I don't have to worry much about replacing furniture." Accepting the tray from the waitress from upstairs restaurant, as she noticed Melissa's duffel. "You have a place all your own or not?"

"I've been offered the Transient Officer quarters until accommodations are arranged. According to what the base quartermaster told me." Melissa noted

"If not. I can share my apartment on Akiashiro Deck. But then it ain't in the umbrella portion of the station, where all the action takes place. Down on the stem of the station." Samanthia smiled warmly. At least she could offer her a place till she could get settled in the fleet section.

"Thank you Samanthia." Melissa noted. "Besides, reopening the Warp 12 might convince the other merchants and shop owners on the promenade not to run from the Sojourners. I know how you feel about Starfleet at times Samanthia. I've had to restrain the urge to dig Kris Valtan out of her grave, hunt every one of the Sojourner leaders down, and make them beg for their gods." Melissa mentioned. "But I am not her anymore, and they should be grateful."

Samanthia shrugs, as their drinks arrive and set on the table before them. "Elder Akiashiro's, would say that if Starfleet would uphold their bargain and reduce the presence of Fleet personnel and just have a small presence here. None of this would have happened. Let the Merchant Consortium be and they would have this sector of space united. Bring in one military presence, another will show up to flex their muscle and this happens." Waves an arm around, to take in the damage. "As for me ... I'd join ya..." voice goes soft. "... but my reason is already gone." Watches several Akiashiro suited engineers, and laborers enter the place and begin to work on the Holoprojectors, finishing touches to the walls and cleaning up the debris.

Melissa spoke, "Nothing would please me more than a Diplomatic Solution, Samanthia. At least I wouldn't have to use your bar as an overflow again." She noted. "Most of the people I knew here amongst the civilians died in the bombing. New faces, and the ones I do recognize are ready to move on." She sighed. "I wanted this base to be my 'small town.' However that may not be possible."

"It can be. Just give it time. Melissa." Samanthia spoke with a shrug and a small smile. "Soon this place will be pacified, if fleet decides to let the Merchant Consortium free run of the sector. If they don't.... This place will be another "Battle of the Bulge". Took a sip of her drink.

They talked about many things, late into the "night" and soon Melissa left with her Duffel to her temp quarters. Samanthia looked around and soon locked up the place for the night, thinking about finding staffing. But then she could always use holo-projection staff.
