Blending In

Mission: Fate of the Angels
Location: Engineering Anteroom - USS Seraphim

The group managed to reach an ante-room by the time their surroundings had turned from derelict to the vibrant primary colours of a mid-23rd Century Federation starship. Gunning stared at the door control, looking for a way to lock it behind them. "Looks like we'll just have to hope no-one follows us in here."

Deakin looked around the room while his mind buzzed with what he'd just seen. The ante-room seemed to be used mostly for storage. There were some equipment lockers, storage drawers and a few small cargo containers stacked at the far end of the room. He looked at the others in turn and shook his head. "What the hell?"

Gunning stopped to take it in for a moment. Suddenly, where there had once been the desolate remains of a Starship, there was a living, breathing community with people going about their business and- most worrying of all- the low hum of engines coming from the compartment they had just left.

"Did anyone detect anything before they all became corporeal?" The Commander asked, trying to regain some semblance of control.

"Just a glimpse of their uniforms," Price answered, catching her breath. "They certainly looked like they matched the era the ship is from." She opened her tricorder again. "I'm still detecting an excess of chronitons." She started scanning around the room, and then to each of the members of the away team. "Now this is interesting. I'm not picking them up from the ship, I'm getting them from us."

Gunning stopped rifling through an equipment locker to shoot the Ensign a confused glance. "From us? Are you saying that we've undergone some kind of time shift?"

"Either that, or the ship has undergone some kind of time shift around us," Price replied. "I'm an engineer, not a scientist. That's just my best guess based on the data."

Deakin confirmed the readings with his own tricorder. "It's us, not the ship," he said, now directing his device to conduct a general scan of where they were and what was nearby. "It must have happened when the black box activated," he mused. "I detected chronitons on it when I scanned it. Activating the power source - I still don't know how that happened, by the way - must have triggered a temporal shift. Obviously back to when the Seraphim was still in service."

"Well you know what that means, don't you?" Gunning asked, sticking his head into an equipment locker.

It didn't take long for Allie to realize what that meant. She knew enough about history to know what the women's uniform looked like back then. Seeing Gunning turn around confirmed her suspicions.

The Commander turned back to the group with a bundle of period uniforms. "We'd better get changed."
