Samanthia's Apartment

Samanthia felt horrible and hung over, as she cleaned up from her WTF drunken rampage. She was sore from being on a couch that wasn't designed sleep on, full of kinks and a pounding headache. She carried the sticky bottle to the sink to get cleaned up from the spilt alcoholic drink.

After washing the 1/4 full bottle of liquor, she put it on the shelf with the others. She growled softly as she moved to the bedroom, removing the stinky undergarment and entering the refresher to get cleaned up. She used up her allotted amount of water rations for the week in a relaxing soothing shower. Feeling whole lot better and clean once again, She got dressed in the other nice outfit; A white miniskirt with a nice V neck that showed a bit of cleavage.

She primped a bit to look her best and hide the fact she cut loose and gotten smashed. She thought on where to go, other than Warp-12 as it was still getting the final touches from damage caused to by the attack. The Dive was usually a good place to go.

She sighed softly at seeing her eyes. They was a bit bloodshot from the binge of crying and booze. Looking around, she spotted an old pair of tinted sunglasses that would semi-hide her eyes, unless one looked to close. She breezed out of the apartment and headed on down to The Dive.

Sivity's Quarters

Sivity had worked late the previous night and so found herself with a full day away from work and all of its attendant duties. She was yet to be convinced that the Star Base was a preferable assignment than a star ship, but it did at least offer her the chance to align her many stones and wards. The stone that Samanthia had guided her to seemed to be particularly effective. She felt lucky. But what to do with herself and that luck? After a few moments of deliberation, she decided that some gambling would provide both some excitement and a test of her new luck stone. She felt it important that she understood its limitations.

She dressed to complement the power of the stone, with appropriate charms, counterbalancing stones and tokens. The clothing selected was equally outlandish. Her tiny white skirt wasn't much broader than a belt. Her top was also white; a cropped vest top that displayed a very toned midriff. Thick metal bracelets engraved with strange symbols covered half of each forearm. They were a very useful defence against knife attacks. As an Andoran, she always anticipated a fight. So she also wore a double looped thin belt that could act as a lash in extremis. Lastly she donned a pair of tall, white boots. The rear lacing thigh boots had perilously tall spike heels. Sivity loved them. The extra inches were, she felt, a necessary asset. They also served to ensure that prospective enemies significantly underestimated her.

She chose her perfume for the colour as much as the scent. She felt comfortable in white. It held pleasant connotations of home. Also it wouldn't clutter the energies coming from her stone. She set off purposefully, if not quickly: her heels precluded any great speed, in the direction of The Dive. She knew she'd find some excitement there.

Turbo Lift

Samantha stood glaring at the turbo lift, waiting for it to show up. When it finally did with the light lighting up above it and the door whooshing open. The last person she would've thought to be on it was Sivity. She stepped forward onto the lift, nodding her 'hello' and acknowledging her presence. "Deck 2301." She moved to the side as the doors whooshed shut behind her and then the momentary weightless hit her making wobble slightly and grab a bit panicky for the railing to keep her balance on her high heels, but not as high as Sivity's. "Damn..." softly almost inaudible.

Samanthia glanced at Sivity, turning a bit pink from her remark that escaped her. "Making your rounds in disguise?"

"Hi Samanthia," Sivity replied with a gentle smile. She felt unthreatened by the woman and being off duty also helped her disposition. It also helped that she'd also left the comm badge in her apartment. If they wanted to find her, they'd have to use the base's computer. Still, it felt strange to be without her phaser. "Would you believe that I actually get a day off - occasionally. I'm going to practice my gambling skills and so I thought I'd dress accordingly." She explained. Her long silvery white hair was swept back and loose save for two thin braids. Each emanated from near her temples and joined at the back of her head.

Samanthia gave her a smile, "I'm having a day off also and go have some fun." By the way she was dressed, it wasn't for gambling. Her dark hair hung loose and a bit damp from a recent shower. Her breath is a bit more minty than usual. "Heading to The Dive?"

"Indeed I am." She confirmed quietly. "It was exciting last time. I'm hoping it will be again. I found a very good stone and am looking to ascertain just how good it is." She explained rather cryptically.

The lift settled and discharged them at their chosen level. As soon as the doors opened, both women drew a great deal of attention.

The Dive

"Hey,hey-Gorgeous! How much you chargin'?" A burly man in overalls shouted. Sivity's head flicked around. She smiled cruelly and simply ignored him. "I think he was talking to you." She said to Samanthia.

Samanthia laughed softly, "Hey George, your wife knows you are here?" Watching the big burly man dunk back down with his buds laughing at him. She unconsciously added a little more sway to her hips as she walked, as another Off Duty Security Guy, just as big as the first, Gave a soft appreciative wolf whistle at the pair of them.

"Wooooo Snow and Ice! Let us thaw ya both out!" He called out as his buddies nodded with appreciative looks and comments. Some were pretty lewd but done in an appreciative manner of being a bit over intoxicated. "We have room here!" Shoving the few who were passed out onto the floor with a thud.

Samanthia looked at Sivity, with a shrug, "why not." Moves over to join them. She was out to have fun, waving away the manager of the bar in her employment for the establishment. "I'm sure they could be persuaded in getting a game going."

As they entered Sivity felt, as much as heard, the pulsing, thumping bass of modern dance song. It wasn't so loud as to impede conversation; it was rather that the bass was tremendously deep and rumbled through the floor. Such strong basic rhythms transcended cultures; at least, she liked to think so. She also liked to think that she was receptive to most types of music and certainly the premises' current choice was far from inimical to her. It was however, somewhat warmer than she preferred, but that was not an uncommon occurrence. It only served to vindicate her choice of such minimal attire.

Whilst she took in her surroundings, she herself was greatly scrutinised. Being Andoran was enough to ensure that was a regular occurrence. Being a scantily clad, alluring, young, female Andoran practically compelled it.

"Let us simply relax and see what unfolds." Replied Sivity with supreme calm.

Samanthia stopped and looked at Sivity, "Thought you wanted jump right in?" Samanthia moved to a table that just been vacated, signaling for drink. Giving the guys a brief look of apology as she settled at the table with her sunglasses still on. But then she was treading a bit out of her depth as she had them safe dates that developes into friendship then into relationship. She let herself go with the flow, letting Sivity lead this outing.

"We've already jumped. Now we relax and enjoy it." Sivity answered cryptically.

The two slumped men were dragged unceremoniously outside. Barely had their heels departed the threshold when two large men joined them at their table. Both smiled amiably. Both were human and easily topped six feet in height. Both seemed hardened and not wanting for muscle.

"I'm Manning." The first spoke genially. He had a full dark beard and close cropped hair. there were a series of three small scars along the left side of his head where no hair grew. "And this is "Tree" He introduced his friend. Tree was undeniably the broader of the two. He was clean shaven and of fairer complexion with shoulder length blonde hair. "Mind if we join you ladies? We just got in last night. Had a profitable run and we're feeling good. So what brings such heavenly creatures all the way down here?" He enquired with a broad, confident smile.

"I'm feeling lucky." Sivity replied simply.

"Have a good time," Samanthia smiled a bit shyly with appreciation at the two men. She leaned a bit forward to let the men have a better look at her physique as she took a drink, waving them to take the remaining two seats at the table. "Whot's your names?" She asked softly, but loud enough to be heard. Feeling the rush of the booze already.

The solidly muscled blonde man laughed and spoke for the first time. His deep basso tones were almost lost in the music: "Like he said, he's Manning and everyone just calls me Tree. And I'm certain that YOU just got lucky and YOU will have a great time." He addressed the two women in tern and smiled broadly as he did.

"Good, put your money where your mouth is." Teased Sivity. "Are you up for a game of chance?"

"Games, we like." Chuckled Manning. "But you have to tell us YOUR names before we start. That's only fair."

Sivity tilted her head to the side and smiled innocently. "Sivity." Was all she said.

"Shammy," Samanthia slurred her words, with a stupid grin on her face as she sat there drinking and the two gentleman that had joined them. She waved for a refill of her drink and motioned to bring drinks for Manning and Tree. "Shoooo... where you from Manning?" Looking at Tree.

Tree's loud laughter rumbled around them. "Damn, looks like we've a LOT of catching up to do. Shammy is way ahead of us. I know - champagne - that's what we need." He duly ordered a bottle.

"So, what game of chance?" Manning asked with a wry smile.

"It really doesn't matter, because you'll lose." Sivity taunted them. Manning poured the champagne for all of them.

"Well, here's to success." He raised his glass and then promptly downed the lot. "Whoa, I am going to be farting like a bastard after ...ahh..sorry about that ladies. Guess it's harder to take the military out of the man than the man out of the military." He apologised.

"Hell, now you're showing your age." Tree rumbled jovially, but then downed his own glass. "This stuff sure tickles."

Sivity was more cautious. She'd not tried champagne before and so sipped carefully first. It was cold, which was a distinct blessing for her. Having savoured the taste she smiled. "It is very good. I could get used to this."

"You'll be lucky at these prices, but what the hell, it's our treat." Manning refilled the glasses.

Samanthia laughs softly as she knew the prices she charged and it wasn't free like in other starbases. She downed the champane like it was water. "haaaaa," breathly, "a bit to sweet for me." Pushing her glass for a refill. "Sho... should I get the cards brought over here?" Looking at the three. She was feeling warm and fuzzy. Gave a polite giggle at the comment Manning made. She was passed caring, definitely an easy mark under the right circumstance.

The music changed to something with less of a beat, but still very nice. She swayed in her seat to the rythem of the song, softly singing the words along with the music as this was all instrumental for some holo-movie. But she knew the words to it as she loved the song that she memorized it and sung it for a school talent show. And it stuck with her as she would either hum the song or sing along with it.

Sivity was impressed. Even drunk Samanthia sang well. Sivity had not got a harmonious note in her body. She guessed it was something for which humans had a greater proclivity. Unlike Samanthia, Sivity was not drunk. It hadn't evaded her that the men had neatly sidestepped the issue of their origins. Still, she didn't consider it an important issue.

Cards are agreeable." Sivity concurred. They duly arrived. Manning took them eagerly and shuffled them with what was evidently practiced ease.

"So, what shall we play? Like I said, we've got to money to burn, so there's no need to take yours. How daring are you feeling? Strip poker?" His eyes glinted. Both men were wearing more than either of the women, discounting Sivity's preponderance of bracelts and charms, but she wasn't about to remove those in any case.

Samanthia just smiled at them, "Ifsh wez gonna play shtripe poker.....wez might ash well ju-ust skip te poker and getsh it over with.." Reaching for the champagne. "Buttsssss if yoo want too makesh it a challenge be my gua-est." She sipped the champagne finding it just a sweet as before. "Letsh Shivity deal," Giving Manning a award winning smile of pure innonence and charm. Giving Tree a sly wink. "Donna yooo agreed?"

"Hell, looks like we've a lot of catching up to do. Luckily, there's no rush." Manning laughed.

Tree handed the deck to Sivity.

"How do you play this game?" She enquired. Tree then explained the basics to her whilst Manning did his best to catch up with Samanthia. He finished the last of the champagne and then ordered a bottle of dry white wine. "That champagne was a bit sweet for me. I know you can get much drier stuff, but it's not easily come by. Maybe this 'll hit the mark a bit better. No use for Tree though; he likes his ale." By the time he'd finished speaking Sivity had dealt the cards.

Samanthia just nodded slightly, fumbling with her cards, everyone at the table could guest what she held, At least 1 ace of hearts, a king of hearts, 10 of clubs and the last two cards she manage to pick up without showing any one. She leaned over and showed her cards to Manning, Jack of spades and a queen diamonds. "Shuld I keep hese? Or shuld get new cards?" Then showed Tree, "Whot yooo tink?" As she leaned over, they had gotten a nice look at her lacy bra covered torso also. Samanthia was smashed. They was playing the game in The Dive. But then anything went as long as it didn't bring any problems with Security.

Sivity hadn't even looked at her cards. They remained face down on the table. "Re-deal." She said pushing them back into the centre. "Samanthia, how am I supposed to test my luck if you don't permit a fair assessment of it? Card games are beyond your current remit. You stick to drinking." She wasn't too happy, but couldn't be annoyed with the inebriated woman. It was at least gratifying that alcohol didn't make her aggressive or morose. The two clearly saw the funny side.

"Good job you called a re-deal, she had me beat all ends up." Joked Manning.

Tree poured her a glass of chilled dry white wine.

Samanthia saw everyone tossing their cards into the center of the table. Being a bit more polite, handed her cards to Sivity face up. "Ish sowwy. Yoosh luck did work. Itsh came to mee through the cardsh." Picking up the refilled glass of wine, Samanthia let loose a belch, but it was very ladylike in manners that's been drilled in her by her parents and strict nature of being a military brat. "Eshoose mee"

Samanthia stood up a bit shaky, wobbled a bit and then took off bravely through the tables filled with patrons. She swayed and bumped into the patrons as she made her way to the restrooms. If she wasn't well known by the key patrons of this place, Samanthia would be in a world of hurt. But the spilled drinks and bumps were laughed off as this was a rare occasion anyone seen her in such a drunken state. Any other patron did was she was doing, it would've been an instant bar brawl.

"I think you'd better check on Shammy." manning laughed. "I'm surprised she made it that far by herself."

"Yes, you're probably right." Agreed Sivity. "She finished her drink then turned the glass upside down on the table. No refills until I return." She stated emphatically.

"She's a suspicious one." Chuckled Tree in his deep basso tones.

"If you looked like that, you would be as well!" Manning laughed.

Sivity slipped from her chair and made her way to the restrooms with considerably less trouble than Samanthia. Practically every eye in the room followed her. The volume of conversation seemed to noticeably increase as the rest room door closed behind her.

Samanthia wasn't having a good time as she was giving her offerings to the porcelain throne, trying to keep her hair out of the way, maintain her balance which wasn't to great to begin with. She finished as the door shut with asoft thud. "Oooooooo..." She looked at Sivity, "Why do I do this to myself?" Moving abit more steady now that most of the intoxicants were gone, to the sink to wash away the signs of her misfortune. "I-I hope I'm not ruining your fun." She spoke as she washed her face, then she applied touch up mascara to her face.

"Don't worry about it." Sivity replied. She paused as she watched Samanthia redress some of the damage done. "Why did you choose to get so intoxicated? You were drunk even before we entered the bar. I hope it was a good reason." Sivity wasn't one to drink excessively; she liked to be in control. Besides, alcohol was not an aid to meditation or prayer.

Samanthia leaned against the sink, sighed softly then spoke, "I was married once and two very beautiful daughters. My husband and daughters were my life till..." She looked down at her feet, then back to Sivity. "They was rudely taken from me by terrorist. It happened when I lived on Starbase 12." She sighed. "I know all the psyco babble as I used to be a Commissioned Officer as a Counciler, read the books, talked the talked....Finding out that when it happens to you.... it's like... The stars loses it lusters. Everything is duller. You find yourself envious of others wanting to have what they have that you used to have." Covering her face with her hands gently. "Sometimes booze works... other times ...." uncovers her face to make a funny face and smirk at the same time. "I get drunk...or go hunting for a good time just to fill the empty spot inside of me."

Samanthia looks at Sivity, "I once again apologyze for the "Pity Me Party. I am a big girl and can deal with my mistakes..." Gives a forced smile that is more gross than the usual times one is forced to give a cheerful fake smile. "Tomorrow I'll wake up and be right as rain with terrible hangover and swear never to do this again." Gives a pitiful chuckle. "I'm a wreck right now."

"Then it's probably best if I take you home, but I am curious; if you miss your family so much, why do you not speak with them?" It seemed a perfectly reasonable question to Sivity. Those without faith, particularly those who refused to accept the existence of the spirit world would think her mad, asking as she was about speaking with those long dead. However, whilst difficult, Sivity did not regard it as an impossibility. However, it was beyond her ability. She doubted that there'd be any mystics on the star base, but there might possibly be a human medium.

"Because they are dead," Samanthia spoke softly, "and gone." She nodded as this place was dangerious even to her as she was well known in circles and more so when she was in this condition. "I've tried pretty much everything. What can it hurt." Pushing off the sink to stand. Swayed a bit, motioning for Sivity follow as she headed to leave The Dive.

Sivity followed her out. She cut past her to the table where Manning and Tree were still chatting and drinking. She leaned on the table as she spoke briefly with them. Their expressions turned a little sour, but then brightened. Sivity cut the deck of cards and dealt one card to the three of them. The cards were turned over and Sivity exited smiling broadly and with a handful of credits.

"Dead and Gone are two different things." Sivity said to Samanthia as she rejoined her and took her elbow to guide her back to her apartment.

Samanthia followed numbly. All she wanted at the moment was get to someplace where she could relax. She nodded to Sivity, wondering what she meant. She got Sivity past the Control Point on the Akiashiro deck...
