Mission:
Insecurities
Location: Security Offices / Detention Center
*Security Offices*
Although Sivity was not the one currently locked up, things were not going so well for her. Try as she might, she could not sync the footage with her report. Everyone else seemed to have no issue with it whatsoever. With an exasperated sigh, she gave it one more brief go, then gave up. It was a report - of sorts. It would suffice. Having consigned the bureaucracy to oblivion - where it belonged as far as she was concerned - she felt far more relaxed. It was only then that she realistically considered the impact of Samanthia's actions.
Samanthia was a smuggler! And Sivity had been quite prepared to room with her. There'd been no point in trying to cover that fact; so she'd made full disclosure in her report. It was then that she also became conscious that she was most decidedly the topic of conversation in the office. She liked attention. She didn't like offices. So she got up and left, or rather attempted to.
"Sorry Ensign, but we've all got to wait right here until the section leader debriefs us." Chimed in a pretty blonde. Sivity didn't think that she was at all sorry. She smiled politely and sat back down drawing considerable solace from the fact that she was even prettier than the blonde. She unclipped a rune stone from her charm bracelet and rubbed it between her fingers to relax.
*Holding Cells/Interrogation Room 2*
Samanthia felt the soft spot, which she knew was going to leave a nice bruise for a few days. She was talking to one of Akiashiro's Lawyers in one of the interrogations room. Illegal booze in the crate that was being shipped to her could mean anything. Just play dumb about the illegal booze and stick to it. We got them on assault, unauthorized wielding of dangerous weapons, specially the Andorian. Illegal search of container as they had recovered the smashed data PADD and the information was still intact. It just her misfortune of delaying the pick-up of the crate.
"What about the Captain?" Samanthia asked. And the lawyer responded, "He's claiming ignorance also and sends his condolences and asking for a date with you. He was impressed by the way you slapped the phaser from the Ensign."
"Self Defence! It was pointed at me!" Samanthia gave that perfect lady's whine of indignation as the Lawyer nodded.
"Of course. Miss Akiashiro." Lawyer smiled. "It was probaly a good thing you reacted that way. And we got proof she attacked you when it was obviously you was backing away from the hazardious situation. As for the Contraband. Some judge or senior officers are going to be enjoying that."
*Security Offices*
Stopping petty thieves or breaking up bar brawls was part of the job. Stopping smugglers and investigating murders came with the territory. These were things that Lieutenant Harper enjoyed doing. These were things that made him want to put on that uniform every morning. Investigating and serving punishments to one of his own was far from what he wanted to be doing this day. But sure enough, one of his officers had gotten herself in trouble, and this was beyond a simple disagreement. He stepped up to the to offending officer's desk, one of his subordinates. "Ensign, you and I need to have a little chat. Could we step into the conference room?"
Sivity sighed and her feet off the desk where they'd plainly been displaying her strictly non-uniform perilously tall spike heeled boots. She smiled at her superior.
"Sure thing Lieutenant. I'm right with you." She answered cheerily. The faces of her colleagues conveyed a great deal of concern and worry. It wasn't shared by Sivity. She'd found the contraband - despite some determined efforts to stop her. She was delighted that her instincts had steered her so truly. Clearly the correct selection of charms and wards had been made and the power of such carefully attuned items had proven highly efficacious. She smiled again; this time replaying the fight. Samanthia had impressed. She hoped that she'd get to fight her again. That thought brought a twinge of annoyance: if they'd let her share the apartment with her, they'd have been able to fight all the time. Well, maybe not ALL the time. The lieutenant sat at the far end of the conference room and indicated that she sit to his right. She complied.
"Let's just get started. No sense to beat around the bush." Harper wasn't sure if the Andorian was familiar with the old Earth phrase, but he didn't think any more about it. "I've already discussed this with Commander O'Connell, and he wants me to take care of it. First of all, good work on finding the contraband. You made the right call not accepting the cargo without proper customs inspection. It turns out that the shipping manifest was inaccurate, and naturally did not include the smuggled goods." Despite the praise, Harper did not smile.
Sivity said nothing. It was clear that Harper still had more to add; so she sat still and waited patiently. She didn't have to wait long.
"Unfortunately, that's not the end of it. Ms. Akiashiro is pressing assault and reckless endangerment charges against you." He was still not smiling.
"Good for her." Sivity replied. "Look just say what you have to say. I don't care. I did the right thing. I know it. You know it. Whatever you've already decided, I can handle." She spoke with assuredness. What she didn't say was that the Spirits were with her. Commanding officers tended not to like that. As far as disciplinary action was concerned; she wasn't unduly worried. She realised that she should be, but the evident support of the spirit realm offset any such mundane worries. She again smiled coolly at Harper and twisted her charms on her bracelet.
Harper looked at her with confusion. "You do realize that this is a serious matter, Ensign. She has a lot of evidence against you. The security recordings, which you chose to use in lieu of a real incident report, clearly shows you threatening her with a phaser and attacking her as she walked away. You can go to prison over this, Sivity."
Sivity did her best to remain serious, but her attempts to suppress a laugh caused her to smirk.
"Look, I know you think this is terribly serious, but it really isn't. The phaser was only ever on stun. I stopped some minor contraband, but more importantly I sent a clear signal that 'criminals will be stopped'. Sure I bent a few rules, but so do they. Now they will be scared that it'll happen again. It makes life harder for them. So, do I regret my actions: no -not one bit. Furthermore, I've worked the brig; I'm not afraid of jail. Oh don't look so aghast. It's not like I've a meteoric career to protect. However, you should be worried about the signal you send if you do 'feel the need' to prosecute me, but then that's what you get the big money for. So, am I under arrest or confined to my rooms pending enquiries." At the latter, she did smile. It was just all too funny. People got so worked up over little things. In the grand scheme of things, what she'd done would soon be forgotten. At least, that was what she firmly believed.
Lieutenant Harper sighed heavily. "Sivity, you had the criminal stopped. There was no need to point the phaser at her, and there definitely wasn't a need to throw her to the ground as she walked away. You may think you did a great service, but you've not done Starfleet any favors. The message you sent is that we'll attack first with no reason. That doesn't make criminals cower in fear. It makes them escalate things. They're going to be more likely to fire first before you even get a chance to draw your phaser, and theirs may not be set to stun. Why did you pull her to the ground. You should have arrested her and have been done with it. But now we're here." He paused a moment before going on. He was not looking forward to what was going to happen next, but he had a responsibility to uphold. He pulled out a pair of handcuffs. "I'm sorry, Sivity, but I have to do this. You're under arrest for assault."
Sivity's smile didn't fade. She had arrested Samanthia. The woman had ignored her; so she'd dropped her. The Lieutenant's argument about escalation was faulty. She hadn't used the phaser, let alone fired it on stun. How did that escalate anything. However, she said nothing. Decisions had already been made. She stood gracefully and turned so that he could apply the handcuffs behind her back. It wasn't quite what she'd expected her day to bring. She wondered just how bad it might have been without her new luck stone.
*Base Dentention Center*
Akiashiro's Lawyer, after he left the interregation room and Samanthia was returned to the holding cell, began making calls to his informants and setting up meetings with his counterpart in Fleet JAG about the pending case that was about ignite the station. And of course it came at a bad time as first wave of refugees were arriving on the station.
Samanthia fumed and paced her brig cell, glaring silently at everyone who passed by her cell and peeked in. One Thug known to be the fall guy, looked at her and laughed, "The Akiashiro Princess finally got her crown tarnished." He guffawed as he was lead to his holding cell. Samanthia could see the respect in his eyes as she spat at him, watching the confinement shield flare and die away. She turned and laid on the bunk after taking off her dirty suite jacket and tossed it on the floor. Slipping off her shoes after she sat on the bunk.
A few minutes later, another prisoner was shuffled in to the holding cell block. This prisoner drew far more attention from others in holding cells, notable in not just her beauty, but in the fact that she was in a Starfleet uniform, albeit without her commbadge. Sivity Dar'Barriun had her hands bound behind her back, and was guided to an empty cell across from Samanthia by her SO, Lt. Harper. He removed the cuffs and stepped back beyond the entryway so that the brig officer could reactivate the forcefield. Harper had nothing left to say at this point, and only shook his head as he walked away.
Samanthia covered up her head with the jacket when hearing a commontion of several voices and footsteps approaching. Samanthia swore that the engineers put in noise amplifiers in the floor when they put in the deck just to make the prisoners upset and angry. But curiousity got the better of her and she peeked out from under the jacket. They was throwing an Andorian in the cell across from her.
Eyes widen when she saw the familiar gold Security colors on the Andorian. She snickered drawing attention to herself.
