Mission:
Vagrants, Vagabonds, and Thieves
Location: SB - 332
After a week time on the Archia IV, Samanthia felt rejuvinated and ready to return to work. She deftly parked her shuttle within the shuttle bay on the Akiashiro Deck along with the others. She stretched once that chore was done and the shuttle turned back over to the Hanger bay crew to get it serviced and ready later when she needed it.
She paid a quick visit to her apartment and changed into her customary suit dress outfit to check up on the Warp-12 Lounge on the promenade deck.
Samanthia stepped off the turbolift into the bedlam of assorted displaced people. The noise level was higher than normal as she made her way through the crowed promenade corridor. People were everywhere along with their children milling about. She looked them over, seeing their differences from their respective genepools. They all had the look of weariness and resigned look of those that been shoved from their homes to an uncertain future that a displaced person had.
She moved through the crowded walkway, seeing the Marines had been deployed along with Security. She looked the Marines over, seeing them attired like the way the Fleet Security was. Holstered side arm, Stun Baton and the other usual gear. Only difference was the uniforms.
It was a lot more louder as people yelled to be heard over those nearby yelling. She seen fights erupt and quickly quelled. Samanthia gave a quick smile as she knew Sivity was probaly having a field day in being able to release all that pent up fustration and Angst that was constantly bubbling within her.
It was a good thing, while on her Semi-Working vacation on Archia IV, she resumed her martial arts excercises and running to get inshape. Now she needed a sparing partner to get the reflexes back up to speed. She still had the skill, but it had deteriated a bit from non-use. She knew she would need it here in this atmosphere.
~~Maybe hook up with Sivity for another round in a more friendly non-professional manner for a spar or two.~~ Samanthia grimaced at remembering the sucker punch she received from Sivity and absentmindedly rubbed the spot.
"Hey Hey Babe! I can do a much better job of massaging ya!" A scruffy looking Alien Male spoke up, leering at her along with his companions giving catcalls and wolfwhistles at her. watching her pass by.
Samanthia chose to ignore them, but felt the flush of warmth that she could still attract attention from the opposite gender and so young also. She became more alert as she approached her club. She came to a complete stop as the place had been taken over by the refugees to set up a 'Shanty Town' within the lounge area.
All sorts of emotion raced through her and warred within her as she looked over mess. Her expression grew hard and cold as the warmth fled from her eyes. ~~Maybe Isotep is right!~~ She stood there, warring with an age old feeling of Racism flaring up within her. Where to direct it was still debatable. Unconsciously her posture straightened to a more non-approachable position.
The easy, yet good posture, slump of being approachable and relaxed to a more unfriendly aggressiveness posture. She spun on her heels and strode with purpose back the way she had came. She pulled out her communicator and called her Manager. "Arseninel? Samanthia. Tell me if the stock is still safe?" As she strode back the way she came.
"Miss Akiashiro, When you was gone, several more ships showed up with refugees. They started showing up. Taking over the lounge and not leaving. I tried to get in touch with you. But you had already left for Archa IV. I called your Elder and he with a bunch of Akiashiro Employees showed up and removed everything that wasn't nailed down." Arseninel replied sounding a bit relieved, yet wary after hearing her cold voice over the communication channel. "It was funny to watch them try to take the holographic furniture."
"Did you shut it down?" Samanthia asked quietly in a cold voice as she paused at one of the smaller establishments, where it was more quieter.
"Yes. And even disabled it. So the refugees couldn't access it. Miss Akiashiro." He replied, uncertainity in his voice. "The rest of the employees are okay and are keeping to themselves and finding employment elsewhere."
Samanthia nodded, then responded, "That is good to hear. Thank you." She replied, and killed the connection. She ordered a drink and frowned at the replicated drink when it was brought to her. Unsure of what to do next, Samanthia sat there and sipped her drink, watching the milling crowd outside the establishment.
She could go to the planet as she her visa was still good as long as she was a student. She could afford staying there. As she already had a place to live, abiet with her landlord's daughter. They got along fine when they was together in the apartment. But she knew she would be cramping the Daughter's funtime after hours with her there.
She thought of all the things she had done and even working for Isotep. She scowled as this played right into his hands. She just found a place to relax out of the mainstream of things out here on the galatic edge. Maybe should just take a trip to Sol-3, Earth to visit her parents. But they was retired and enjoying it.
She gave a half smile as the urge came over her to chuck it all and grab her surfboard to catch the 'big one'. She knew her parents would love the visit, but the problem would still be here when her welcome ran out. Giving a big sigh into her drink, Samanthia finished off the drink, fortifide to face crowded corridor, stood up and left. She glanced back and her seat was already taken before she could take her seventh step towards the door.
She was surprised that the refugees didn't try to settle on th Akiashiri deck. If more ships came with full loads of Refugees. Open space would become prime real estate. Getting aboard the Central Turbolift, a few Refugees slipped in with her. She looked at them as she gave another destination than the Akiashiro Deck.
"Mmmm what do we have here?" One of the refugees spoke as he looked at Samanthia with interest.
His two friends looked at Samanthia, "A pretty human female and alone." The biggest of the three spoke as he edged closer to her to see how she would respond.
Samanthia held her spot, turning her attention to the one who moved closer to her while keeping the other to in sight.
"Do you think she would be nice to us and allowing us to move in with her?" The third spoke up, not to be out done by the other two.
"That would be just downright unacceptable," Samanthia spoke softly, yet still heard clearly.
"I think some persuasion would be in order to change her mind when she finds out how good at lovin we are." The first spoke advancing towards her.
Samanthia sighed softly, "You thought wrong. Save all of us the trouble and make out with each other if you're so starved for affection." She replied, remaining calm and voice soft without her customary warmth.
The three laughed at her comment, "She's a wiley one!" The biggest spoke between guffaws.
"Lots of spirit! We picked a fine one." Spoke the third also esging closer to her, crowding her into a corner till he felt something sharp dig painfully into his stomach.
Samanthia held her ground, slipping a stilletto into her hand and jebbed it quickly into the one that tried to crowd her into a corner.
The other two saw the flash of reflected light and then the spreading blood on their compatriot's shirt. They yelled insults at her in their native language as they stopped the bleeding on their partner. Giving her time to slip from the turbolift unnoticed.
Samanthia sighed softly as her training was still there and how easily it could be used against the unsuspecting. She broke out her commincator and called to the Akiashiro Deck for an armed escort to Deck 1403. She gave her location on deck 405. Residence section of those employed by the station and Fleet personnel who was married.
She nodded to the Marine detail that was assigned to the checkpoint in keeping those that lived on this deck safe from th refugees. "I hope ya don't mind me waiting here. Even though I don't reside here."
The most senior spoke for the group. "Who you waiting for?"
"An Akiashiro Security Escort," Samanthia spoke softly with warmth, "I'm Samanthia Akiashiro." Intro'ing herself to the Marines at the Checkpoint.
"I thought your deck was much lower in the stem?" Senior spoke again, looking over her for telltale signs of weapons that would be a threat to his men and residents of the level they was on.
"Deck 1403. I know. I just felt it was safer for me to wait here for an escort. With all the Refugees running amok around the station." Samanthia kept her self calm and non-threatening to the already edgy Marines.
"I see." Senior nodded his acceptance of her explaination as he made a log of the incident in the data-pad that rested on the table at the Checkpoint. "I suppose you don't carry identifaction with you?"
Samanthia gave a smile and slowly pulled out her ID folder and handed it over to Marine, letting him make pictures and adding it to his report, before handing it back to her when finished.
"Well Miss Akiashiro. Please plan ahead to make all of our lives a bit easier." The Senior Marine spoke to her gruffily, yet with politeness as her info checked out and she was a business owner up on the Promanade Deck. "I enjoyed your establishment before this Snafu happened." Giving her a smile as he gave the signal for his men to relax their vigil on her.
"I'll definitely take that into concideration!" She softly exclaimed. "I hope this situation will clear up or start moving the refugees to another location."
"You and me both, Miss." The Senior smiled at her, shoving one of his troops from his seat and offering it to her while she waited for her escort.
Samanthia sat down, relieved at the kindness of the Marines. "Thank you for your seat," She spoke to the displaced Marine, then to the Senior, "I'll remember this, Marine. Bring those are here up to the Lounge and I'll see to it that you men are treated rightiously."
One of the Privates spoke up, "Huh.. Could you put in a good word at The Dive?" Looking hopefull at her.
"Of course," She smiled at the Private. "What about your friends?" Looking at the other three.
They nodded at Samanthia as she gave smile to them. "I'll pass the word along to the propieter."
She stood up as the turbolift opened and letting two Akiashiro Securitymen exit. She waved to the Marines and joined the Security Team, heading back onto the turbolift.
"Welcome back Miss Akiashiro, I take it you found out about the lounge?" One asked politely as they headed down to Deck 1403.
"Yeah, the hard way. By going there." Samanthia relaxed against the turbolift'ssafety railing. "I hope that the refugees haven't been trying to overwhelm you guys." Looking at the both of them.
"Those that try, end up on other decks or the Starbase's Infirmary." One of them spoke to her as the other barred the doorway to prevent others from using the turbolift.
"Keep up the good work. I may bring by some goodies," She smiled at them. "Thanks for coming to escort me." Getting a pleased look from the both of them. She knew that they had been pulled from off duty to get her.
"How's the family?" She asked one that had a family and could've been enjoying the time with them.
"They are doing great, Miss Akiashiro. Thanks for asking." The one spoke that was acting as a door block.
They relaxed in her presence, yet remained alert. She was one of the rare ones that brought them treats and refreshments while standing duty. Inquired about themselves, making them feel important.
She thanked them as they left the Turbolift on Deck 1403. She went her way as they went their's with a wave from her. She moved through the corridor to her apartment, lost in thought. It was nice to be away from the crowds. She knew she would have to go armed or have an escort when she left the Akiashiro Deck as the others that lived on the station called it.
It seamed that SB-332 Residentual Decks wre following Aikishiro's way of doing things in protecting their decks from the Refugees to maintain security and safety of their families and themselves who lived on that level.
Elder Akiashiro stood fast in keeping his domain free from refugees. He refused ship from docking nor having access to the docking ports for the level, nor allow enterance to a shuttle hanger bay, even it was claiming a provable emerngancy.
