Mission: Pandemic [Incomplete]
Location: Quarters - USS Carthage
Timeline: Mission Prep

[ON]

Ensign Steiner had scarcely settled into her ship's quarters when the quartermaster swung by with the equipment wagon. He dumped a large trooper style container on her and then hovered on his merry way.

Definitely a creature who reads instructions before opening, Corrie spent the better part of an hour going through the training videos and reviewing the device specifications. Then, she opened the canister. Upon cracking the seal, the hiss of sterile helium rushed out. In neat orderly fashion, she laid out all the components on her bed. "One bio-mission suit..."

She stripped down and then put on the inner sash around her waist. It felt snug and comfortable. Then, according to the instructions, she activated stage one body deployment. A surprise for most first time users, the sash quickly scaled out into underclothing. "Whoahyeah... that tickles in all the right places!"

Corrie then donned the more heavy envirosuit belt. Again, fitted to a woman's waist, its molecularly seamless clasp sealed. She surveyed the body contour belt pods. "Fusion battery... self-sealant reserve... bio-computer..." She then ordered, "Computer, unseal inert test virus."

A beep confirmed the order. Seconds later, her utility suit automatically scaled all over her body and formed a clear visor. "Wow! Oookay. That works pretty well!" Except for momentary footstep traction and hand gripping, a mild repulsor field made her outer surface slippery and repulsing to dust, radioactive particles, and microbes. She pressed wrist controls to retract the suit back to normal clothing level. From now on, she'd leave the microbe scanner field on. Any unrecognized or known harmful microbes would once again trigger full deployment.

She sighed, looking at the remaining equipment harness on her bed. "Nutrient and oxygen infusion... waste and CO2 extractions... communications... medi-tools, omni packs." She'd wait until going off ship or in alert situations to donn that equipment.

"Computer, are the mission briefings available, yet?"

==NEGATIVE. MISSION PROFILE IS STILL PENDING.==

The impatient Corrie whispered, "Fine." She decided that even if she was mission ready, the ship as a whole probably wasn't. Prepping a vessel for high risk bio-missions involved more than just quarantine protocols, engineering seals, and bio-scans. There would be operational risk points to be identified and covered. She left her quarters to walk around the vessel, get a more personal feel for it.
